On your lab tests, ferritin is a way to measure your iron stores.
For most patients, we try to optimize ferritin with the goal of greater than 50 ng/mL.
Some people even need the ferritin greater than 100 ng/mL to really feel their best.
The challenge with most standard iron supplements is they can cause constipation and abdominal discomfort.
Our Iron is low dose and generally well tolerated without causing constipation. Vitamin C is a cofactor that improves iron absorption, so I recommend taking Iron and Vitamin C together after a meal.
