The auto-shop is absolutely the route to go Rob. I bought my first ever electric guitar from eBay when I was 13, a dirt cheap B.C Rich Warlock... I was so devastated when it arrived and I noticed that the lower point of the guitar had a huge paint chip, very similar to your RA-4! My grandad suggested taking it to my next door neighbour, who owned and operated a body shop. I was so hesitant, I couldn't see it being restored, and by a car guy?? To my shock, I got that thing back a day or so later, you'd never know what happened... It looked absolutely perfect!!! Love the videos as always man, I've been a fan of yours, Chimaira, and the channel for so long! 🤘🤘

I absolutely love ESP guitars. I have a couple myself, including a custom shop. Just got back from Japan and I visited 3 of their craft houses. The guys were super cool and let me try out any guitars I wanted to, regardless of the price, which was very kind of them.

Yes Rob, auto body shops, absolutely. I had a good friend of mine that was a painter at a hot rod shop. I worked for him as his prepper. His work had been on the cover of car magazines and TV. And he was a Guitar player. We took on a lot of custom paint jobs and repair work on guitars. He had an in with a buddy at Guitar Center. That whenever they got a guitar that had a bashed corner. They'd give him with a screaming deal on it. He would repair it and you couldn't even tell it was ever damaged. And we're talking about some really custom colors. So yeah you're thinking the right thing. Since you have a friend in the business. Id definitely take advantage of that. And man, I wish I could go to Cleveland next month. I've always wanted to see you guys, live. P.S. I am an old dude that has Old Fenders, Gibsons and Charvels. Love them. But my son-in-law just got back from Japan. With a brand-new ESP Arrow. Holy GOD. What a guitar. You've got me crishin' that RA-4 with that "Strat" styling. Have a great show.

@@RobArnoldWorld Right on. Thank you. These little plastic cars are addictive. My buddy that I was telling you about that was the hot rod painter. He passed away 5 years ago. I did a couple videos about him. It's one of my early ones. look for the blue drag race Camaro in the thumbnail. His work will blow your mind. His name was Frank. Also, I have been doing this You Tube thing for 5 years now. You are really good at it. I hope this is successful for you and you keep doing it. It sure is a lot of hard work.

I had my first guitar repainted by a guy that worked at an auto body shop. He matched the original metallic silver paint exact. It turned out great. If you’re into really thin finishes it might not be the best choice.

I had a feeling Chimaira would ride again. Yeah it's only 3 gigs (for NOW) but I would not be surprised at all to see a full Tour and possibly new music on the future. Especially considering there's been a huge demand for them to reconvene for quite a while. Saw them but happenstance in December of 2001 as the opener for Slayer in Universal Studios. They were incredible and even better October 2005 on The Blackest of Black Tour (same venue).

Stoked you guys are playing together, even in a limited capacity. I saw you guys twice up here in Finland, once at a summer festival and once with DÅÅTH, UNEARTH and THROWDOWN (sick). I brought a date to the club show and she was a little "eager" let's say- had to tell her to calm down so I wouldn't miss any of the riffs. And boy there was a few at that show. I built a strat copy with scalloped neck using Warmoth parts and had the body painted by an auto body man. Just a solid color. Turned out great.

I've had guitars refinished before, but for most guitars, I just use nail polish to fill in chips. A couple of coats and you're good to go.

All of these are just eye candy Rob. SO much history in each one of those gems. 👏 👏 👏 👏 My first "Real" guitar was an ESP LTD M-1000 about 13ish years ago (still have it with all the Ibanez premium/prestige collection). I Only bought it because of you and Matt, shredding on them in all honesty. I felt, if I was going to learn your tunes. I should atleast be playing on a high end LTD. Over the years, I've grown into what some of my buddies call an "#IbanezSlut" But, after seeing that m-1007B and the crazy paint jobs the internet just showed me. It's about to be an LTD collection build time

I always thought it was weird the RA-600 was Gibby scale. I remember when it first came out I did a total double take. I figured you wanted a slinkier feel on the strings. Eventually I saw on here that it just came like that and you didn’t really notice. I find it kinda funny how good you play while not really being a guitar spec nerd like a lot of us. I always obsess about the perfect specs, but I’ll never be able to play like you. It’s super cool you reply to all comments. To me it’s like Kirk Hammett being on RU-vid and interacting. He might be more famous but you play better. Big fan Rob. Mad respect. About to join Patreon and pester you there. Best wishes my friend!

And yeah man, one thing I've found about entering the guitar space here on RU-vid, is that while I thought I was "into" guitar specs, and everything guitar related, I've realized that I've only scratched the surface on how into this stuff so many of you guys are! I’m also really hoping I can dig up an RA-600 one day, always wanted to try one from the moment I saw it, never got the opportunity. My main drop C guitar’s got a floyd, an 81 (and 60) and a reverse headstock, tho, so I came close in spirit!

sometimes i wonder if the guitars i buy and use are really used by the pros, its really cool to see that you mostly play the good ltds and its the same stuff we mortals have access to. it connects me to 'real;' musicians in a way. love it. (that esp with the skulls paint job is SICK though!)

I like the H-307 headstock but I think they could have found a slightly better place to put the logo. It’s a bit weird how it’s right over to the edge. And that RA-4 paint job is so cool. I’ll definitely pick up an RA-600 if I ever come across one for sale.

Hey Rob, Thanks for your videos! Guitars look INSANE!!!! With regards to the RA3, if ESP had to recreate it or bring out edition of them... noting that a lot of new guitars lately are coming out with Fishman pickups, would you prefer to have EMG81 as yours is/ the original, or have it "updated" with the Fishman pickups? Quite curious on the pickup selection as it seems like the EMG's are less used in modern times. Its a dream of mine to own a ESP RA3, absolutely love it! closest to a good ESP that I own is a LTD EC-50. Thanks so much Rob!

Really digging your channel, I'm 100% new to your band Chimaira, and have been checking out what I've missed. Great band, love the music. It's just really pretty great to hear someone talk in such an always positive light, I have mostly enjoyed hearing you speaking and descriptions of all this, it's the info a fellow guitarist wants to hear. Watched quite a few of your Floyd Rose videos, stellar information. I've played Floyds off and on since the late 80's, but I always have a guitar or two with a Floyd Rose and your videos kinda gave me some extra perspective with them. Really glad I found this channel!! (proofreading back thru this, and it sounds a little bit gay in a couple spots, but no, there's just always a slew of negative commenters always on peoples RU-vid videos, So I'm one who feels the need to add even a little positivity I can) Good stuff goin here Rob, its a fantastic alternate to the easy route of negativity.

My guess is the new surprise guitar is a KH model even though I vaguely remember you said you don't have a lot of love for other artists' signature guitars. Maybe that's a conversation I had with someone else? Anyway, I assume it has to have a floyd if you're going to play it in drop C for the show. Plus, you love the M-series shape with a reverse headstock. It should be a model that is still in production even though you've had your eye on it "for a really long time." A KH checks all of those boxes. But I'm probably wrong and when you reveal it I'm going to say OF COURSE IT'S THAT ONE! 🤦‍♂

Bring back the ra600. Hey rob I just got my first m series. It has emg 81 85 and is flat black with reverse headstock its the closest thing I could find to an ra 600. It would be cool to be able to get a rob Arnold signature loaded pick guard so you could make a normal m series into the rob Arnold style with the single pickups and the single volume knob that sits way out of the way. If I end up making my own rob Arnold out of this m series ill keep you posted on that.

I feel the same about wanting my stuff to be pristine. A few days after I bought an ESP Edwards Alexi V I accidentally knocked the body with a strap lock. Left a tiny little ding in the top of the body and it broke my heart! I feel your pain, Rob.

There's actually no real reason behind it to tell you the truth. A long time luthier buddy of ours helped design and spec out all of Matt DeVries and my customs, and he suggested the shorter scale. We didn't argue. I don't really notice any difference between my 24.75" guitars, and my 25.5" guitars. However, when they start to get longer, like on baritones or 7's, I definitely notice, and miss the shorter scale!

Hey Rob, will you guys be streaming the reunion shows somewhere that i can pay to watch? One solution to your chips/dents is wetsanding the spot out and relicing it. I have an artist friend who airbrushes over bondoed repairs on guitars. I just dented a guitar i was building so I’m having to figure that out.

I just try and get them up close to the strings, but in a way where they don't interfere with the strings in any way. And I'll often raise my treble side slightly higher in an effort to help my leads cut through the mix!

My Kramer Sustainer I got back in 89 That I repainted for that exact reason. First day I had it got dropped. NASTY chip around the GutCut. Next door to where I was working at the time was a body shop and I knew them for a few years. I had to do all the prep work before he would paint it. The paint looked AWESOME but there was only one thing. My prep work was decent at best, could have been better and I was unable to put that FloydRose sustainer system back together. I was early 90's and tring to find a diagram was impossible so I had to ditch it for EMG's. Now I have a Sustainiac in it and I am loving it. My suggestion would be do it.
