Did you know? There are many types of gear for parade rings and racing horses. What we see here (I guess so, please correct me if I’m wrong 😄) is a hood that covers the horse’s ears. These hoods are padded to reduce the noise of the crowd, helping to calm a nervous horse. Interesting, isn’t it?
I have a lot to take away from this painting. I tried to achieve this particular color in one of my earlier horse paintings, but it turned out brown. I’ll call it a little success here! Painting the little details on the face, like the veins and skin folds, was fun and brought me a lot of happiness. I could have focused a bit more on the metal ring, but overall it was another satisfying experience.
