That's so nice to read! :) I like her a lot too! I listen to the tips but I struggle with implementing when actually I feel depressed. It doesn't come to mind then. Are you able to implement? I also want to help people. I know I can't become a psychologist but need to figure out other ways in this field.

@@rt-qe9xw Have you heard of Mel Robbins? She is also incredible. I suffer we from anxiety and depression and her - along with Dr. Julie - have changed me life. She has 2 amazing books - start with The 5 Second Rule. It sounds silly at first but it has literally saved/changed thousands of lives. She also has incredible videos here on RU-vid worth watching. She gives you ways to implement and focus on how to change and help yourself. Both of these ladies are absolutely amazing and life changing women! Please check her out. ;)

It reminds me of the bees and flys model in my coaching aprenticeship. I learned, that people tend to see the worst in a situation like a fly seeks shit in a flower field. And we need to try and focus on the positivity in life like the bee that finds that one little flower in a dirty slum🥰🐝

In my worst moments, I can’t think about “what’s the best that can happen” because it only freaks me out me. I always tell myself, “even if the worst thing DOES happen, I can handle it.” It’s a much more comforting thought. It takes some of the fear away.

This really helps a lot, just knowing there’s a way to help negative thoughts. Because my parents have ALWAYS called me a negative Nelly and contrary to their thoughts, that’s not actually helping the problem

My mom got diagnosed with breast cancer recently and we suspect it’s stage 2 or 3 but we don’t know that yet. We just think that from the symptoms my mom has. All I can do is think about the worst scenarios possible and I’ve tried to avoid them. This video really helped, thank you 🙏

Thank you for this, since I always find myself doing this, and honestly I don’t like it. I’ve tried to just keep it out of my mind before but it didn’t work. So watching this and finding a better way to deal with this made me feel somewhat better. Although it is hard for me to focus on the present and change my perspective of things, I think overtime I’ll learn how to do that better. Your videos are always such a big help so thank you. ❤️

I never knew what I did was an actual thing, catastrophizing. I thought I was being safer thinking this way and doing my best to avoid worst case scenarios from happening. Thank you Dr Julie.

Thank you so much for your public service. You are teaching people what should be common knowledge, but we rarely have a chance to acquire it before something goes wrong. We should have mental health first aid course, just like we have for body health, to use in emergency.

To everyone here who is going through anxiety disorder, and depressiveness, you are strong. I see you. I hear you. I feel you. And I know, you always think that this is something you would never wish upon anyone, for it seems to be too heavy to even bear. But you are strong. You are not your anxiety. You, are not anxiety. You, are you. These feelings, might be uncomfortable. But it is not dangerous. Imagine it to be like a wave. The tide is gonna come in, but the tide is gonna come out. This too, shall pass.

My therapist said years ago that I am a catastrophizer. I've had to realize that somewhere between the WORST that could happen and the BEST that could happen lies what probably WILL happen. It's rarely as bad or as good as I think it could be. That's a big help in staying grounded in reality.

Thank you for your nice tip, I'm struggling with anxiety nearly my whole life, but finding a therapist is quite the struggle. This little videos help at least to keep my head above the water. Altough I'm still struggling to think about the best possible outcome to happen since the thought to even think about it (best outcome) makes me cry.😅

👌🏻 bringing it full circle to alternative perspectives and what’s the best that could happen is so crucial 👌🏻 that’s what opens you up and breaks you free from limited thinking that keeps you shrunk and stuck. Wasn't looking for Dr Julie on RU-vid, one of her videos appeared out the blue like a message from an angel. I'm back on Sertraline after fighting anxiety for years ( brought back on by a toxic environmentat work ), she explains why, what to do do and how too do it, but mainly its her reassuring tone and voice. I did this once, I was starting to get anxious because I was socializing to peolle I've never seen before, everything was going fine but the anxious thoughts started coming through. I said to my brain "hey, that's nice you spotted that scenario, but nothing's happening yet, so let's put that inside a drawer, and we can get it back if it comes true". It worked just so well, I was able to enjoy the moments till the end.

What about anxious thoughts about the present moment? Like, "my dogs are barking a lot downstairs, there's probably someone breaking into the house and trying to hurt them"

My comfort is thinking about what would actually happen, and if worst case scenario still seems realistic, I remember that it's ok to not be ok. Even if the worst happens, that's okay, it will pass.

My friends say I have "a cloud" over me at all times since so many unusually bad things happen and always to me specifically. I can't even remember a time of normal thoughts, I only prepare for the worst and then hope for the best. Not even joking.

As a final year Psychology student, I totally agree with her. Especially amazed with the point that she raised about labeling our anxious thoughts. It has been the most difficult part and hindered my personal growth in many ways. Over time, I have learnt the art. Dr. J is amazing. Hands-down!

I try to do this as much as possible I often find myself overthrowing and thinking in worst case scenarios but I shift my focus and try thinking about best case scenarios instead
