I'm heading to Italy in October and by watching your videos it seems the weather is pretty nice. Thank you for sharing your experiences! Keep traveling 😊
The Coliseum is beautiful, but not for the faint of heart, when you hear about it’s dark history. A must see for sure though. The food looked absolutely delicious!! Too many crowds for me,I believe I will visit in the off-season. Thank you for this beautiful video ❤️🇨🇦
When we were in Rome my mother got lost and couldn’t remember the name of the hotel we were stay at, but it was lucky the tour guide figure it out. Seems like no one ever talk about going to the catacombs in Rome any more.
This place has all the food groups - gelato, crepe, waffle & sandwich. 🤣🤣 The night pic of you in front of the Coliseum was stunning! 💕 I was glad to see an ironing board in the hotel room that looks like it was getting some use. Troy always ends up ironing when we are on vacation (usually Disney or Universal) and I always remark to him that I think he's the only one that uses it. 🤣🤣 Looking forward to the trains next. 💕 Thanks for taking us along. 💞 -Troy & Aimee
We do 3 weeks in Italy with only a European overhead size backpack each… so… we win that one lol… loving the vids! You haven’t done your driving in Italy vid yet… I was fairly sure you mentioned that.
I found the coliseum most beautiful at night and illuminated. A tip for others, get tickets for the Hop On Hop Off bus. I found the big crowds a big turn off.
Yes, Gene! It's gorgeous in the evening. A great tip 👍 and agreed! Everyone kept saying that the crowds are so much lower, but there were still a lot of people in some areas. Glad we got to see it though! Thanks for watching 😊 -Katelyn
Thank you, again, for this fabulous tour! It brought back so many lovely memories of our visit all over Italy in 10/19. We stood exactly where you were overlooking the inside of the Coliseum! I don’t know HOW I missed it, but I didn’t have ANY gelato! I could go back again (third time!) and still not see it all, but with you showing us what we missed, I see another vaca coming-up! You guys are so cute…love you two! ❤️ Virgina
You mean you did not climb up the dome of the Vatican? To tell the truth, I will not do it again! We all came back with leg cramps that night! So, don't do it! LOL! Looking forward to your trip to Cinque Terre.
We started watching you when I saw the video on Christmas in Savannah...you need to go back and do a Ghost tour....we got hooked after we watched the Italy videos, but can't find the part where you go to Tuscany....boy did you make me want some Gelato and Pizza. Happy travels.
I'm thinking, this is a whirlwind tour while you get oriented to come back later and stay everywhere longer. How can you leave all this behind? Just kidding. It is funny seeing you without the RV and your four legged friends. So enjoying this 'other side' of your travels. Keep safe, enjoy and see you next week. 💝🇳🇱🤶🇳🇿
I’m so excited to get to Rome and this video just adds to that excitement! Loved all the history and sights you shared. I’m on a quest to complete the new seven wonders and this is one of two left! I have been watching the Roman empire Netflix documentary to try to get some history before I go, but I usually just resort to the Rock Steve’s walking tour 😂
There is NOTHING wrong with the Rick Steves tours, Laurin! 😂 We use them frequently in Europe, and his app has lots of clips from his radio show on lots of topics. Excellent resource! I have to ask, what's the last of the seven wonders you still need to explore??! 👍 -Howard
This was a fabulous video that reminded us of how much we loved Rome. We had gelato at Giolitti and can confirm it’s the best! We agree that Piazza Navona is spectacular. Along with more wine than I care to mention, we had an ice cream dessert there in the square called Tartuffo, which was this decadent chocolate cherry creation. We also ate pizza at a place with a great view of the Colosseum, however, it wasn’t as posh as where you ate. The food was good, but we are pretty sure it was a front for a brothel! Story for another time. 😂
Ahh so glad you agree about Giolitti! Did you get it with the cream on top? The best!! Don't worry, we had so much wine on this trip too 🥴😂🍷 omg I cannot wait to hear the pizza/brothel story! Hahaha
We loved our trip to Italy but went during a heat wave. 🥵 We walked to the Trevvi Fountain, almost got arrested and it was closed. It was a total Clark Griswold moment. 😳😂 Beautiful video!
My wife and I are planning to visit Italy in 2023 hopefully once all this COVID stuff settles down. Are plan is to start in Venice and work are way down to the Amalfi Cost. Rome is definitely one of our stops along the way. We do not plan to do Milan or Lake Como. Any suggestions for stops between Venice to Rome & Rome to Amalfi Coast? And Train or Rent a Car for our travels?
Bryan, glad you found us and the episode was helpful! We have several episodes coming up on the areas you mentioned, but I would suggest looking at stops in Parma/Modena/Bologna, La Spezia (for CInque Terre), Florence, Naples/Pompeii and maybe Montepulciano depending on how much time you have for exploring. For your route, we'll have episodes on Parma, Cinque Terre, Naples/Pompeii joining the existing ones on Florence/Tuscany and Rome. The trains are very fast between cities, and in several areas parking can be a challenge to say the least. You could always pickup a rental at the train station for exploring (like in Parma/Modena/Bologna since there are lots of sights in the countryside). Hope that was helpful and you'll continue on the journey with us! -Howard
@@NewstateNomads Howard, Thank you for the info!! We have not decided yet how long are visit will be. I am thinking possibly 10 days as I have a feeling 7 will not be enough to see as much as we hope of Italy. Venice, Rome & Amalfi Coast are for sure destinations on our visit. We look forward to following you both on your travels through Italy. And any advice is greatly appreciated. We hope you have safe & amazing travels through Italy!!!
wonderful videos, just a few mistakes in the choice of food. Each city has its own typical cuisine. It is not advisable to buy pizza in Firence, for example. Next time, feel free to ask for advice
Trevi Fountain is definitely in this video, I think you missed it 😉 we visited the exterior of the Pantheon but it was unfortunately closed. We were still able to fit a lot into two days in Rome. ☺️ Thanks for watching!
Hi Mindy! We found it to be very similar to renting a car here in the US. And driving was no problem, especially once we were south in the more rural areas.
the voiceover sounds like a breakfast TV newsreader which is distracting and very jarring. The rest of the video is good though. good content- just cant get past that "newsreader" tone. ik
Thanks, Ginta. Sounds like you just found us (welcome!), because Katelyn WAS a news reporter and anchor on US TV. I was a cinematographer and producer in Hollywood, so with our backgrounds we try to bring our skills in storytelling to each episode. Hope you'll continue on the journey with us! 👍 - Howard
