New HEAD Speed 2024 tennis rackets are here and they introduce a new "rubber" like soft finish to the frame. This might sound great on paper, but in a real life scenario this can be very annoying. Why I don't like this paintjob? Let's talk about it in this video and enjoy the manooovrlbity!

Great video. I've heard no other reviewer talk about this so your analysis is very much appreciated. Head actually first used this rubberised paint job on the "intelligence" line over 20 years ago. I own two Prestige versions which were one of the best racquets I've over played with. However, this rubberised paint job actually wears off and if you rub the frame hard enough, it comes off like rubber !! Not sure if the reason why it comes off easily is because I've owned it for so long and the rubber has oxidised but I certainly don't remember it coming off this easily when I first owned it.

Yeah, rubber will eventually fall apart and crumble into pieces. Maybe this one will be better, the question is for how long.

Maybe a way to increase swingweight without actually change anything else ? I don’t even like the new b/w pattern , the 2022 one is way more “classy”
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
Maybe, that's a good point. The rubber paintjob can increase the weight of the frame in all directions and the inner part made of carbon fiber can be little bit different. So the paint actually can substitute some of the mass of the carbon fiber, which can actually have impact on the overall comfort that can be better and also better stability. But on the other hand this can also lower the cost of the manufacturing so they don't have to invest so much into gloss and they can safe some carbon fiber layers, too. Now I'm super curious about the real swingweight as I will measure it very soon. TW numbers seems to me over the roof - Pro version 333 and MP version 330? You cannot be serious!

Which strings do you think play their best on Head Speed Pro? E.g. Yonex PolyTour Pro doesn't work so cool as on Yonex frames. Luxilon AluPower shines though And is there any string to tam a bit the power of Speed MP?

hi there Michal, thanks for the heads up! I've got a question on this topic: what about using a mildly wet rag after training to clean the dirt? Does it work or the frame still retains some clay/still has stains on it?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
Hi Filmercy, I'm glad I pointed out something interesting. To answer your question - yes, wet rag works. Your idea got it into the final review so you can expect some cleaning scene in that video quite soon 😀. Thank you for your idea. 👍

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the new Dunlop CX series. New mold, stiffer layout, more open string pattern, they (Dunlop) actully doing new things from one line release to the next.

I actually likebthe slight grip, my fingers dont slip. Gloss sometimes feels like a ice skating ring. Sonce this is a slightly thicker beam then 98s its noce to have thr extra grip

I like the matte finish but not the rubbery one. I hope they do not going to implement the same in all the line but I'm happy to have bought the boom pro 2022 few months ago.

Also to add that auxetic 2.0 muted the feel even more…..less power and spin too.
@CzechTennisGuy

Yes, that's probably true. But more control in my opinion. Connection to the frame is also quite good.

@@CzechTennisGuy I trust you. But personally now i have found a racquet out of nowhere and has blown me away. I am playing with blade v5 and haven’t found yet sth better to switch. Trust me i have demoed everything out there. By accident i got a shift pro and couldn’t believe how this frame can literally do everything and in every surface. Such a great all around frame. I am lucky because I can’t play with high swing weights….. the one I found has a SW of 318 strung with 1.25 string. Power, control, spin everything. And the funny thing is that I hated shift 300…… I couldn’t play with that stick. So now i don’t even care to demo blade v9 and new strikes. That’s how good of a frame shift pro is. I just need to found more with low SW.

What racquets do you recommend for a 4.0-4.5 level player who plays only on hard courts
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
There are too many rackets to pick just few of them. The most important thing is how you play, what you expect from a racket, your style, your swing path, power level, swing speed, technique, footwork etc. Probably for you any 290-300g racket with a 645 cm2/100 in2 headsize. Pure Drive / Speed MP / Gravity MP / Extreme MP / Dunlop CX 400 Tour.

I remember reading about the aerodynamic benefit of that type of rubberized paint, but you felt the racket was sluggish while swinging. Being a neat freak, I can't stand anything that becomes a dirt magnet. It's a shame really, this racket was on my short list to replace my old rackets.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
I have to say that the Pro version is now excellent for my taste thanks to the 310 mm balance so it's a shame that they don't stick to the old formula and create a proper glossy frame. The racket really plays great and it could have been a perfect frame without the rubber paintjob. But of course if you can get over it, you will be very happy with the rackets.

These things you mentioned probably can be said for the new boom 24? Do you think there's a lot of difference between the former model?
@CzechTennisGuy

I'm really not sure about that. I hope I can get hands on the new Boom V2 rackets this year.
@experientialtennis

I've watched just the first minute of this video and feel I have to jump in. The new "rubbery" paint is a huge issue I noticed and commented as soon as I first noticed the paint. It's something between the Diadem V3 Elevate and Pro Kennex Black Ace (yellow part) Black Ace Pro (red part) that feel sticky, rubbery, fingers get sweaty and the feeling is horrible.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
When it's new, it looks good, but I'm worried about the frame after tens of hours on court, in the sun, during summer. Anything can happen. People leave the rackets in hot cars, in hot bags and this paintjob can melt like an icecream. But maybe I'm wrong. Time will tell.

Just like the Wilson Blades and Clash hate that sticky feeling!!! Stringing other peoples rackets their sweat sticks to it also they get so dirty and nasty!!!

It's rubbish, I'm telling you. I didn't like this paint-finish on the Diadem Elevate V3 and I'm a Diadem-guy!
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
That's a good point. Usually the rubber melts during time in hot conditions and it can become very sticky. Of course we cannot prove that, but it's a concern.
@jerome_morrow
@jerome_morrow 4 месяца назад
@@CzechTennisGuy It doesn’t even have to be hot conditions. Over time, the rubber component degrades; so even when stored in a cool dry cupboard, it can still become horribly gooey. I had 3 iPrestiges with that type of rubbery finish and they all went that way after a few years. I’ve driven cars with dashboard buttons that have a similar type of finish and the same gooey longer term issue. Awful decision by HEAD. I sometimes wonder if this is a trick by manufacturers to make us buy new racquets! Thankfully, the satin-matte paint on the Gravity racquets is remarkably durable.

Seems like Head have a problem here :) what were they thinking of? they lost their heads obviously 😅
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
😀 Lost their HEADs...they are obviously targeting masses and new audience. I think they want to make people think it's something premium, special. Interesting is that when I showed the rackets to other 2 tennis guys, both told me, that the paintjob feels cheap. And one of the guys is a user of Pro Staff RF97 with the similar rubber-like finish and even he told me he doesn't like this version of paint. I think HEAD and other brands should in the near future start offering various version of the paintjob so we can choose what we really want. Matte, gloss, rubber. I don't really care if I have to wait for the frame a month or so to be made extra for me and I would even pay some extra fee for the pure glossy frame.

Head do some great things(Auxetic to begin with) then do some stupid things like you have outlined in the video. These Head Speeds look like the WORST cosmetic yet and seem to be an uglier version of Graphene 360+(version before first Auxetic). Honestly though is the newest Auxetic any better or different?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 4 месяца назад
It's probably one of the worst designs and paintjobs. The white color doesn't really looks white, it has this Boom like shade. The difference is very small in my opinion when comparing the Auxetic 2.0 with the first generation. Maybe it is even more muted. But the rackets play very well, very solid all round rackets as always. Pro version is better than the last gen thanks to the 310 mm balance at least for my taste. And the swingweight remained very high. Maybe the rubber finish has increased the swingweight little bit. I really don't like that the rackets get so dirty on clay, that's the biggest negative.
@mattiastennis
@mattiastennis 4 месяца назад
@@CzechTennisGuy It seems like Auxetic 2.0 is not worth it and if its more muted it raises further doubts. I can only agree- the cosmetic is hideous and they didnt even need to do an update but this is the Corporate World as we mentioned in the past. Regarding Clay its more idiotic because I know a lot of Head's customer basis is in Europa where clay is the most used surface. I would like to try a Head Speed Pro and I will do a Battle of the Pros in a racquet review soon- Gravity vs Speed vs Boom. I actually have liked Gravity Pro so far but want to give Speed Pro and Boom Pro fair trials though I have a feeling Speed Pro is more for 2-handers rather than 1-handers..
