Get rid of that Dentist! It's sad, but I have been fooled so many times. 10,000.00 later I've learned to get a third opinion. Greed has infiltrated the dental field.
That’s for sure. I’ve known more people hoodwinked into radical diagnoses like tooth loss and implants, and the third opinion said it was a simple cavity! Nobody can read X-rays so we are at their mercy
Yes, I worked in the dental field for 30 years and I have to agree that greed has infiltrated the dental field and L-lysine works great for canker sores because we prescribed that in the dental office where I worked
Totally agree!! Wish I had gotten 3rd & 4th opinions but where I moved, I went to the dentist on the most billboards lol. 10K for me & about to lose teeth I have left. Found out a medical issue for tooth & bone loss later. Hindsight as they say.
Am I the only one fully distracted by the obnoxiously loud rooster? 🤣🤣 Bless it! He must have been on the window sill…begging for Ron’s uneaten fish balls!! 😂😂😂😂
Flounder or cod might be better options for someone who isn't fond of a fishy taste. I admire this man for at least trying them out of respect for the effort made to prepare them. I'm glad everyone is feeling healthy again.
Any genuinely fresh fish should not smell or taste "fishy". If there is an odor or taste if "fish" - do NOT eat. And definitely agree that Flounder & Cod are both very mild fish.
I have taken L-Lysine (it's pronounced el-lie zeen)for over 20 years. They are the ONLY thing that has stopped my canker sores! Bless you sweetheart, I'm glad you're on the mend🧡
@@84cubangirly I use the NOW brand, I believe Justine has the same brand in the video. It's the one I like best. I take one tablet twice a day on an empty stomach. I take one in the morning about a half an hour to an hour before breakfast and the second one about an hour or two after lunch. I have found the longer and more consistently I use it, the better it works. I haven't had a canker sore in well over a decade. I hope it works for you as well.
I've had that mouth swisher too. When I had my stroke, the hospital staff gave me too many steroids and I developed THRUSH in my mouth and throat. I too couldn't eat anything unless it was extremely thin. This went on for 5 months!!! Had to have a tube put down my throat and stretch my throat enough so I could swallow. I completely understand your pain...literally.
Glad to have you both back! Justine hope all went well with dental surgery - imagine that surgery in the 1820s!! Look at Ron’s face - priceless! 😂😂 ~ Doreen B
So happy to see you! Poor thing! It sounded just awful when I read your description on Facebook. I was so worried.😮. I'll bet you'll be able to fit in your dress but wowsers what a way to get there😂
Justine, so good to see you. We have been so worried about you. Did you get that tooth taken out? Ron, that expression tells all about the fish. Blessings to you both. 🙏 ❤❤
Justine, in Norway we never get put to sleep when removing wisdom teeth. I had all mine removed with just local anesthesia and it was painfree and problemfree. Could you ask a dentist to remove the tooth without being put to sleep maybe?
Justine, please don't fight going for help so much because had you gotten your flu diagnosed soon enough they could have prescribed you something like Tamiflu and bless your sweet heart you might not have had to suffer so greatly. Ron, you may not have gotten the flu, but the worry must have been great because you look very tired and a bit worn down, please take care so that you don't get sick too. My prayers are for you both to get back to the sunny happy and healthy couple you have always seemed to be very soon.
Except that Tamiflu has serious side effects and takes at most one day off the flu duration. Elderberry on the other hand can bring the flu down to 24-48 hours with zero sode effects when prepared properly and taken without additives.
Another way they exported fashion was by fashion babies; they were like a doll wearing scaled down versions of women's clothing. Newspapers would put ads in their pages announcing the arrival of a fashion baby to a particular lady's home, and women would go to the lady's house to examine the fashion baby so they could go home and make a full-sized version of the clothes. However, until paper clothing patterns came out, it was hit or miss whether a woman could successfully duplicate the dress to her size.
Something like that hit me about 25 years ago after a dental cleaning. My sister came to take care of me and I was given antibiotics and Mary's Magic Potion. A couple days later, my sister talked to her daughter-in-law. She had the same thing and had been to the same dentist a few days after me. The dentist was obviously not cleaning the tools properly! Be very careful about dental infections. The infection can go straight into one's bloodstream and into the inside of one's heart valves and become endocarditis. My sweet mama had it once. The stress on your immune system awakened that herpes virus. It's similar to how one breaks out in shingles. That virus, also a type of herpes, is in our system if we have had chickenpox. So glad you are feeling better, Justine. You look great. Take care.
Justine has been in a lot of my prayers and love I'm so glad that God heard our prayers and your feeling better will continue prayers for your recovery
OOOHHHHH….I AGREE with Ron…..Fishy is awful…..I “like” fish only when it DOESN’T taste fishy……Can you imagine w/on refrigeration the odor…….eeeeewwwhhhhhhh! We can choose now what we eat--the people had to have what was in season and on hand….we are so lucky🍀
Justine, so glad to see your are better! Any tooth issues are the worst. Loved the expression on Ron’s face when he first bit into the fried fish ball…priceless😂
My Mom had a recipe for Cod fish cakes. She used salted cod but soaked it and drained the water several times to get some of the saltiness out of it. Then mixed with mashed potatoes and onion, salt/pepper and fried. They were delicious. It still remember them💕
As a Puerto Rican, we use salted cod to make fritters and eat em fresh from the frier. We also use the same cod to make a cod salad with olive oil, potatoes, vinegar, onions, and hard boiled eggs over rice. I'd try this receipt with salted cod per having salted fish and potatoes before. :)
At first, I thought Justine said she got "Kroger" fish (supermarket) fish LOL but i see it is "Croaker" fish LOL .. One way to make fish less fishy in smell and taste is to soak the fish in milk for a few minutes. I learned that technique from watching Japanese chefs on tv. Maybe Ron would try a fish recipe that had fish that was previously soaked in milk before cooking though it would not be early 1800s cooking.. Is that Rooster the same mean Rooster that attacked Justine in the hen house? OH my gosh Justine what an ordeal with that crazy dentist!
I am so excited for watching your dry kitchen come together! here in Maine, my former inlaws have a house with a dry kitchen and it was super close to the barn - in the breezeway between the two, there was a little hatch that all the kitchen scraps went down into as it dropped to a small area below the barn that was enclosed with the adjacent meadow where the animals free-ranged and thats where the chickens and pigs would scratch to get all the best of out leftovers, so coool!
Praise be that you are felling better. I understand about the house (we’re almost done the one we are having built) and the wedding (our daughter is getting married in April). It’s a busy time. Prayers for your safety, health and peace of mind.
My mother was a nurse and she always had us dab baking soda on our canker sores and they would be gone the next day if not before. You would think it would taste bad, but it has very little taste to it.
My mom and dad grew up during the depression, and it wasn’t unusual to eat last night’s meat for breakfast. I have eaten fish for breakfast and I love it. My dad had a recipe for breakfast beef roast that makes it own white gravy that we would put on biscuits with our roast. It was real good
Bless you! I’ve had “foot IN mouth” disease before, but that’s a whole ‘nother kettle o’fish. Usually, the only consequence of that is embarrassment on my part. I’m thrilled to see you feeling better and doing videos. Yeah, I was concerned last week but figured it was either stress from the house or wedding that caused y’all to take time away. Take care of yourselves! We love y’all.
Many 19th century fashion plates were printed with arsenical inks. Green wasn't the only colour that contained arsenic. Many colours contained it, including purple, red, and yellow.
Oh Justine I’m so sorry you have went through this. I completely understand what you went through. This happened to me some years back. I did not have the flu but I did have 4 bad wisdom teeth. I couldn’t afford to get them out for a while. Those sore are so painful. Mine were even in the back of my mouth so it even hurt to swallow. The pharmacy has to make a special mouth wash for me too. When you pulled out that mouth wash I thought “Oh my goodness I did that too!” I have since gotten those wisdom teeth out and no problems since with those sores! I pray you continue to get better and get that tooth out soon!
I didn't know you were sick, Justine! What you went through was terrible! So I'm thanking God you are on the mend. Keep taking all the medicines that will keep your immune system healthy - and by all means, get plenty of sleep and "down time". I know you and Ron are on a deadline, so I'll keep you both in my prayers. My grandma had framed, colored fashion plates from the 1840's in her front hallway. I just loved the gowns and men's wear from that time.
My husband used to suffer horribly from canker sores. He started taking L lysine tablets and hardly ever gets them now. Also he takes probiotics which he thinks helps keep them away. Glad you are feeling better. I was worried about you! We sure missed you last week! 😊❤
We had fried fish on the table at the family fishing camp every sumer. ( usually perch or catfish) And grandma had 4 ways of fixing them fish and chips were on the table all the time for breakfast or dinner unless we had not caught anything.
I think as a Boston originated reciept likely cod was used. I used to see a brand of salted cod here in the grocery store in Maine that was in a wooden box. I’m glad you’re feeling better Justine y’all take care
My husband has chronic cancer sores. I treat them with ground sage. I dip a q-tip in the ground sage powder then lightly dab the cancer sores. They stop hurting within 24 hrs and are almost healed in 72 hrs.
I still get them at 55! I always got them under my nose down to my top lip. They started the first year in college. They’d break out so bad, I looked like I had a Hitler mustache made of scabs. They’re awful.
@@littlehummingbird1015 I picked up dissolvable pills from the Amish store(they have baking soda in them plus herbs) they’re the only thing I’ve taken that works. I take them soon I feel one breaking out. Baking soda does amazing things. I clean with it too.
@@kathkwilts I agree, it’s in the multivitamin I take which supports my immune system. I have an thyroid autoimmune disease, that supplement & others have really helped me stay well.
I had it when I was a child, my mom did a home remedy that worked,it was raw honey mixed with a little bit of baking soda ,she wrapped around a piece of gauze in her finger and literally scratched every sore inside my mouth with the remedy, I cried every time but it worked wonders! I do it when my child gets a cold sore and it heals fast!
Salmon Pie! I grew up with it. A French dish. Mashed potatoes, red sockeye salmon from the can (available to us growing up). Mash them up together between two pie crusts with milk/cream and lots of butter and bake. Yum! No anchovies please!
I have to agree with you Ron, I don't like seafood either, although I wish I did. Justine, I am so glad you are well again and I am so glad that your fans support you in giving wonderful advice!
Justine, so glad you are feeling better. My son, many years ago, caught hand, foot and mouth from daycare (it’s highly contagious). Unfortunately, my husband also caught hand foot and mouth from my son. They both had multiple mouth sores. My husband also had sores in the back of his throat. A mouthwash was prescribed. Equal parts of Maalox or Mylanta and Benadryl Elixir and then use as a mouthwash. I’m glad you found something that works for you. Take care and be well. An infected tooth is no joke.
I am glad you are feeling better. My husband, sons, and I all had all 4 wisdom teeth cut out in 1 visit. Not on the same day, of course but, When we each had it done, we wanted it over with at once.
Hi Ron & Justine. So relieved you are on "the mend" Justine.🙏 . I noticed your ceramic lantern in the background (on your food prep table). Where can we get one?? Just enjoying both of your channels weekly. It's our fix in this family. Looking forward to hearing Where you got that lantern. 😊
Oh my gosh Justine, I feel your pain. I get canker sores, but never as many as you. I usually get them from acidic foods or being sick. I hope you feel better soon.
Oh gosh I’m so glad you’re okay!! My mom got sick this time last year with a bunch of sores and was also diagnosed with hand foot mouth. It’s been a looong year, she just had surgery to repair her soft palate (she actually had diphtheria in her throat and nobody diagnosed it properly for 10 months). It’s frustrating when medical professionals tell you different things. So glad you’re on the mend ❤️ love the house updates!
You guys should do a video on what got you into this! I for one would love to learn was it family or your love of history or whatever it was!!! I know a lot of us wonder what you do on your days off camera! How often do you actually live in the cabin and so on!!!
Justine, so sorry you had to go through all of that. As a retired nurse I have to tell you I am not a big fan of video health visits as there is so much more that can be seen in person which leads to a more accurate diagnosis. Please don’t wait so long when you feel that bad!!!
that's what I was thinking -Canker sores - yes Lysine (LYE-SEEN) works great - also even though it is painful I use the original Listerine (the gold stuff) hold a mouthful in for as long as you can once or twice a day - they go away in a couple days - so glad you are feeling better Justine!!
The word ketchup goes back to around 1690, but it wasn't made of tomatoes until the mid-to-late 19th century, because people thought tomatoes were poisonous. Interestingly, the word ketchup is from the Malay kechap, meaning fish sauce.
The flu is far nastier then many think. My friend had the flu and she ended up paralysed from the waist down. What a palaver you have been though. So glad that you are getting better.
Oh my, Justine, that sounds awful!! My family and I all had Covid, Strep and Flu right after the other. We know how it feels. Glad you are on the mend! Much love from Texas!
Oh man sounds like you went through hell and back!!! Take it easy and take good care. So glad you’re better!!! Sickness makes us grateful for good health ❤️
What an experience, Justine! One canker sore in the mouth can be painful, but several?! I agree, that is no way to lose weight. I'm so glad you are doing better and will pray for your continued good health. And what a trooper you are, Ron, trying the fish balls. And the support you give Justine is so amazing to see. God love you both and good wishes for your home to be ready for you. Sue 😊❤
So sorry Justine for all that you went through. Two horrible diagnosis and the physical pain. Glad you are doing so much better. I know you guys have a lot on your plate so hang in there. All your sacrifices and hard work WILL pay off. Your reward is soon …a beautiful wedding, a beautiful house, and a beautiful life. Stay strong Justine and Ron!!❤️❤️
Just had my last two wisdom teeth pulled. One was causing the classic pain from sweet things. The other one had a cavity, and it was time to pull before the pain started. I have found though that a regular doctor is better for infections and pain. Dentist always seem reluctant to prescribe anything. However, my regular dentist pulled my last three teeth, and it has been little pain and a quick recovery! I wish you luck and a speedy recovery!
Ive had that mouthwash before! They also call it Lizard Spit. I had strep so badly for 2 years before they decided to take out my tonsils and I had the same problem....canker sores from a severely compromised immune system. Lysine is a life saver! Anytime I start with a sore I take it. If you get the powdered version and mix it in water it actually soothes the sore as you drink it.
Glad to learn about the supplement in case I get one of those painful lesions. Used to get them often when I didn't eat well and was under a lot of stress (years ago).
So sorry you had to go through all that at the dentist. I was an dental asst. for 25 years. But also from my watching Snake Discovery on YT, the lizard has ears, snakes do not. True fact. Glad to see you getting better.😢😊
Oh Justine! How awful! I’m so glad you’re feeling better & you finally got the medication & supplements you needed to feel better. Hope they can pull that tooth ASAP!
Oh my goodness I’m so sorry Justine! I’m so glad you got to the root of the problem and are medicated now and back in the game and avoided the ER! I hope you’re feeling all better soon!!
Thank you Justine for sharing your horror story 😮. This may help others who are getting conflicting diagnosis. My son had hand, foot & mouth disease as a young boy. Freaked me out! So glad you're on the mend lil Lady 🥰 Lord bless & keep you 🙏
So glad to hear you’re feeling better, Justine! I totally understand leaning on natural remedies before going to the hospital. That’s what we do too. And with the fish for breakfast, since I grew up with a mother who was born and raised in the Philippines, I totally had fish for breakfast 😆
Oh, I felt for you Justine. I once had the same, a mouth full of canker sore’s. I even had some on my tonsils . And the only thing that helped was the L-lysine as well. So any time if a feel one starting I take it as soon as possible and then the sores heal within a week or are at least less painful.
Poor Ron...you are such a martyr!! Justine you are such a champion...sharing recipes that may not be popular now, but was important back in the day...a slice of history...thanks to you both!! 😊❤😊
Yay!! Justine is back!!! So glad to see and hear you and very glad to hear that you are on the mend! I’m happy you saw several different people to get an answer and proper treatment. I would definitely not go back to that dentist.
So sorry to hear that you had that experience. I would find a different dentist. I'm glad you are on the mend. As you were telling that, I thought you were going to say that you had shingles.
Definitely would go find a new dentist, Justine! I thought Ron’s weird history facts this week was fascinating! I had no idea that a lizard existed that broke into pieces and had no legs! Your home is really coming together…I love the 2 chimneys! Looking forward to seeing the siding go up 😊 Have a blessed and better week and take care, Justine! 👋❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸
Here in CA we are getting unusual amounts of rain. I have to say, fish balls for breakfast, let alone dried salted fish balls....sounds blech, and I like seafood a lot. I'm with Ron on this one.
I grew up in rural Virginia in a town called Mechanicsville & it was very common for us to have fish or fish roe & eggs for breakfast. I tried ordering it as a young adult (18 or 19) at a restaurant & they didn't have it & had never heard of it...I tried at several restaurants before I gave up...I'm 65 now & have yet to eat fish & eggs for breakfast at a restaurant...also never seen fish roe & eggs on a restaurant menu...not saying there isn't one out there somewhere that serves such delicious fare just that I have yet to find it
