Thank you very much for finally making your recordings available to purchase! RU-vid audio is, well, not the greatest, and I have been waiting for this for quite some time. Also, I love the registrations on O Come, O Come Emmanuel - so many people play don't think when registering it and it can sound quite 'generic'.
Thanks Richard for this program! The hymn “Lo! He comes” really makes the season of Advent alive for me. May your Advent be full of hope and your Christmas full of joy!
I love Traditional Christmas hymns and am tired of listening to secular "holiday" jingles. Listening to them played on the majestic organ is simply breathtaking!
Thank you Richard for this. So special to remember all the good memories of Christmas and all the good times. This will be the 2nd Christmas without my Dad. I can still remember all the Christmases that I had with him. We also used to do a Christmas Carol Afternoon before Covid struck but have not done one since. I do miss our Christmas Carol afternoon which we used to have with my Dad conducting everyone and my Mom playing on the organ. 😢 So nice to hear you playing with such warmth and feeling. Thank you again Richard. 🇿🇦🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Very few can make the organ sing like you, Richard! Thank you for sharing this music with us! It's a wonderful way for us organists to kick off the Advent/Christmas season. Wishing you a Blessed and Happy Holiday season!!!
This is absolutely lovely! Calming. As one church musician to another, this is such a hectic and stressful time matched only by Easter/Holy Week. Remember to rest, destress and get plenty of water, sleep and good food. No quick tide-me-over snacks. Stay well and let's go God's Music Team! Merry Christmas to All and a Very Happy and Blessed New Year!!!!
Thank you Richard for playing these Advent carols to motivate our thoughts to the Christmas-time just around the corner! wishing yu Caroline & your two beautiful children a wonderful & Blessed Xmas🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
im a former choirboy of the Church Of The Redeemer in Toronto Canada and a few times at St.James Cathedral Toronto..of course i have choral organ music in my blood ..thank you for helping to continue this beautiful passion of yours me and others..God Bless you and your family!
You Bring the Full Magnificence of this Organ to Life Richard! Thank You So Much for This Concert of Christmas Hymns and Music! May You and Caroline and Your Family Have a Happy and Healthy Christmas and A Prosperous New Year!
Hi Richard, thanks for the beautiful Avent music. The best was the 4 hands on the organ. And you are also doing the pedals. This was fantastic!! Best regards, maarten buma Pretoria South Africa
Your arrangement of the 9th-century modal Advent hymn "Veni, Veni, Emmanuel" is the most glorious that I have heard. I can't get enought of it! The final stanza, in which you pull out increasing numbers of stops while keeping full control of the manuals is impressive. I can see how the music moves you, as in that last stanza you cannot help but let out with a big smile as the organ swells. Your Bach shows the same great love of what you are doing. (From a symphony concertmaster in the USA)
The organ there at Blackburn speaks quite clearly, even in that very reverberant acoustical setting. I really enjoy the “silvery” tones it is able to produce. The overall dynamic range and scope of colors are impressive. The sample set for this organ is outstanding. This is a very enjoyable recording!👍
Happy Christmas everyone! Apologies for the incorrect subtitles for the hymn 'On Jordan's Bank the Baptist's cry'. Here are the correct words: 1 On Jordan's bank the Baptist's cry announces that the Lord is nigh. Awake and harken, for he brings glad tidings of the King of kings! 2 Then cleansed be every life from sin: make straight the way for God within, and let us all our hearts prepare for Christ to come and enter there. 3 We hail you as our Savior, Lord, our refuge and our great reward. Without your grace we waste away like flowers that wither and decay. 4 Stretch forth your hand, our health restore, and make us rise to fall no more. O let your face upon us shine and fill the world with love divine. 5 All praise to you, eternal Son, whose advent has our freedom won, whom with the Father we adore, and Holy Spirit, evermore.
Wonderful playing, Richard! One other (very common) mistake in the subtitles in "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing": You have it listed as "hail the SON of righteousness"...when it should be "SUN" (which is the word that Charles Wesley used, from Malachi 4:2).
Thank you Richard McVeigh and John Hosking for making this day more glorious than it already is. And, thank you Caroline for occasionally adding your voice to the mix.❤️
I have been listening to this on loop for the last few days while studying and probably will continue to do so until Christmas. Thank you very much, Richard, for this lovely compilation of not only the well-known carols but also Advent hymns. The organ sound astounding through a pair of headphones: it is loud, ecxiting, and perfect for Christmas... ;) I cannot wait to see what BiS has in store for us for the remainder of the year until Christmas!
Just FYI concerning the High Plains of West Texas: In the latter sense, the High Plains may be said to cover the northernmost Panhandle of Texas, northeastern New Mexico, eastern Colorado, and westernmost Kansas. The High Plains are generally flat grassland, drained eastward by the Platte, Arkansas, and Canadian rivers. Love your music. Peaceful. Joyful. Thank you.
geoffrey griffith in philadelphia usa and former member of all saints anglican church choirs in st peter barbados west indies in the 1960 ties mr richard mcveigh you are the greatest with all these beautiful advennt and glorious christmas hymns all are my favorites over the years it brings back wonderful memories for me amen thanks
I bought the digital files (because impatience 😆) and is now loaded in my iTunes library and on my iPhone. Played it this morning loud in my airpods. Doesnt get better than this
Advent this year is relatively shorter compared to recent years. Recent years it began the last weekend in November whereas this year it's not starting till the 4th of December. Only 3 Sundays of Advent and what technically is the 4th Sunday of Advent is overlooked as it falls and ends on Christmas Eve. Doubt there be any mass to mark it as most churches and people are obviously gonna go to midnight mass
This is magnificent Richard, thankyou. A question- the reeds sounded as if tuning was needed? Love the " last verst" harmonies. Are they available to purchase? A very blessed Christmas to you all.
Please do explain why it gets annoying? From a visual aspect, or from the way it sounds? How else does an organist play the organ without changing the stops and therefore the dynamics?
WHAT a GLORIOUS start to ADVENT & CHRISTMAS! THANK YOU ALL! I post your programs on my X channel site, & recommend "folks give themselves a beautiful break/respite from politics"! BIS does represent much of the BEST of human endeavor...THANK YOU & blessings, again!
