🎨 Army Painter FULL Speedpaint Mega Set 2.0 Review 

I, personally, love the speedpaints and your metallics are better than Citadel tbh. Greedy Gold is akin to wrapping the model in a gold sheet! Keep up the great work!

@TheArmyPainter I'm curious if they're meant to be applied over a zenithal or white prime, like other speedpaints, or are they best over a semi-gloss black or red prime like other metallic paints?

I think its hard to treat this as a "feature" when you find paint on your fingers while playing a board game using painted minis.

Not in the mega set, it has three repeats from the original set but are otherwise new & different. There's like a complete set that has all of the colors in 2.0 formula.

The bottles will say 2.0 eventually. At the very least single bottles will, I dont know if retail sets will to begin with. I believe it was suggested in the first release video by a user,

Finally, I am about as excited as you are, I think. I LOVE the 1.0, even with reactivation. I simply use it as a tool, for example to push highlights further. So theres at least three of us 1.0 lovers, Dana Howl being another. I am also less forgiving than you are about the backlash from the community, I think. AP specifically marketed the range as a one coat solution, and as NOT being a Contrast replacement. So I find it somewhat silly just how angry people became when they used a new product without making any effort to learn about its properties beforehand. That being said, AP should have realized that would be the expectation from the community, and I think you are correct in saying that. Your point about framing it as water color like is very interesting, but would likely have made the product harder to sell. So I see it as both sides making mistakes and unreasonable assumptions. Anyway, I think everyone came out on top, really. AP displayed willingness and ability to listen to the community and implement the received feedback, which I think will have created some very loyal customers. In addition, the new formula gives us the best of both worlds, IMO: slow drying paint which facilitates all the working methods I like about 1.0, like easy wet blending and the generous window to correct mistakes in. But we also get paints that cure properly and allow for layering. And at 50% the cost of contrast! So yeah, I've become a full blown fanboy it seems

Yes, this is only 50 of the full range of 90 colours. All of the original 24 colours will be included in the range when it’s complete with multiple set options and singles becoming available in the early-summer. Additionally, we will have new labels after the first run of the Mega Set. Unfortunately, we can actually make paints a lot faster than we can have labels printed these days. So, changing the labels to include that and some other naming features would have set this release back another 12-16 weeks. We didn’t want to do that. We address that in one of our Paint Development Team update videos :)

With some of the lighter shades they go too dull or don't show at all over black. If I'm doing multi-tone under coats I sometimes just go grey and white if I want a brighter look with some shade.
