Wow! Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to respond so comprehensively. Yes it works just the same on Mac. I get a whole lot of invoices and documents through the web and it is most useful to have access to many of them together in one place through ScanSnap Home since I use it every day. Most are Acrobat files or can be converted to be.

You are most welcome Huw. It's my pleasure. I'm glad to know that it works the same on Mac. I appreciate you teaching me something new. I hadn't considered the need to import documents into ScanSnap Home that did not originate in ScanSnap Home. I'm glad to know something new and ideally this video and our conversation may help other people too. 🙂 Thanks again. Let me know if anything else comes up. 👍 As an aside, if you need to buy anything on Amazon, please consider using my generic affiliate link so that I will get a small commission at no cost to you: amzn.to/3aPTEC0. Thanks again Huw. 🙂

Hi Sean, thanks for the video. I came across this because I wanted more info on ScanSnap's tagging feature but i'm not able to discern Huw's original question. At least for me, what I'm trying to do is tag documents as you said. But I wonder if that tagging is available somehow across multiple computers. I'm using OneDrive like you and saving there but I don't see how ScanSnap's tags are stored anywhere? There local AppData folder which maybe is where it's stored, but that means that if I scan into a shared folder, others can't filter docs by tags? Maybe your comment about software going away is because maybe ScanSnap will remove this feature? I see everything is considered "Content Data Record" but just don't know where it's stored. Any thoughts appreciated!

Hi there. You are most welcome. Please excuse the delay in my response. Did you end up finding an answer to your question? I'm not sure where exactly, in a technical sense, the tags are stored. I don't personally use the tagging feature for exactly the reason I mentioned, which is that if software changes, I don't want to be lost. I'm reasonably certain that Microsoft Windows Explorer won't change in my lifetime (fingers crossed) but I'm never certain about other kinds of software, because I know that sometimes companies change direction and no longer support hardware and software. If you like, please send me an email and I can reach out to someone I know at the manufacturer who may be able to help.

@@SeanDillmanHey Sean no i wasn't able to figure it out. I found some other utilities that will store metadata, either through a companion file in the folder or modifying the filename to have tags. I didn't like those solutions because it was still hard to search. I don't have a solution yet but I'm going to investigate installing a Document Management System (DMS) on a NAS I have at home and then access the files through web based interface, but also have it synced to OneDrive as a backup/fast access if I'm not at home.

I wanted to set up a profile for my scansnao scanner but with your videos and the manual I think I have come to realize the profile is not person based . It is based on what you are scanning - is that correct?

Hi Jan. I looked on the Fujitsu website to try to find you the most useful page. Please visit the following link: www.pfu.fujitsu.com/imaging/downloads/manual/ss_webhelp/en/help/webhelp/topic/ope_profile_change_user.html In short, I think that there is a different between 'User Profiles' and 'Scan Profiles'. For example, you could have three user profiles: Ashley, Bobby, and Charlie. Each of these users can have their own individual Scan Profiles, such as Scan to Folder, Receipt, Photo, Scan to Email, etc. In total, there are over 30 profiles in 6 profile types: Recommended, Business, Personal, Cloud Services (via ScanSnap Cloud Server), Cloud Services (via a client application), and Useful Tips. Is that helpful?

Since some time I cannot import and edit imported PDF‘s anymore. I always get the message that this pdf was not created by ScanSnap Home and I’m only able to open it in viewer mode. Any solutions about this?😢

Hi @@SeanDillmanI have the same issue. Specifically, if you create a pdf through Microsoft office lens, scansnap will identify it as foreign per the same error message. All well and good but it's disappointing there is no option to convert the file. Any ideas?

Do you know how to relocate files to folders without affecting scan snap home or doing it inside the app? Also, how do you merge documents? I have just got an ix1500 but can figure out theses basic functions.

HI Mohammed. Those are good questions. Regarding relocating files to folders, I see that in ScanSnap Home, if you scan something, then move the file within the operating system to a new folder, and then try to open the file in ScanSnap Home, a message comes up which says “The file has been removed or renamed by the operator outside ScanSnap Home software and cannot be located by ScanSnap Home. Check the last known location shown below.” I suppose that in response to this, you would need to delete the records in ScanSnap Home and then drag the files into ScanSnap home from their new folder within the operating system. It would be good if there was a function in ScanSnap home whereby it detected if the files moved and then linked up with them again, based on whatever factors (name, size, date, file type, etc.). I’m not sure though. Perhaps there is such a function. I know people who work at Fujitsu and I’ll run your question by them for an answer. Please stay tuned. As for merging documents, this can be done. Simply open a scan in ScanSnap Home and it will open the viewer. Position the viewer in your monitor so that you can see it as well as the main ScanSnap Home interface. From the ScanSnap Home interface, you can drag documents into the viewer and add them into the document pages (which is the left-hand part of the Viewer screen). Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.
