I am too! I have empty storage places and clutter out because I want the drawer organized. When I start organizing I start with the cabinets and drawers so I will be able to put things away in an organized way. I label shelves, drawers, boxes and bins!
I have piles in perfectly clean and tidy rooms as well! I can’t put things away until I can put it away exactly how I envision it in my head. It would drive me more bonkers to put it away knowing it’s not how I want it. It literally will give me anxiety knowing it’s not right. I am the same way about redecorating a room. It will drive me bonkers until I have it just right with all the pieces I want to go in the room. I’m a cricket 🤣🤣 totally explains why other people’s organization drives me nuts 🤣🤣
The part where you explain about how you came up with the bug system is so inspiring. It shows that even if you started out completely out of passion and the financial side of it had to take a backseat, a dedication to your work and appreciating the clients will pay off in the long run.
I'm a butterfly... with chronic fatigue... mostly I just need garbage cans all over my house, and someone to go around emptying them for me every day. LOL Please send me all your butterfly storage solutions. haha
Put a glass door display cabinet right near your favourite spot. Where do you spend a lot of time? At your desk? In a recliner? Fill that with as many of your favourite things as possible and then get someone to help you declutter the rest of your home. Less is best when you have no energy. Have no more than you can take care of. Whole getting rid of stuff that's useless or you have duplicates of, if you get overwhelmed, go to your favourite place and sit with your favourite stuff until you feel better then try again.

BINGO!!!! The gold nugget in this video that I needed to understand was that an individual may have different organizing styles for different things, i.e. paperwork, etc. One style may not necessarily apply to all the things one wishes to organize. BRILLIANT!!!! That is where I have been stuck and now I know I can apply that principle and get organized. Yay! ❤️

This video sums me up. I am a 🦋 butterfly who tried to organize as a 🐞 ladybug. Pretty containers failed (stacked and exiled to the garage) and clear labeled bins work. Lol
Love your personality and style. I always listen while I’m trying to clean and organize. It’s so helpful. Some other channels have videos where they have minutes of just video, without audio. I don’t want to watch someone else organizing and cleaning. I like to multi-task--listen, work, and peek up at the video here and there. I'm a total 🦋 lol I took your quiz back in January & boy it hit me dead on! also my hubby is a 🐝 lol when you pulled out that first bin I was thinking "pretty but would help me none" then you pulled out the clear and I was like "yess" haha clear bins or relatively see through are my jam & labels for the not so easily seen! So I can just quickly glance and know what it holds makes me feel better about my systems. what you said about lids too was correct. I'll just pile things around it 😂 loved this!! OH MY Gosh.. I did the test and it came out I'm a cricket without piles. When you talked about what a cricket does.. My husband said "your a cricket on steroids. I have organized our 2 homes and our RV too. I have tried to help family members but its hard when you go back to their house and its back in a mess. Now I understand / YOUR THE BEST..
as a butterfly I LOVE the clear tool boxes with the small compartments. as a crafter I love how it looks, and I love how portable they are. if I leave it on the table it doesn't look bad and it's easy to put back up!

Love this video, more bug style videos please!! I did the test a while ago and found out I was a bee and after watching this video i can see that now. Must make my husband take the test, I think he's a lazy cricket or perhaps a selective cricket?! When we have guests due and we're doing a frantic tidy up, he will decide its time to sit down and sort the junk drawer/stationery drawer/random area etc. x

I am a cricket. I knit and all my stuff gets organised to the nth degree! Needles by size, length, material, colour, make! I love the see through organisers with dividers. To be honest, sorting and counting and even just looking through my stuff is as enjoyable as knitting. When I get gifts I'm as excited about the box or tin it comes in as the gift itself! 🤣🤣🤣

I am a ladybug. I love the chaos to be in bins. I feel that I can still find what I need. It is in THAT bin - just dig a little and you will get there. I can't be bothered to have small little containers to put every little thing into. And I can't handle seeing ALL THE CLUTTER! My husband is a bee. I recall putting all this reno 'things' into a box/bin after a days work. I can't handle the (visible) clutter. I even find tags on the bins to be a bit annoying - but it does help others to navigate. This was a great video. Smart one you are!
Cas - you have no idea how you have revolutionized my world! I had no idea that there was a difference in natural tendency organizations styles. My husband and I are very happy but we drive each other nuts with our different organization styles (I a butterfly and he a ladybug) and I never understood why before! I just thought I was a broken organizer! Thank you so much!
CASSIE ILTEN They are from Dollarama! Problem is... everything is from $1-$4 their now. But $4 is still amazing for those totes! I was super impressed with the quality that I'm going back for more 😊

Six boys? You are already a superwomen! Bins and labels, labels and bins! Both Bee's and Butterflies struggle to purge the most, so just push yourself to get rid of as much as you can!

I have definitely begun tossing and donating, well in all honesty, packing and storing the donation items in my dinning room. 🙄😆 I just feel like I'm not making much headway, probably because I have so many projects going, 🤔 on top of the constant daily clutter and picking up behind 7 other people.. 😛. I tried to make an action list of priority organizing projects.. I stopped when I filled a whole page, pinned it to the corkboard in the kitchen..now it stares at me while I'm trying to nurse my baby, and nothing has gotten finished! 😂😂😂 Thank you for your honesty and inspiration! WITH the piles. but they are very organized piles in nice boxes.. one for shredding, one for kids papers to keepsake and one for filing I the file cabinet. my kids called it when she talked about the batteries they said "THAT YOU!!" HAHA... yes it's me, same as when we do puzzles, Legos and build robots.. it all has to be layed out property organized before we attempt to put it together... always thought it was a good quality of mine though 😆
Same here. I decided that I am a bee. I do have tons of projects but I liked them stored away until I am ready for them BUT I need to see them to remember to do them! lol
Oh my. I am very VERY much a Cricket! This explains so much! I’m in the middle of organizing my sewing room. It took me four days just to sort and fold my fabric (perfectly), by type, then put in color order! All my threads sorted by color, then in a drawer of that same color. The bins-in-bins description fits me to a T. This also helped me understand why other people in my family can’t organize like I think they should. I’ll be more patient with them now. Great info.
And want to add my husband seems like a lady bug and when he picks up the house he grabs a bin, puts EVERYTHING in it and just leaves it!!! Drives me completely insane! (I am a butterfly.)
Nicole Rinaldo I totally get this. On the extremely rare occasion that my husband "helps out around the house" he just grabs everything and dumps the lot on the counters in our tiny kitchen in massive nonsensical piles that are far harder for me to sort through than if he had just left the stuff I it's original location. Then he puts on his "you're welcome" face. Drives me nuts!

I do the same thing with Dollar Store bins. I had quite a pile. I saw a restaurant had tons of herbs and plants in galvanized bins and it looked so cute. Today I spray painted four of them silver and they look so cute. Going to plant tomorrow.

I was literally talking yesterday with my mother about how her larder organisation is too difficult for me, because she puts everything in labelled clear containers with the lids on, and I convinced her to let me take the lids off the containers which have already sealed contents. Then I take your quiz today, end up as a butterfly, and your advice is clear containers.... with the lids off!! 💛

Now u helped me understand his side n now I organise his stuff his way . With my touch . I couldn't tell what I was before, but I'm such a visual person. And I like easy access. This video was so much more in-depth of each of those categories. Even talking about the craziness of all the excessive boxes for this video was amusing at the end.

I'm mostly cricket, but Im also visual with some stuff and use clear and opaque bins and such depending on what it is. I think my husband is a butterfly. He's messy!!! 😄
So, I have been binging your videos for the past few days (since I recently discovered you).. and it took me a couple of days to figure out, but now I know. I am a cricket (your test pegged me right) in most of the things.. my husband is a ladybug. I explained the whole system to him this way -- (and you may have figured this way also, pardon me if this is useless repeating.. I am yet to catch up with all your videos) -- I drew a 4 quadrant picture for him - x-axis goes micro(left) to macro(right) organizing style. And y-axis goes non-visual(bottom) to visual(top) ease-of-use style. And this means, the top left is bee, top right is butterfly, bottom left is cricket and bottom right is a ladybug. I also told him this is a spectrum, not 4 absolute buckets that people fall into.. and we can organize different areas of the house, by different quadrants.. and even different shelves on bookcase can be a mix. -- took me 5mins to explain it to him and now, we have an awesome language to communicate ease-of-use, longevity of our organizing and the aesthetic style we are going for. This is brilliant!!! Thank you!
I love the idea of a project bin. I started collecting cords, phone chargers etc and putting them in boxes when I have time to go though them....now I can have a nice looking container to put everything in one place

The quiz determined that I am a cricket but after watching the video I think that I am more of a bee! I don't like clear bins but I do love a hyper-organized bin! I am loving those bins with clear and black sides. As soon as you held that up I gasped! Where have those been my whole life?!
Oh My goodness, this cricket does love the containers inside a container and I stock up on divided organizers at the hardware store when on clearance. I have one just like that tackle box you showed for my batteries. So yes!!!! Thanks for doing the comparisons.
