I have been suffering from a burnout after my team member left, having to handle everything by myself. I had my one chance last week to correct it by demanding the right remuneration but I messed it up by asking too little. It has been killing me ever since. 😔 I don't know if my energy to work will ever come back. I am so disappointed with myself.

Oh yes! I actually got let go at my last job because I was trying really hard not to look exhausted, but the boss could still see it. I wasn't as bubbly as I was for the first few months (mind you, they didn't pile quite as much work on us the first few months, because that sort of thing seems to happen gradually over time (so that you don't notice)). And I have become fully aware now that any form of retail or restaurant job is going to be like that (and I suck at interviews for office jobs as an autistic person, because they usually have it set up where it takes about 20 minutes, and multiple people are sitting around the table observing me). And for some reason office interviews seem to ask scenario questions of which are too vague, and only explained in one or two sentences, to where I think I understand what they are asking at first, but always seem to get it wrong. Some of them even seem like trick questions with a hidden meaning (such as, "What is your greatest weakness", where you have to be very careful what you choose, and perhaps even make one up that sounds like a strength. But if that's the case, then where's the honesty, and why bother answering the questions if there's only one or two right answers? Are they actually getting to know me if I don't tell them who I really am?). But yeah, the majority of jobs just keep adding more tasks onto your list, where you wonder how it would be possible to get everything done on time; and if you finally DO figure out a way, they will add another task onto your list. Your daily schedule becomes so full that you have no room for anything to go wrong (taking 10 minutes to resolve a mistake or issue puts you 10 minutes overtime). I just hope and pray that I will never have to work in a regular workplace environment ever again (unless some great labor movement happens, where you are only required to work one job position (the one that you applied for), instead of also taking on a janitor role, and a front desk role, when you're supposed to be preparing and filling food at the buffet, while trying to keep the tables clean and everything stocked (by yourself). One can only hope!

@@ArtsyMegz_On_Etsy only thing you can do is changing jobs till you find one where you are comfortable. Apart from the own work to be comfortable for you, with "comfortable" I mean more in the respect way. I'm ADHD and I ain't staying not one minute more in a job where I get disrespected, exploited or any other kind of abuse. My RSD + several childhood traumas has to do a lot with this 🤣. I just prefer to go unemployed for some time. The least I expect to get from the rest is basic respect/human rights LOL (ofc I can understand bosses/kinda bosses have bad days and pression too, sometimes the line between demands and disrespect is too thin, but def there are no fucking excuses for bad manners). Wish you good luck and don't be afraid to swap jobs. If only we all did the same that I said previously, some things would be different. 🫡

For me it’s a struggle to even read a text message. I’ll avoid opening it, then avoid replying because I don’t feel I’m at my best to offer something as simple as a two word response. It’s absurd, but so difficult to challenge.
@Marina_7
@Marina_7 Год назад
It's not absurd! I understand. It really can be hard when you feel like you don't even have enough to give yourself, especially if you also fear you may be judged or anything like that on top. It's ok. If it's a friend, you can tell them that it's not that you're mad at them or anything, but you're feeling quite low and maybe depleted and may not always answer, or do so promptly. In any case, please forgive yourself and remember that your struggle is valid and it can and will get better. One step at a time.

For me theses are only signs for severe stress but not for burnout yet. I had a burnout done years ago. When you have reached that level you are unable to do anything because you are totally exhausted. Not even eating. Your whole system needs to recover because there is zero energy. It’s a total break down. It took me 5 months ti be able to go back to work - 3 hours per day first and we slowly increased the working time week by week. I don’t think there’s an individualist solution that isn’t a band-aid, its something everyone has to work together on. We are all dissatisfied with out work and society, so let’s change it to one we are happy about, one where we have free time, enough to rest and play and do fun things and recharge. One where we don’t dread our co-workers or other people because they could replace use if we slip up.

The two things that have helped me with this same sort of situation are to do *something*, no matter how small it is, and to seek a relationship with Jesus. Just moving forward in some way, even if it seems like it doesn't matter, can get you out of a funk. Living for a purpose greater than yourself and that isn't determined by your circumstances is freeing, as well. But, more importantly, Jesus loves you and has a plan for you to be successful, just maybe not in the way you envision for yourself. He wants a relationship with you and to give you hope in Him and eternal life with the Father.

Been there, after being a single parent for the entirety of raising my 2 kids, no support system, unbelievably high stress heavy workload jobs for years with almost no time off, damn near 18 hours a day. I started having heart palpitations and was ina constant flight or fight state. I was always exhausted, I would be sleeping and just sit straight up in a panic for no reason, several times a night. 2021 I stated having terrible health issues, brain fog, heart palpitations, my hair was falling out, my teeth were breaking. Dentist said I had stress fractures from grinding my teeth, constant headache. Finally out of desperation I saw my GP. She listened to me, did some blood tests and told me I was still physical healthy but soon that would not be true, she diagnosed burnout. She said I had to find a way back and it would be hard but there was no other choice. I quit my job, took 8 months off and did nothing but walk my dog, sleep, and binge watch Netflix. I slowly came back to myself. I found a very low stress job that paid the bills. To this day, I cannot handle high stress. I look back on my previous life and don’t understand why I put myself through it or how i survived. Perspective and boundaries are everything.

One positive thing about getting let go , if you can be optimistic, is to look at it like you’re been done a favor by being released from the problem of being overworked and possibly underpaid. Now you have the freedom to spread your wings and search for a new career that better suits your needs. Hopefully the money situation is okay. @nonyabiz9340
@nonyabiz9340 5 месяцев назад
@@fresh_kerfer absolutely, a good side hustle will GIVE the person energy, fulfillment, and hope for the future. Like how you may play video games for eight hours and just want another eight hours to keep playing. You can get the same energy and sense of accomplishment from learning a skill like wood working or carpentry, electronic repair, art in general, moulding and creating epoxy countertops etc etc etc. I flip houses on the side and if I can get to a project house two - 8 hour days a week I get to learn new skills and go to sleep much happier than when I just grind away all week. People experience burn out not because they're working long hours, but because they have lost any sense of accomplishment from their work. Video games provide a world to learn and conquer. Find worlds to conquer in the real world and you'll fill that hole in your soul. We're meant to accomplish great things, not toil day in and out doing the same dozen or so things.

Then be kind to yourself Give yourself moments to enjoy nothingness, enjoy doing time doing things for fun to stimulate happy endorphins I think it's not just me and you that feel sad I think everyone is because we are being forced and separated away from our natural human instincts but take each minute of the day as it comes and remember you are needed

Oh I get it! I am a nurse, and when I died in 2020, I got literally no healthcare and was kicked to the curb because I refused their murder attempt (vent) and suddenly had no access to the basic care I spent 24 years giving. I am "burnt out" from chronic abuse from childhood that 'followed me' into school, which felt normal, then work and then healthcare I had to fight for tests to prove I was having a stroke and I was still denied care. The all the appointment to hear "yeah, you have this and that and this and that" nothing we can do (after they caused it). The same family bullies who abused me as a child were laughing as this all happened as an adult. I discovered through trauma therapy I was never able to call trauma due to being used to getting shamed and blamed and I apologized to my abusers for 'making them want to abuse me'..this led me to be the best damn nurse there is, but hated by management, dated and befriended emotionally absent people, and then further self-defeating behaviors, scared to end relationships that gave me consistent breadcrumbs I learned to "appreciate" as my standards were low, but I was told I had high expectations. To not want more than breadcrumbs when I give 110% to people who give 1% and complain I don't give then 130% when I react to the pain they caused but it's my expectations? It's a LOT. And a lot of THIS, causes health issues. I so get a version of your story with out knowing the details. I more than get it. As a patient AND a nurse, now out of work - but I had to literally crash, burn and die to start really digging into the necessary and I would have if I only knew I had to and thought I was doing okay, but knew I wasn't..just didn't make the time to be still enough to work hard core on it between two nursing jobs, teaching Zumba, and doing work for the church, etc. I kept myself unintentionally busy serving others, which was both healing...AND a drug. Had no idea. The Lord healed many people through my wound-based helping of others. However, I had to die to learn how to do life in a healthier way where I respected myself as worthy of love from God over who I am,, not what I did and for whom. What a life lesson. Often times I regretted surviving what I medically should not have as I left with lethal scenarios in 2020, but here I am and if I made it this far, I know God took me through the high tides, to work on....me. I 'get it.' Let us say a prayer for each other and do the right things to heal and deal. Soaking in pity on anti-social media is NOT the way.

Vacations are literally so important. I was going through this every day of the year at old jobs where I never got any vacations. Now, Im able to take a week off twice a year or so and I dont hate being alive as much. We are not meant to work 5 days a week every week our whole lives! 2 free days a week with adult responsibilities or mental health issues is not enough time outside of work for a person to be happy and fulfilled!

I don't understand how you guys work with no vocations in America. Here in Poland we have 20-24 paid vocation days a year. 4 weeks a year basically. And it's 28 in Russia.

@@user-kd7kk3zb5w in Russia it's 28 + you have about 20 extra days-off cause we have long holidays in January and May which are also paid by the government ... I can't imagine that people work with only 5-10 days-off per year

I’m someone who can’t take off a week or more because I then don’t want to go back at all. I’d be good with Wednesdays off in addition to weekends. Or just random days when I just can’t stay awake or need a mental break. I’ve also always had jobs that are emotionally draining.

Single mom. Burdened by managing the house & looking after my son by myself. Corporate job, over worked & very stressful. Boy friend recently died in an accident & I was given no bereavement @ work. I’ve been hustling& grinding for years. Dealing with chronic anxiety & now depression. I’m beyond burned out. I ended up getting fired unjustly & im just relieved. I cashed out my retirement savings & am living off it. It is saving my life. I can’t work bc I’m not functioning. I’m doing everything I can to get out of this funk. Diet, exercise, rest, nature. It’s working, slowly. It’s like trying to pull myself out of a pit of mud. It’s slow and difficult. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever feel like my old self again. I tell myself I will.

What they don't tell you is how long it will take your brain to recover from it. I'm 2 yrs out from a particularly bad case of burnout that I was compelled by my life circumstances to ignore, and honestly I don't know if I will ever fully be my old self again when it comes to productivity.
