I'm just going to say that there should be a law that gives us 3 days off a month in the same week for periods. I just had the worst 2 days that I have had since college. Missed 2 days of work because of it and I already had a back injury so it made it so much worse.

@@DrSimiAdedeji Yessss, I live in Spain and am SO happy with this. I have been diagnosed menorrhagia (for which I have medication but nevertheless have anemia every 2 times a year) and suffer terrible pains since 16 (I know what I say when I say terrible pains, I have given birth naturily 3 times 😅) which knock me out 2 days. So for me, this is such an advance in womans rights. Thank you for normalizing "weird" things and taking serious how bad a period can be for women, very much apreciated 🥰
@JNL76
@JNL76 Год назад
@@patriciatoney240 That depends on your doctor a bit, because my doctor told me that if you can really demonstrate that although you "only" suffer the intense pain that knocks you out, it is also possible to get the leave. The only thing is that you MUST have a document from your doctor that supports it, so het together with your doctor, explain your personal situation and ask about the options.

I’ve had butt cramps for years! Just randomly both on and off my period. :[ why does my butt do that….. I’m so glad I’m not the only one, I remember half trying to tell my doctor about it years ago and I think they just said drink more water? Which I didn’t do…… Maybe that’s why I occasionally get them..

I've also been getting butt cramps for years. Many times the butt cramps inform me my cycle is about to begin. I am so glad to finally know what's happening. I don't generally cramp in my abdominal region at all. I just get this weird cramp that feels a bit like constipation.

@JustLuckyDucky Год назад
Just wow. This was so informative. I'm a bit of a "medical unicorn," though, when it comes to my period... So, I just turned 42, and I don't have a period. In fact, I haven't had a period in 19 years. I started when I was 16 years old, and I had a FOUR YEAR period! I bled for four years straight. I graduated high school with my period, and I went on my senior trip to Mexico with my period. I never told my mom or anyone, and I hated doctors, and honestly, I thought it was normal. So, I learned to live with constant bleeding. No pain or cramps or any other period issues. Just bleeding. When I was 20 years old, it stopped for 11 days. I freaked out cause I didn't know what was happening. I ended up getting diagnosed with something that was impossible to get as I was a virgin and I was about to take a shot of meds to treat it when it I found out my test was accidentally switched with someone else and I had a yeast infection. I got meds/steroids to help jump start it and I simply spotted randomly for about 3 years but never had a regular monthly period again. I just wore pads/tampons constantly as I never knew when I would bleed. It's amazing what you get used to and I just learned to adjust. When I was 23 I was told I had PCOS and that was the reason for my weird period issues. And at 24 my period stopped completely and during a Dr visit I found out I had type 2 diabetes so they claimed that diabetes was a reason for my issues. I also had a doctor tell me I had entered early menopause. That was interesting and not true. So I haven't had a single day of bleeding in 19 years. Funny story, after all these issues I was told having kids would be next to impossible, but when I was 31, I found out I was almost 6 months pregnant! I had no signs or symptoms of pregnancy. No sickness, cravings or weight gain... nothing. I just randomly took a test with a bf I had only been seeing for a month and bam. I was 23 weeks along. The only sort of answer I got from my doc was that even though I didn't have a physical period, my body was still acting on a cycle of sorts. But to this day, I still never got any answers as to why I bled for 4 years straight or how I really got pregnant or why I never had a regular period ever. I now have a 10 year old daughter, and I feel like I don't know if I know how to tell her how to have a period or what to expect really. I just hope she doesn't have the issues I have. I will admit that not having a period for almost 20 years has been nice, but I think maybe it's caused more issues not being normal. I'm so sorry for the long post, but I've never really shared this story and wondered if anyone has had a similar story. As age up toward 50, I don't think I'll be having a period ever again due to menopause coming, but I've just had a strange life. To anyone who takes the time to read this, thanks for listening to my rant. Have an awesome day! 😌

There is a doctor out there somewhere who has a diagnosis for you. Often, women's issues are written off as exaggeration when Dr's are perplexed. Some doctors (unfortunately) only want to deal with clear-cut cases and *easy patients. It took 2 years for me to be diagnosed w/ Crohns, which is a relatively known disease. I lost 30 pounds in 1 month and one of the MANY Dr. referred me to psych because he believed it was all in my head. Your story is amazing and I hope there is someone out there who can solve the mystery for you.

@tvs9978 lol unique for sure. And that's not even the half of my medical journey... my story is full of many chronic illnesses, a heart attack at age 35 and I'm currently battling cancer. I could write a book about my journey through life. I'm definitely grateful that I've been able to maintain a positive outlook on everything. I wouldn't wish what I've been through on anyone but I've been able to help others by sharing my journey so as long as good things come out of all this, I can be ok with that. I'm one hell of a tough cookie and I plan to stay that way 😁❤️

I’m glad you finally have an answer but I’m sorry you have endometriosis. It’s not fun at all. We really need better education around menstruation, what’s normal and what’s not, for the general public including boys/men and doctors. Appx 50% of the population will menstruate in their life (are, or have) and GPs need a better understanding of it and when to refer someone to a specialist.

I never heard about these things from other women or from medical practitioners. I couldn't agree more. I'm 66, and when I was 28, I suffered from severe endometriosis for a full year, while no fewer than four doctors told me it was all in my head and even referred me to a psychiatrist. When it was determined it wasn't all in my mind I found a doctor who did surgery. He told me my uterus was FILLED with endometriosis and dried up cysts. He said that I literally had no choice but to have a hysterectomy and it was a good thing I did, as it was precancerous.

Every month has been irregular I'll have 4-5 days of period for one uterus. And a day to day and half of just cramping but no blood. Then another 5-7 days of. At least they came at the same time eventually as a kid there would be months I'd have 2 periods and doctor would just be like your pattern is changing. Ignoring they were shorter periods3-5 days Vs 5 to 9. The bleeding all of last October wasn't fun though either. I fear having 2 distinct uterus that have own cycles menopause will never end

I am very glad that videos like this are available for people who want to understand what they are experiencing. I would have given anything to have access to this type of information when I was experiencing these types of issues. A 45 minute class at ten years old over something I didn't understand and wasn't experiencing, and a mother who was raised in a home where "that type of thing" wasn't discussed were my guides through this entire process. What I wouldn't have given.....

And here I thought 'period poop' was going to refer to that brown discharge you get toward the end of your period... glad I tuned in! I used to get cysts on my ovaries that made my period so much worse than normal! Including rectal cramps (SOOOO painful!) and actual period poops! Although, any kind of abdominal issue would do the same thing, like bladder problems... I thought it was because of the cramping and swelling.

I experienced everything you mentioned apart from increased sex drive , my periods were so heavy , the cramps and migraines so severe I felt totally wrecked. At 43 because of the clots , of which one was so big it felt like parting with a baby , I had an endometrial ablation . This stopped me from having a period and transformed my life . I still experienced monthly migraines and some bloating but all the other nasty effects of periods ended . I've felt like a new woman ever since.

This info is so important and invaluable to navigating life as a woman. Unfortunately, my mother was not the kind of mum I could talk to about anything below my bellybutton, which meant for years and many periods I was overwhelmed with anxiety, fear and embarrassment. Perhaps you could explain a few hormonal side effects & why sometimes, not all, I was overcome with uncontrollable/inexplicable anger/rage towards one person - a work colleague, friend or partner. It didn't matter, it was awful and I'd have apologise when I was back to normal. ThQ so much 🥰

Last year my mom hit sixty. She hadn't yet had menopause and was still having her period off and on. All her life she's had irregular periods. She went into her Dr to get checked and they thought it might be uterine fibroids so they did an ultrasound and ran other tests. Turns out she had uterine cancer! She immediately went on some low dose chemo pills while she went through all the pre surgery tests and paperwork. A month later they did a full hysterectomy and sent it in for testing. Thankfully the results came back with no spreading and that they got it all ! Tomorrow she's going in to make sure she's still ok. So ladies if any of this fits you? Hi, thanks so much for enlightening us on various topics of mensturation especially on heavy periods, clots and discharge! A lot of times many people including gyneas treat these questions like a taboo or brushing it off as "normal". One question I'd like to ask, covid-19 has affected period badly even after 3 months on. Extremely heavy, painful than it used to, lots of larger clots, and lasts longer than it did prior. Treatment to manage it is typical, ibuprofen for pain, etc 😩. Will it ever return to normal? Is there anything else that should we look out for?

I hope periods will get more and more normalized. I grew up without a mum but I think that might have helped with openly talking about stuff like this (with my dad etc.). Now I have a friend (we're both late twienties) and she keeps telling me how glad she is to have someone to talk to about these things because she can't even ask her own mum or sister, they both feel uncomfortable (at the moment she's learning how to use tampons since she never had before and I've been using them since my teens, giving her tips and tricks on how to use them, just today she sent me a message that she managed to put one in and she was so happy and I'm happy for her) and I'm just as glad. It's so freeing being able to talk about bodily functions without fear and embarrassment.

I seriously thought that I was dying and had passed my liver out of me. I had a clot that was the size of my palm. I called my mom crying because I was convinced I was dying. So, when my daughter started her period I made sure she knew that clots can be various sizes and that no question is off limits...and I won't laugh at you if you think you are dying.
