Good luck with the I-phone? I have been a Galaxy user since the beginning of Smart phones and I tried the I-phone and switched back within a few weeks because the OS seems completely different and wasn't working for me. Android OS is simple Apple OS is for techies. LOL. Good Luck.
I was kinda hoping you'd show off that Arrow Video release of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). Well.. if you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for? Great Sci-fi Horror with a stellar cast 🤩
I grabbed it and I it looks slightly better then Kino's ... I have both, so I'm just being honest. I'm a fan of all since the 50s version. It's bigger the the avg. Arrow Le chunky box and has a slip cover like the Carrie Le has... I'm happy with my purchase, but if your not a super fan then kino's is great too...
I just noticed that the priest in the park on the swing is a cameo appearance by Robert Duvall. First time I've noticed that after watching this movie, at least 15 times since it came out. I always love the Kevin McCarthy scene since he was the main character in the original ... it makes think he's still running through northern California from city to city screaming through the streets trying to warn people.... you gotta see the original and the remake Ken....
Invasion of the Body Snatchers is worth seeing asap. Extraordinary movie filled with relentless paranoia. One of the very best horror movies I’ve ever seen.
@@midlevelmedia The original black and white is good also, has a better ending at least with Kevin McCarthy (also in the 1978 version) and The Misfits, Marilyn and Clark Gable's last full movie.
The Last of the Mohicans has always been top tier for me since I saw a TV airing in the mid 90s, edited for violent content. I immediately ran out and bought the VHS. It blew me away.
In regards to Little Darlings, it's a bit funny to see how oblivious you are to who Kristy McNichol is. She was so hyped as a teen during the 70s. I was sick of seeing her face all over the magazine covers at the checkout lines. Kristy was lauded as a good little TV child actor. I can see the Eleven, Stranger Things, now that you mention it. It would be a very 80s thing to do. I only began to appreciate her when she was on the sitcom, Empty Nest. Tatum O'Neal was rarely seen even though she got that Oscar so young. She became more famous for the family drama, with her dad, later on.
Kristy was probably the biggest female teen star in the late seventies, because of the TV series Family. After Little Darlings she struggled a bit. Her best film afterwards was White Dog that played for only one day, in one theater in Detroit. All other showings were canceled because of the theme. She rescues the white dog but discovers it was trained to attack black people. Then she has to try and deprogram it with the help of Paul Winfield.
@@midlevelmedia the one fortunate thing I will give you missing out on the radness of the 70s, is you didn’t need to watch a movie through a cloud of cigarette smoke.
Ken, Madalene Stowe was a in western called BAD GIRLS also. I have the nice DVD from years back. Some well-known actresses from the 90s in it. Aside from Unlawful Entry, she was in Stake Out part 1, which is not on Blu-ray to this day that I know of.
Awesome video, Ken! Love this style of video where it’s just you talking about your pickups and the films themselves. As Above So Below super underrated! Nice pickup. Ready for my KL Kindergarten Cop to come in!
I don’t buy films I know nothing about, a lot of random releases. I’m happy with Footloose in 4K, it’s a worthy upgrade. Hollow Gate is a fun film. Southern Comfort looks interesting because it’s by Walter Hill. Little Darlings is ok.
@midlevelmedia That's fair enough. I don't get sent free films to review so... I just like my collection to be a personal one, to say something about me and show my tastes, etc. I notice some people buy anything and everything, quantity over quality, that's never made sense to me.
@@KirkRedgate I get it. I'm just in a different position right now because I try to cover as much of this stuff as I can for the channel and you all watching. May not always be that way, but right now I'm enjoying it.
@midlevelmedia Yeah, it makes sense to cover quantity for your channel. It's more content at the end of the day. You're not gonna turn down freebies lol.
Glad you like Little Darlings, Ken. The girl you describe as the hardened girl who looks like Millie Bobbie Brown is Kristy McNichols. She was very famous on TV in the early 80's and her brother was a well known actor, too.
Goodbye & Amen is probably right up your alley; cleverly written Italian hostage/thriller involving the CIA. Stars Tony Musante, who you're probably familiar with from gialli films.
Are you getting that slip box that Vinegar Syndrome put out for the two Freeway films. The listing says they fit with the slips and can be purchased separately. As of this comment says there's 300 left.
I may or not be obsessed with Boogie Creek. I have driven 8 hours one way to visit the gift shop twice. I was excited to see the blue rack of the orginal down there and now I know there is a 4k. I will have to get Boogie Creek 2 as well.
I am Soooo hoping that The Last of the Mohicans gets the royal 4K treatment by someone. It so deserves it. By the way, Imprint, out of Australia, first released Fear is the Key on a region free blu-ray.
Hey Ken, did you run out to Best Buy to see if they still had an Exorcist: Believer 4K steelbook for $9.99? I went to mine and didn’t find one, but I did pick up the Megan 4K steelbook for $9.99. I also picked Terms of Endearment, Double Jeopardy, The Truman Show, and Trading Places all on 4K at Barnes & Noble during their in store only 50% off Paramount titles sale. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a copy of the Red Eye 4K but still satisfied with the titles I picked up. It’s a sale that’s kind of under the radar.
Im getting Southern Comfort 4k and eying this The Dr Hitchcock. i heard it has creepy interesting visuals .......italian sounds cool plus they know how to film with Style and touch of Class. Even Serial killers perform their art in Style....😅 Think Blood Black Lace.+ beautifully classy woman screaming 😱
Southern Comfort was a fun watch - but silly plot if you ask me. 4k looked great, but as far as a “Great Film” I didn’t think so. Take a watch and judge for yourself. Great idea doing these vids. I think I’m going to adopt a similar idea “Physical Media Forever” for my monthly update collection vids. Imitation is the highest form of flattery 😉
Haha! Go for it bud. I watched Southern Comfort last night and really enjoyed it. A little ridiculous, but I liked how Wickerman it got in the final act. Lol
Ken, I watched my VS copy of Southern Comfort and come to find out it’s a Fox release. So, looks like Disney licensed it to VS. BTW, I used to like Southern Comfort more than Existenz, but after watching them both this week I think I now like Existenz more.
I looked into it a bit after I saw the Fox logo and it looks like it was produced by a company called Cinema Group Ventures. 20th Century Fox just handled the distribution. I don't think Disney owns it now.
Southern Comfort 4K ... is the release of the yr so far for me. Walter Hill is one of my favorite directors. I would love Hill's .. Crossroads .. on 4K. With the resurgence of Ralph Macchio in recent yrs, I can't believe Sony hasn't released it. Just a crappy blu from Mill Creek.
I don’t disagree, since Vinegar does some of the best work, but I’m ok with a few Blurays here and there. Not everything they are able to do that full restoration on.
Regarding Southern Comfort... First...I just wanted to say that this movie features actual footage of animals being killed. I don't consider myself to be a prude, but that was a bit much. It honestly serves no purpose and it tainted what was otherwise an ok movie. Second...did anybody else receive a copy with a crooked case? My outer VSU case is very crooked. When I sit it alongside my other VSUs, it isn't remotely flush. You can tell it is a manufacturing issue. I contacted their support and they tried to act like it was normal. I pushed back on that because my other VSUs are all fine and they then claimed that there was a production issue with this release alone and every copy they had on hand has the same exact manufacturing defect. Did anyone else get one like this? The only justification for paying $50+ for one of their movies is the premium presentation and this feels pretty amateurish.
Boy I’m I glad I didn’t by the steel book of Silent Night 🤮worst revenge movie I ever seen. What’s the use of have an Atmos movie when there is no dialog. No freemen one speaks in this movie. The script was one G dam page. They could have don’t so much with this idea and blew it
