IQ is better on A6300/6500, but is harder to use (shorter battery life, smaller camera...) that's why I said it would be better for film. GH5 is easier to use, so it would be better run and gun camera.

BTW is the overheating completely solved with the A6500? I could imagine a heavy filming day could put quiet some stress on the camera. Unthinkable with the A6300.

Extremly good. I myself are a professional GH4 user. I see the good in the GH5 and have it on preorder, but the dynamic range is still around 10 (without vlog - with it's 12 - and this is without)... this shows that quite a bit. He would have needed an ND. C300 looks gorgeous. I always loved Canon colors! But who can spend 15.000 $ as an owner/operator every three years + it does not support high framerates in 4K.

At launch, GH5 will shoot 10-bit 4:2:2 at 150Mbps (IPB). But a firmware update will come to record in ALL-I 400Mbps (IPB).

At 4:03 when it goes from (guessing a C300 or like) to the GH5 all blown out I nearly had a heart attack. Then it cuts back at 4:25 and it's actually just super bright.

Ummmm.......you say that 150mbs internal 10bit 4:2:2 isn't available until April but I think that's incorrect. Out of the box at launch it should be at will be 150mbs 24/30p. I think you are referring to 60p. Also there is a 2 stop effective increase in iso performance whereas the GH4 went sour at anything above 800

You are correct. 10bit 4:2:2 is there already, in Cinema4K at 24p and in UHS 4K up to 30p.

If Panasonic made an update to the AF100 body with the internals of the GH5, they'd blow the Canon C100 out of the water.

IMHO there are non-spec qualities that the Canon C-series have over the Panny's such as the cinematic quality of the footage, the colour science, and the skintones (which are specifically recognised and can be adapted). But yes, Canon really need to up their game when it comes to high frame rates etc.

it doesnt. It helps you dim the sky enough to maintain the highlights.

so does your ISO setting or aperture. there wasn't a reason for ND's unless he wanted shallow DOF. But that has nothing to do with DR. :)

lol usually every camera has a native iso with the most dynamic range. So if the GH5 native iso is 400 then if you are using iso 200 you will lose 1 stop of dynamic range. If you use a higher ISO and get a bunch of noise then you have to de-noise and will lose details. If you have an ND filter, bc you are filming outside then you could use iso 400 without losing dynamic range. Also if you have a good ND filter and not a cheap one. Your right on ND to get the shallow DOF though. Also that's why a bunch of people would film in log style to get the most dynamic range and figure out what they want to do in post. =).

This is more of a Canon C300 MkII Review than a GH5 review. I mean...look at those fine sweet colors! And that cinematic feel/ motion blur. GH5 doesnt seem to get close to that. From the footage here, at least.

P.S= Wish the 5Dmk4 would look closer to the C300. There's something about the sensors used in Canon's cinema line..I dont know..things look a bit better than the 5D line, not by a lot, but they do.... Just can't bother carrying that shit on my back...5Dmk4 it is, then...with hopes for Magic Lantern...

I think I will stick with my Panasonic G80 for now. It offers good quality at a great price. It is annoying that you would have to pay to get the log profile given the GH5's price point. I would also like to see Panasonic give those of us who do actually take photos as well as shoot videos some better upgrades. I feel they are now so obsessed with the video features that the photography side is being neglected a bit.

If it was only NOT MFT... I'd be sold on a FF or APSC version of the GH5. That MFT sensor is just too small for me. Such features as the GH5 has really belong on a larger sensor.
