Your review is so detailed and in debth. Thank you for the time and effort . Everything is so true what you found out and it‘s exactly what I felt and thought initially when I first played the racket. It really surprised me in such a good way. It has all you need and it does directly what you choose at each stroke. Great how you explain the new technology. The way the feeling travels from the head in the hand, it‘s fascinating. I also like your seriousness but also self Ironie:-) with the unspeakable word.

So now you got me psyched up about trying to boom pro, I love playing with the micro gel radical 98 MP with the stock sonic pro 17 gauge string right down at 55 pounds. I love the sound, weight racquet up to 336 g with tungsten puddy in butt cap..bringing headlight to 7-8 pts..and the I play with a dampner. My question is what string would you pair this with to get that nice sound and “thud” that I get ?!

Hi, thanks for this great review! I've demoed Boom Pro for 2 hours, unfortunately with quite heavy string tension 25/25 kg head lynx something (tour perhaps i was unable to read), and it felt very sluggish and powerless, I'm playing with speed mp currently 23/24 kg. What string and what tension did you use for testing?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
Thank you for your comment and experience. The thing with Boom rackets is that if you pick them up after playing with some other rackets from Head like Speed, Gravity, Radical or Extreme, you might feel that the racket is really underpowered. And yes, it is, because it's much more balanced to the hand and it lacks the swingweight of other rackets. But after you get use to the easy swing and control, it feels just great. I did use the completely new Head Lynx Touch 1.25 which was strung around 24/23 kg, but after playtesting it more and more, it was around 20 kg, so it got much softer and it works great with the racket. I recommend stringing the Boom Pro with a softer poly at around 22-24 kg at max, and after 2-4 hours the setup gets little bit softer and hits the sweatspot. It's a modern trend to string the rackets little bit softer so you get more feel and easy power from them. So try it one more time with lower tension and you will love it.

Ahoj Michale :-) great review, I really enjoy your videos not only in CZ but English as well. Maybe one comment to the name you mentioned - the expression "BOOM" was not intented to understand as the stick has huge power and you will just shoot bombs. I watched some HEAD video where they explained how they got to the idea of the name. And originally it should express also the demo name BOOM - YOU GOT THIS! in the meaning of a sensation of getting something awesome that just works perfectly - (kur.a to je vono 😀) Keep up the work you´re doing - it´s better and better. Looking forward to next videos.

Thanks for the great review. Now I absolutely have to demo the Boom Pro :-) I checked online shops worldwide, the swingweight was anywhere from 324 to 332. One shop from Australia listed an unstrung swingweight of 299. You should end up at around 329 strung (poly 1,25mm). Was the weight and balance otherwise right on your demo racket? With which string did you measure the swing weight?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
You're welcome and I thank you for your comment. The swingweight for the Boom Pro, if it is on the correct specs, is around 315-320, not more. If it is overbalanced, more to the head and with higher static weight around 315 g unstrung, then it can possibly have higher swingweight around 325-330. If some shop listed 332, than it's probably a huge mistake on the manufacturing site. Rackets can have up to 7 g difference in the specs. Each 1 g in the head is around 2-4 swingweight points. So if you have a racket that is on the quality control limit, let's say Boom Pro with 317 g unstrung, then it can possibly have extra 14-28 SW points. So yes, it can happen, but it is obviously not good for the customer and it completely changes how the racket plays. I suspect that many stores measure the rackets, and they put the highest number of the whole batch on their list. It should be an average number. For example you measure 5 Boom's Pro with these specs - 311, 316, 322, 325, 330 SW. Than you should count an average number from these, which is 320,8 SW and this should be on their website. But they put the highest number (330 SW), because they want to sell the racket better and to show that it has more performance for the advanced and experienced players. I didn't measure my Boom Pro without strings, just with strings. It is 325,6 g strung with Head Lynx Touch 1.25 (completely new string from Head, now goes to stores), let's say a standard softer poly string, that weights around 16-18 g. Not a big deal there. So the unstrung specs for my Boom Pro are around 307 g, which is actually not that bad. Strung balance is 319/320 mm, which is almost perfect with strings. Without them it would be around 310 mm as the specs says. And yes, you have to demo the Boom Pro, it is a wonderful racket.

Hi , Thnks for the test review. Have you tried the blade 100 v8? Can you compare it with boom pro?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy Год назад
Hello, I reviewed the Blades v8 in Czech, but you can read it translated to English here: satna-sportobchod-cz.translate.goog/recenze-wilson-blade-v8-tenisove-rakety-ktere-maji-riz/?_x_tr_sl=cs&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=cs&_x_tr_pto=wapp . They are quite different. Boom Pro has a smaller Head and feels more control oriented, but with very crisp feel and good amount of power. Blade v8 100 is more flexible, comfort oriented with bigger head, nice touch and smooth feel. It's not that crisp or powerful like the Boom Pro. For me Blade = smooth feel, nice overall playability. Boom rackets are more generous in terms of power and sweetspot. So if you want a more refined, smooth experience and nice feel, go for Blade = advanced player. If you want more power with a direct feedback, hitting hard from any position, go for the Boom Pro - intermediate player.

I come from a pure aero 2019, I want to change to an ezone 100 2022 or the head boom pro, which one would you recommend? I'm playing some games with ezone and the stability and maneuverability is INCREDIBLE, not to mention the quality of the yonex, on the other hand I really like the color of the boom pro, which one do you recommend for the change? THANK YOU ❤️
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy Год назад
If you come from Pure Aero 2019, better would be the Ezone 100 2022 - it has similar power and spin potential. Maybe it's little bit more straightforward, usefull for baseliners with fast game, even hitting flat. It has great feel and stability. The Boom Pro is more muted, it's actually a more control oriented frame with, but quite low power so you need to swing very fast to get the maximum out of it.

Hey man nice review! For me the greatest think about the Boom Pro is the feel. I don't know how Head actually did it but the racquet feels buttery flexible and steel loaded with good power. Compared to my Radical Pro 2021, It has easy power, spin and depth, although sometimes it gets a little bit sluggish, but when I finally realized I needed to increase the swing speed to get some control I began to play way better with it. Also the head shape makes the sweetspot tad difficult to find at first, and demands some adaptation time. Anyway, as you said, the racquet is so easy to use that is hard to take it out of my bag lol.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
Thank you. Yes, the Booms need fast swing to work. Otherwise they are pretty lazy compared to other rackets from Head like Speed, Gravity or Radical. But that is the point with Booms. you can swing freely and the ball goes always in.

Hey, thanks for your invested time, great review. I am playing the actual VCore Pro 100, same as you play, right? Is there something, or some aspects you are missing when playing with the VCore Pro? Does the stolen headshape work better than the original one from Yonex? Best wishes from Bremen Andre
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
Hello Andre, thank you for your comment. I don't play with Yonex. I play with Tecnifibre T-Fight XTC 295. The stolen headshape from Head does work a little bit different. It's more easy to use and probably it has a little bit more free power and even feel. The original Isometric head shape from Yonex is more stable and overall reacts better to aggressive style of play, especially on defense, volleys and returns. In terms of sweetspot size, Head Booms feel really generous at the top where you hit the ball, but Yonex is generous all over the head, also on the lower parts of the racket, which can help you with some off shots when in a difficult positions, like on the fast reaction volleys on the net or returns. Booms on the lower part of the head struggle a little bit with overall control of the ball and the energy transfer to the ball is on the lower part limited. It's something for something. Cheers to Bremen.

There are many reviewers out there on RU-vid, but you seem to have very honest opinions with exact details. Thanks again. I Love the huge Yonex sweetspot of the 100 models and the relatively low swingweight. Does your Tecnifibre just fit right into your wheelhouse or is the racket that good?

@@Andre-qm6we Vielen Dank. I did play a very long time with Pure Drive+, I believe 15-20 years. Last 3 years I play with Tecnifibre due to my contract with them. The TF T-Fight XTC 295 is very similar to Pure Drive, is almost the copy of the racket, but it is easier to swing with and I have a better control over the racket. It suits my game perfectly. From the Vcore Pro I really enjoyed the 100 version and If I had the option to buy one racket from the Vcore Pro line, it would be the 100 version. Great power, easy to control, perfect stability, great energy transfer to the ball, great feel and huge sweetspot. I like the racket on volleys very much, it's unbeatable, it stays in the position no matter how hard the ball you try to play. I like the feel of the racket, which is kind of muted, but at the same time very responsive and solid through the whole frame. It feels like a classic frame to me, but more easy to play with. So if you like to try 100 version, it is great and I recommend it very much.

I know the review is 1yr old, but willing to ask some question as your review and test are soooo complete. For a returning player 45+ used to play with pro staff Classic 6.1 95 18x20 (too heavy for me now as Is 370+gr strung) the boom pro will be a good transition to achieve a more modern forehand by keeping touch and feel especially on net. Some other racquets that may fit the same needs?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 6 месяцев назад
First of all thank you for your story and kind words. I would say from the newest rackets the best transition from such a pro level racket like Pro Staff Classic 6.1 95 I would suggest you go straight to something like Yonex Percept 97. Review for this racket is coming in a couple of days. Such a lovely easy playing racket with great touch, feel, comfort and precision. And it has the classic look and style to it with 21 mm boxed beam. Boom Pro is for sure a great racket for someone who is new into this department of rackets with 98 in2 head size and smaller, but the Percept feels more refined, more delicate and precise. From other racket brands you can always try the Blade 98 from Wilson, which is a nice mix between all the modern racket attributes like spin, feel, control and precision. The Blade is probably harder to play with than the Percept 97, though. I also like the Extreme MP/Tour sticks from Head, rackets of the year 2022 in my opinion. But for now, Percept is the new sensation I would recommend for most people.

Hi, I demoed the BOOM last week and loved it, so I ended up buying one. When I demoed, it had been freshly strung with Head Hawk Touch 17/1.25 @ 52lbs. I had a lot of power but not much control. I still loved the frame though. When I bought it, I got Head Lynx Touch 17/1.25 @ 52 lbs. The racket doesn't feel that great with this setup, in my opinion. The ball seems to spring off the racket - I don't feel like the strings are pocketing the ball very well. I'm considering getting Babolat RPM Blast 17/1.25 @ 52lbs tension in the mains and Babolat Touch VS 16/1.30 @ 50lbs on the crosses. I'm also thinking about using a full bed of HyperG soft or Pro tour poly. What do you think this frame will respond best to?

Hi, I can't tell because I've tested the Boom rackets with Lynx Touch and I quite liked that. Which is a better racquet for an advanced player the Vcore Pro 97 310 or the Boom Pro?
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
It depends on what do you mean by advanced. These two rackets are really different from each other quite a bit. The Vcore Pro 97 is for the competitive experienced player with tournament ambitions. The Boom Pro on the other hand is for advanced players, who don't seek the best precision and control, but who want easier approach to a player's racket, with great maneuverability, feel and easy swing. So if you are not planning on playing some tournaments on a higher level, go for the Boom Pro.

Thank you. If you have a Pure Strike 98 16x19 background, the Boom Pro 98 will feel like a demo racket with everything stripped down. With Boom Pro you will have to strike the ball a lot faster to get the same energy out of the frame. The Booms in general are great rackets for players who often cannot find the lines of the court and they go wide. Boom offers a great energy absorption with quite impressive overall control. I'm not talking about precision, though. Precision is superior for the Pure Strike line and there are almost zero replacements for the Pure Strikes surgical accuracy. So if you will let yourself a chance to test the Booms rather than buying them immediately, you will probably find out that Booms have a completely different target audience. Instead of Pure Strikes you can try Head Extreme MP/Tour or the new Tecnifibre TF-X1 305 (98inch) frame.

Of course, 31mm balance seems easy to swing, but you still have 310g in the hands on the pro version. I believe it could become tiresome at some point on the serve and if playing matches one after the other.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
The balance really matters also for the long term play, because it is the way how you hold the weight. If it is balanced more to the hand, you can hold the racket for a longer period of time, because the main weight of the racket is under your control. For example today I played a very exhausting training indoors with 31°C / 88 Fahrenheit temperature because of the sunny day outside, that caused the plastic bubble indoors court to warm up dramatically, and I played with the Speed Pro and I was tired as hell. My swing was slow, I was always late and I couldn't control the racket I wanted. So I switched to Boom Pro that I luckily had with me in the bag during the training and my performance raised dramatically. I mean I was playing 100% better. The mistakes weren't there anymore. And remember, the Boom Pro has smaller headsize, but no issues with that at all. I just felt like I can swing the racket exactly the way I wanted. So the difference is actually huge at the end.

@@CzechTennisGuy I agree it's huge in the play. Just saying it's not as easy with your body as it might appear. That's what I experienced with similar frames at least, especially on the serve as I'm more enclined to shoulder pain.
@CzechTennisGuy
@CzechTennisGuy 2 года назад
@@charlesdesbrosses9931 If you have shoulder pain that is caused by movement, not impact of the racket, it is really better to play with a lighter frame. Just now I'm testing once again the Tecnifibre TF-X1 racket 285 g version and I really like it. It is stiff though. But the power from this lighter frame is huge. It feels like a 300 g racket, similar to Pure Drive, but it is so easy to swing with. Playing with the Diadem Nova FS 100 and Elevate FS 98, the Head Boom feels like it's ideal for someone to make the transition from 100 sq inch to 98 sq inch racket. * I ordered a Wilson Blade v5 (2015 model) 18*20. Do you have any experience with that one? I wanted to have a 18*20 racket.

@@experientialtennis I've had both Blade v5 98 16/19 and 18/20 versions brand new, but I sold them. I bought them in a sale few years ago as a spare racquets for my students, but never had the opportunity to hit with them. But they have beautiful design, they look like pro stock rackets.

@@CzechTennisGuy got to hit with the 18*20 for an hour yesterday. Had a multifilament Wilson Sensation string prestrung. I want to see how it plays with a polyester. This 1 hour though, the launch angle and net clearence was much lower than any other racket. Must be the 18*20 pattern. Control levels are insanely good!

@@experientialtennis Yep, the 18x20 pattern is stiff and feels dead at net when you don't hit the ball exactly on time. It's like the ball stays glued to the strings. Maybe the polyester string can actually make it more livelier.
