When her basic game can show up Sabalenka is the more dominant. But if not she is vulnerable. With the years AO turns out to be the surface that fits her most. Zheng had the easiest path but she has the potential to be a slam contender, she has aleady enriched her game.

Sabalenka showed no mercy this competition so it was deserved. Coco was the only person to actually show any threat the whole competition. Sabalenka is the most consistent female player on tour!

For the first time in more than a decade, a woman defends her AO title. Aryna follows her fellow Belarusian Vika in going back to back. Vika beat a Russian in 2012 and then a Chinese in 2013. Aryna beat an ethnic Russian last year and now a Chinese.

She’s a great player but her grunting is border line illegal. It’s still going when the ball meets contact with the opposition player’s racket. That can’t be right.

@@samuelwilson9082 large proportion of players ( male included ) grunt. It’s par for the course. No issue with that. Sabalenka’s though is a problem. You can’t be making noise when the ball is literally on the racket of the opposition player.

Congratulations to Aryna , But this finale is just prefect example why WTA is about to bankrupt . Same price money for what ? 1h 12 min ? Cheapest ticket on top row is 500$ , this is ridiculous. Unfortunately the level of WTA players is very low now for money they asking for .

The level isn’t low. The players are not the problem. Make the women play five sets in slams. It’s a simple fix.

@@Martinlovestennis She’s the world number 12 and has been tipped for GS finals for a while. She lost this match because Sabalenka was on a warpath and destroyed everyone she played. The level of tennis is not the problem. Want to avoid paying $500 for a 72 minute match? Play five sets. More chance for players to change strategy, tougher and more interesting progression of matches, fewer early exits for top seeds and longer matches overall. Easy fix except for the scheduling trouble.

I was rooting for Zheng, but she played so bad today :/ I found myself asking how someone with her game Style can even make it this far. Her missed first serves is something you'd see in an amateur League. She barely switched up the game and her balls were placed so bad, that Sabalenka barely had to run at all. I hope she'll improve and come back stronger
