The work is part of a major renaturation project undertaken by the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park. The removal of river weirs helps to give rivers a more natural character, improving flow conditions and restoring ecological continuity.
Removing a structure in a river requires major work that is likely to degrade the quality of the aquatic environment. The principle adopted here is to channel the river over a reduced section so that work can be carried out in the dry and to limit the release of suspended matter into the water.
The project was carried out by a small team, without the addition of any external materials. The flexible cofferdam perfectly matches the profile of the river and the diversion pipe.
