For real. This revisionist history is going to make the boogeyman come back out of retirement and catch another ring. Bet he could pop up on the raiders and takes them to the AFC championship year 1
Exactly, half of his 20 year career he was in the superbowl, like cmon man. If mahomes doesn’t play near 20 years, he would have to get his rings in a shorter amount of time to be the GOAT or in the conversation
Brady had to earn his right to pass Montana. People didn’t give him his respect until Ring 4 or 5. Now mahomes gets crowned with 2 because Brady completely lapped the field 😂😂😂
Brady had to earn his right because he was a 6th round pick with not much talent that started out as a game manager, completely different than mahomes who was a top 10 pick and is the most arm talented qb in the history of football… completely different scenarios
Brady is ONLY looked at as the GOAT BECAUSE of winning super bowls. Anyone who watched would tell you talent wise/individually that Peyton Manning was better and Aaron Rodgers was also better. You Boston fans are biased understandably so but also try to use revisionist history. I do agree Mahomes hasn't passed Brady yet it's too soon. Simple as that. But talent doesn't make Brady the GOAT.
@@JP-jd8wr Brady could make any throw they could make from the pocket. Just because he couldn’t run around when the play breaks down doesn’t mean he wasn’t as talented lol how does all that talent help rodgers or manning in playoff games?
Brah has been to 3 Superbowls, winning 2. Also he's been to 6 STRAIGHT AFC championship games since being in the league... Also he's passing unconventionally.
@@Keepitpush99rings don’t matter in a game where you literally have 3 different facets of the game with different personnel, QBs dont play defense or Special Teams, Football has to be the most team dependant sport out there
I can’t stand the media making football a 1v1 game. Including all facets of special teams, THERE ARE 88 positions. QBs don’t kick, punt, block, tackle…etc. SMH
Then you’ll concede that Brady had a top 10 defense every year he played. Mahomes has his first top 10 defense this year. Which makes what mahomes is doing even greater.
You gotta admit in football that ring argument can’t be the end all be all in such a team dependent game. I understand maybe not now but if mahomes wins three in 7 years this is gonna be one of the greatest stretches in nfl history, if he wins 4 or even five, he can’t be discredited
@@johnathanwiggins_3.22 before Peyton manning retired, it was definitely debatable on who was better. Regardless, my point is that they are given Mahomes the title too early
Apparently in the "Mahomes Era", Mahomes has won the SB twice. At at same time old man Brady won the SB twice as well. You can't pass someone who beat you twice in his 40s until you get more rings than him.
This “he beat him” argument for football is so dumb. They don’t actually ever compete directly against each other. It’s not basketball. Look at the afc champ game with Pats vs Chiefs. Dee Ford lost that game. Was sealed and done.
Seriously. Because if Brady had lost twice to Mahomes, the tally would be 5:4 Brady and every media outlet would say Mahomes is GOAT. So h2h wins matter
Imo that’s what cemented him as the Goat. That’s far too clutch even greater than anything Montana ever did. And def anything Mahomes does done. Thats why I think it’s going to be difficult for Mahomes to get there.
the difference is mahomes wouldnt get shut down to. the point he is 28-3 down. i think the first ring had multiple combacks but none that far down. give me the guy who wins without needing to dig out of that hole @@matthewsdonnelly
@Mr_G_VGC Do you not remember when he got blown out by the bucs? Talking about how he wouldn't be down that much lol. He literally got blown out bruh.
Mahomes is having the greatest start to a career any QB can ask for but he hasn’t passed Montana yet much less Brady. Brady has 15 combined MVPs, SBs and SB MVPs. Mahomes is at 6 and Montana is at 9.

@zombie_turtle666 Sorry if that makes you mad kid... it is what it is. Just like the Seahawks inexplicably trying a pass on the goal line and the Falcons failure to protect a 28-3 halftime lead. Like I said... Brady gets credit as the LUCKIEST QB in history. History shows he was literally 4 plays from having 3 total Superbowl wins.😅
@zombie_turtle666 I mean I get why Brady/Pats fans are so sensitive. Their team went from Dynasty to laughing stock in 3 years after Brady left. And those same fans probably thought they could at least enjoy having Brady as the GOAT for two or three decades... Yet here's Mahomes... 6 years into his career... breaking Bradys records left and right. In fact... he just broke another one last Sunday. Fastest QB ever to 13 playoff wins... One argument I always hear to diminish Brady as the goat is that he was a "system QB" or a "game manager". Y'all pretending like he's Dilfer or Brad Johnson when he has the rings AND the stata. Dude has 7 rings and owns all meaningful QB records. He is the Jordan, Russell and Wilt of the NFL.
In 3 of the Super Bowls he was. In the 1st Super Bowl, Brady had 1 TD in the entire playoffs! In the 1st and 3rd Super Bowl, it was Belichick's defense and Super Bowl 53 where that defense ONLY gave up 3 points - an NFL record.
@@JamesJiansen My point is what I said. For 3 Super Bowls, Brady managed the game. I NEVER mentioned the other Super Bowls. Brady definitely started out as a game manager. Nothing wrong with that. He was 199th in the draft.
As a Lebron fan, I finally understand how MJ fans feel. Brady is the only GOAT QB. I hated watching him play, as a Steelers fan. But to call anyone else the GOAT is just disrespectful
SAS is 1000% correct on this. His best shot was to beat Brady in that playoff game and SB and he lost. Side note* Mahomes has never had the chance to play Rodgers. It was supposed to be this year but Rodgers got hurt
It is only a debate If we didn’t see them play against each other. Mahomes had the GOAT WR AND the GOAT TE and still Brady beat him every time they played each other in the playoffs.

I'd never choose Mahomes as the GOAT over TB. Defenses today have softened in addition to the lots of rule changes that favour offenses compared to what TB experienced. Also, TB has performed in more clutch moments than anyone in history, something we've yet to really see with Mahomes. Mahomes revolutionalised the QB playmaking. But to consider him as the GOAT at this stage, NAH. Not even close. But there's a huge potential to become it.
It’s way to early to tell (Wait about 5-7 yrs down the line for that talk.) If Mahomes & Chiefs win Super Bowl this year they will no doubt be officially a dynasty however with the talk about Mahomes as the greatest QB is way to early to tell right now in only saying this because let’s say mahomes win Super Bowl but next year catches a career ending injury ? What then ? He won’t be known as the greatest QB when the talk begins he will just be known as one of the greatest QBs in his playing time in the NFL and a great QB who had a short career.
Y'all remember once upon a time when Brady was in Mahomes' shoes at one point? That Brady is the GOAT over Montana? Do you all remember that? It took 17 years for Brady to overcome Montana in the conversation. My point is there will come a time when Brady will be surpassed and Mahomes is on that path to do so, now it is just up to him on how long can he play.
Talent wise they have point. We’re only 7 years into mahomes career. Remember the AFC championship (2018) Brady was clutch but mahomes didn’t get a chance and Kareem hunt ending up getting suspended. If that doesn’t happen he probably has 3.

@@theone7778 It isn't logical to use it as the only metric, but it is logical to be part of their overall measurements. QBs contribute to winning or losing more than any other position in football. Otherwise, guys with artificial stats like Dak Prescott will look better than they really are historically. Winning is the most important stat, and QBs contribute to that outcome more than any other player.
Ok talent wise obviously mahomes beats Brady in that topic. But for me mahomes has to win at least 8 super-bowls because you can’t put him over Brady when he lost to Brady in the Super Bowl and in the afc championship game. Mahomes has to win more than Brady for him to surpass him.

Brady leading by 22 playoff wins. Brady leading by 7 conference championship game appearances. Brady leading by 7 Super Bowl appearances. Brady leading by 5 Super Bowl championships. Brady leading by 1 Regular Season MVP. Brady leading by 3 Super Bowl MVP's. Brady leading by 10 Pro Bowl invitations. ...oh...and 40-something Tom Brady was 2-0 against 20-something Mahomes in the playoffs. Are we really having this discussion? Mahomes' career is off to an excellent start. He's 28 years old. But the thing is, he'll have to maintain his current level of greatness for AT LEAST a decade before he's even sniffing most of Tom's records. Brady is in his own statistical zipcode. Brady's was 43 (which he also did at age 44 lol). Brady's best passer rating season was 117.2, while Mahomes' best was 113.8. Brady's best QBR season was 87.0 while Mahomes' best was 80.3. Brady's most completions in a season was 490 (which he did at age 45 lol), Mahomes was 436. Seriously dude. Why do you talk or type? You're not smart enough to do research. You end up with pie all over that stupid know-nothing face of yours. If you're a little boy in 8th grade or something and not old enough to realize how Brady towers over Mahomes, I forgive you. But if you're a grown man with a fully developed brain and access to research, then you're just an embarrassing sad clown of a man. I'm sorry your imaginary boyfriend Patrick Mahomes wasn't born talented enough to ever surpass Brady.
When Brady beat Mahomes the AFC title game Mahomes was in his first season and wasn't even at his peak yet. The superbowl I'm Tampa Mahomes whole team was depleted with injuries and the refs were one sided breaking the record for penalties against a team. Mahomes at his best is definitely a better QB than Brady I've seen Bradys whole career and he simply can't do what Mahomes cam do. End of story
I love how SAS claims that he “saw Mahomes lose to Brady in the SB”….. but did you really…? Did you see how he had 3 backup OL ? How he was running for his life and STILL throwing dimes that his receivers (including Hill) drop? It’s so sad that this is the most prominent sports analyst in the world, yet he doesn’t actually watch the games.
I think we are lucky as NFL fans to be able to witness another legendarily great QB. I'm a Raiders fan so I hate the Chiefs but I respect/appreciate greatness. Brady made us a little numb to how hard it is to achieve such team success in the NFL. Teams aren't supposed to make the final 4 every year. They aren't supposed to win games when trailing by 10+ points on the regular. Aren't supposed to lose the best WR in the game and still win the SuperBowl. Comparing him to Brady is a natural reaction but it isn't fair to Mahomes because that bar includes playing at this level for 20 years. Calling him the GOAT right now makes you sound foolish. Even if he wins his 3rd this year he still needs to win at least a couple more, win a couple more MVP's, and play many more seasons. They are diminishing how truly special Brady's career was.
It's a silly hot take and it worked. Just to be mentioned in any QB comparison with TB is high praise. If the Ravens win on Sunday, it will be, "Is Lamar better than Mahomes".
I got a story for . Patrick was beating Brady. 3:27 on the clock. Patrick use 0:12 to scored. Too much time on the 3:15 remaining. Brady came back to Win . Next year the same situation Patrick winning but to much Brady comeback to win again. Patrick makes mistakes on a advantage WiN.
In the argument of brady v manning, we used to say manning was the regular season monster, and brady was the postseason monster. In mahomes, you have two in one. Both brady and manning needed defense to get their rings, pat mahomes broke that mold. On top of that, having the arm talent of an aaron rodgers? Yall lying if you're saying you ever seen something better. And this is coming from a big brady fan Also those postseason wins brady got over mahomes need some context. Mahomes played better than brady in that afccg, for one. Had it not been for an offsides, the chiefs win that game on a brady int. Mahomes was just as clutch and unstoppable. And for that superbowl, its hard to fault mahomes when he loses his top two olinemen to play the best d line in the game. We already seen brady lose two to eli fkn manning when his o line couldn't protect him. For me, those two games cant be used as the measuring stick
You didn’t see Tom Brady in Mahomes era. You saw Tom cherry pick a team that was primed to Win against a KC team with no offensive line. If Tom was still on the Tampa Bay team how many times would he be repeating that against Mahomes?
I don’t understand how people are so quick to put him over Brady when it took Brady 5 super bowls and a comeback for the ages in the Super Bowl for him to finally be above Joe Montana. How does Mahomes jump Joe and Tom with just 2???
Him losing to Tom twice definitely makes it tricky because he lost twice to Tom when it mattered most. And if Tom kept playing and was let's say 36 37 I think Tom would beat him again.
Tom Brady won a Super Bowl in his forties. You can't deny Brady's longevity and consistency. Let's see how Mahomes is doing 10 years from now. He got a lot of work to do to catch up to Tom Brady, it's way too soon to call him the GOAT, there is no debate. In terms of passing yards in the first 7 years, there are many more quarterbacks who are throwing for a lot of yards these days, the game was different in the early 2000's. And don't forget that historic 2007 season when Brady broke the record for most touchdowns thrown with 50 touchdowns, that was an amazing feat back then.
I agree with swag, how this season started and pulling it out in Buffalo. Logic says Ravens win this game but when you have players in any sport like Patrick.....you just can't say it is a done deal until the game ends.
Everyone seems to forget that you dont have to play as long as a player or have as many rings to be considered the GOAT. A comparison would be MJ, he's considered the goat but doesnt have as many rings as Bill Russell or played as long as kareem. So Mahomes already being considered up there with brady as GOAT status is not blasphemous. A worthy arguement to be had for sure
