I haven't been in the michigan smash community for long, but I have never seen him pop off ever at least in any of the regionals he's won, he just doesn't seem like the type to pop off
This wouldn't be as big of a win if not because of Mango's prowess over the ages. Beating a titan like that is no small feat. Love and peace too both players ✌️
no joke i believe this guys punish game is 100% more labbed out and refined than zain's rn, he has a pretty unique and creative approach to punish like going for uptilt -> techchase on fd instead of the chaingrab, as zain has been struggling with the chaingrab for some time now with people getting really good at ambiguous DI and SDIing uptilts. I would still take zains adaptations and neutral over ossify's dont get me wrong, but to play a guy for the first time who hits this hard and this differently i dont blame mango for getting caught off guard, some of the most out of the box and creative marth combos ive seen in a while.
This was all just classic Marth stuff - looked more like circa-2015 Marth than Zain, who is labbed out the wazoo. Honestly just all the old m2k tricks. it's fun to watch
@@purpleplusgold agreed, he just constantly seems so mentally checked out and everyone is getting so good that he can't just rely on being 'better' than everyone like he used to
"Seeing everyone excited that I lost to a person who just noob checked me 27 times in a row Ooooooo baby it's all forming so slowly MIGHT NOT TODAY OR TOMORROW BUT ITS COMING" -Mang0 This mental is why Oss will win the next one too.
6:12 that waveshine hit confirm and the insane aerial drift to follow the DI is probably one of the mang0iest ways i’ve seen mang0 start a combo. how does he lose this set???
I'm surprised how successfully Simply has transitioned from speedrunning to melee! (Commonly known as a reverse-Armada) Beating Mang0 after playing for only 2 years?? God gamer
A bit of both i think. Ossify is the 35th Best in the world, Mango is 8th. So for someone to beat someone 27 places higher than them. their performance ranges need to have some overlap. Ossify probably played at the higher end of his performance range, and Mango at the lower end. Mango probably the most known top player for having a famously wide performance range. Last couple of years he can look like the 2nd best player in the world sometimes, and then sometimes look like the 50th best player in the world. It's always been his biggest weakness as a competitor. For example people on the other end of the scale of performance range is Armada or Zain. their variance is at worst is playing like 1st in the world to 8th in the world, but their mean performance would be like 2nd-3rd.
I swear those are baby's input . I don't see one input a new comer couldn't have done after what , 3 hours being guided ? This character is literally why i quit playing . And yes im salty about it lol
@@Thierce It is true tho.If you're not playing great,a marth can easily beat you by just responding with tilts to your movements and approach. He basically has a round hit box around him covering every angles, with good frame data, end lag,and formidable kill power.I admit the character falls off at very high level, but i myself switched to marth and have WAY better results despite having played him way less than spacies. Its just facts, spamming down tilt at the edge makes almost perfect edgeguard unless you got the sweet spot on the ledge,if enemy goes higher you just do a f-smash or jump f-air/d-air. Its beatable, but you unless are in a top 32 settings, you gotta be way better than the marth.Tell me otherwise if you want but i experienced it from both ends, either being less skilled than a spacie that i beat with marth,or by getting beat by a lesser skilled Marth player while playing a spacie.
@@Dontbother- Its not true, I have the almost opposite experience playing Falco (I main Marth) and getting free wins because laser are op in neutral and dair and bair are super safe and very strong. I don't think Falco is busted tho or all that easy except at low level. My point is mostly that saying anyone could do what ossify does is super reductive and also flat out false.
@@Thierce Bair are super safe?Against marth???Do you know what range is? You told me enough to not take you seriously, if you got trouble below Master dealing with b-air while playing Marth,well...Good luck dude
Imo with mango doing the reckless approaches and sd's along side ossify to mix up and find areas of mangos play as openings for being reckless. I don't think this will happen again. Props to him but I think it was a flub
Sets like these are what differentiate Mango from the real GOATS Armada and Hungrybox. Armada had only one loss to a non-top 6 player which was Swedish Delight and Hungrybox has way less losses to people outside of the top 10 than Mango. Mango cannot go a year without missing a top 8 or dropping sets he shouldn't like this one but Hbox is much more consistent with his wins/losses. This is why as time goes on Hungrybox will clearly surpass Mango and come into real contention with Armada for being the true GOAT of melee. Mango will continue to fumble as Hungrybox makes more and more top 8s and might even win majors again if he puts in the practice.
I would bet 100 bucks mango will be higher ranked and have higher peaks and better results overall than hbox by the end of this year. Mango actually tries to add new shit to his game Hbox is gonna stay getting destroyed by zain and cody as long as he doesn't give a shit to practice and add literally anything new at all to his game. And i want hgod to be back but he clearly cares more about streaming ultimate than being the best at melee again and that's fine and I don't blame him. but come on bro he plays fucking puff of course he's gonna be more consistent Hbox vs the best players has looked consistently bad since post pandemic. At smash con last year I thought I saw the real hgod back but he still ended up getting reverse 3-0d by zain and ended up doing bad at big house and genesis. Idk I want both of them to be back in prime form but they been playing a long ass time acting like hbox has more goat status than mango is just crazy when he did not have the peaks mango had at all post pandemic.
Not saying mango isn't a huge pussy not willing to play hbox for real at all last year like mango pisses me off too but armada don't play anymore and there's just no argument where hbox has higher goat status than either of them. Also armada quit right after losing to swedish and the overall level has improved exponentially since then at this point I just don't think he's in the conversation at all anymore as much as I wish he still played too. If hbox didn't find so much success streaming during covid I bet he would be the undisputable goat right now but I really don't think he cares at all to be the best now.
@@wettuna1769Imagine thinking that losing to rank 35 and 48 still makes you the GOAT over someone who went 8 straight years without losing to anyone outside of the top 6 lmao.
@@tristanswim this “had nothing to do with you” either, yet here you are. All jokes aside, me taking 10 seconds out of my day to reply isn’t exactly crazy.
