i understand him losing his shit is a testament on why he's a bigger Melee streamer, but if Bobby actually wants to win these he has to get his mentality in check, having a temper tantrum isn't gonna win you sets.
BBB’s melee play-style is NPC. You’re welcome to disagree, but brute forcing wins through tech skill and lack of methodical thought only works in the beginner to high(ish)-intermediate levels of melee play. It will also stunt skill-growth. Hard. Many Falco mains get away with this play style for a long time because the character naturally enables this type of behavior. (9 year Falco main for reference). In my opinion, a set like this is not considered “good melee”. Good melee (or high-level-melee, whatever your definition preference here is) is defined as two players engaged in a “dance” of consistently adapting to one another’s play-style, and adapting to the options their opponents select in specific situations. In other words, pattern recognition. This set is more considered “hype” than good melee. Plup, being the tremendous melee veteran that he is, provided 50% here. Bobby, hardly adapted enough. Not to mention BBB’s horrible sportsmanship. (I mean, I get it.. “do what you want, it’s free country, he’s a grown adult, emotions are high during competition, etc etc.) But is this really at all a good look? Being a grown (rage-quitting) man child? This is also a classic reason why the reverse 3-0 happens. The NPC competitor will “brute force” the first game win or two with strong tech skill and hyper aggression. Ultimately, will lose in the end to the players that have superior skills in adaptation and patience.
i completely agree. BBB was doing predictable side b to ledge grab jump side b onto stage repeatedly and got punished like 5 times for it on plup’s read. He really only started adapting in the last game last stock when he baited out the shield to up b from samus, but even then he didnt punish hard so it was a good read, bad followthrough. Honestly with how plup adapted to laser neutral with powershield down smashes id say he earned the win, i cannot powershield as adaptational awareness.

Pretty sure weight has almost no effect on vertical knockback. Samus dies to fox up-smash earlier than fox (I think). It's fast fall and/or gravity that effect vertical knockback. Samus almost died to falco shine at 130 which would not happen to fox who is a fast faller. Weight does effect horizontal knockback though (I think). M2K mentioned it in a video a long time ago. Idk it's been a while For example, at 18:00 samus flies so high from a grounded shine even though she's heavy
it definitely affects ko s of the top, but fall speed is the bigger factor good example is link and young link: both have the same falling speed but a fox upsmash will kill ylink 10% earlier

Falco permanently immobilizes Samus with no way to approach or kill, and Samus nair and dsmash make for truly egregious reversals.
The payoff for it reallllly isnt there compared to how insanely laggy it is I kinda think of it as like a captain falcon raptor boost or marth counter, where the main use of its existence (in most matchups) is using it so infrequently that your opponent will never choose the option that beats it becuase they arent even thinking about it, and then only use it once or twice to really shmix em up
@@chriscastle1629 I guess I just don't know enough. I always thought the combo possibility off of Samus grabs on spacies was high. I equate both that and the risks to Yoshi's grab (I doubt it's a 1 to 1 comparison, but still). aMSa's proven it's worth it if you're good enough, and I'd think, at least, Plup would be.
@@rockzyk1291 Consider that much of the time vs fastfallers, amsa only grabs as a tech chase option. Samus can't do the same thing unfortunately. Especially against falco, it is hard to lock him down into shield because he is so content throwing out safe dairs

it can be a great mixup option from ledge and a good yet risky techchase with platform uair cancels but you can usually get the same reward if not more off a down air techchase
