So something so simple was has been so convoluted until now. Have you been doing it like me, too, until now, with the short fades without overlap, or did you make more of an effort? Is there anything else new that you like?
It helps a lot, thanks. What I am trying to figure out, is what does Cmd-T do? I like how it puts a transition on the Audio like Final Cut Pro 7 did, one you can actually see. But I am not sure what it does. I expand the audio, and I get some double audio thing, and the transition is on the top bar, but the bottom bar is where the fades from option-t go. So is it doing what I want?
Hey! Thanks for watching! If you have the audio *expanded* then the Standard Transition (⌘T) is _only_ applied to the video, nothing happens to the synched audio. If it's *_not_* expanded the transition is applied to both i.e. it applies a simple cross-dissolve to the audio (adjustable in the transition's inspector window). Visible if you expand the audio AFTER applying the transition. The techniques shown here are the only way to an *_audio_*-only cross-dissolve outside of doing it manually. Hope that helps!
Then you simply don't have the right area of the interface active or don't have a clip selected or it doesn't have audio. It can be any number of "logical" things. On the other hand, there is not a single situation I know of where the menu point "Adjust Audio Fades" is greyed out. So I really have no clue what it is you are doing or how. Simply assign a keyboard shortcut to whatever command it is you need and you won't need a menu at all.
@@Alvicatchannel To each their own, but there is no way that I would *_ever_* return to some completely archaic TRACK-based editor such as FC7 which couldn't even edit H.264 with its endless, convoluted menus and submenus, ancient codebase, and fugly, clumsy GUI. So I have no clue what there could possibly be to prefer, but oh well. But hey, if you actually prefer that, for whatever bizarre reason, then why wouldn't you then simply switch to Premiere or Resolve instead which are both very much like the dead FCP? No one is *_forced_* to use FC 10. Doesn't exactly make all that much sense. 🤷🏼♂
@@Alvicatchannel Yep. Whether with or without rhyme or reason. I can only tell you as someone that has been in the business for 30+ years and literally knows _hundreds_ of FC 10 users that were previously 7 users… *_not a single one_* would ever go back. Go figure. Must be a "professional editor" thing. 🤷🏼♂
