I think you can take the lyrics here but replace "TV" with "social media" and get basically the modern version of what it was written about back then.

Frank didn't like having to write lyrics he just wanted the band to be just an instrumental band but was convinced that he couldn't get his music recorded without lyrics. So he decided if he had to write them he was going write them about social issues and through the absurdity of the lyrics showing the absurdity of the subject he was singing about, in other word saying important things in satirical way.
