That was tremendous! I'm so thankful. Greg, if I had met you ten years ago, I wouldn't've lost a scholarship to study abroad. Well, what's done is done. If I had got the scholarship, maybe I wouldn't have met my friend Christ, so, thank God for that!
If I had studied English with you, I would have made a big progress. I would not have gone so far if I hadn't watched your videos for a long time. You rock! Cheers!
I've been watching some of you videos and learning lots of things from them. I've become your fan. It's no use only watching the vidieo, if we don't practice the structures, we will end up forgeting all about it. I am speaking from my own experience, because I've already studied this stuff, however I've never ever practiced the third ciditional tense by saying it out loud and because of that it has become a bit confusing in terms of spoken practice. I hate to admit it, but I have been confusing the third conditional with the second one just because of my laziness towards practicing this tense, but only until now. Thanks for the lesson, dear Greg.
If i hadn't met you, i obviously wouldn't have known so many tricks and tips to sound more fluent in English! You are my favorite teacher on RU-vid! Thank you so much!
Hi Greg, I just want to tell you that your teaching methot is really marvelous! If I hadn't followed this video-lesson, I wouldn't have learned the third condtional. Thanks a lot! Bye for now and see you in the next lessons! 😀
Thanks for the 100% practical stuff. Now I can make an infinite loop using 3rd conditional. I can barely speak before, but now I can keep talking by utilizing 3rd condition for hours. From something like "If I hadn't been born, I wondn't have been named Torin." All the way to "If I'd joined the Lakers, I would've helped Kobe out in 2011." Thanks again, please keep up the good work.
Wery well explained, once mire! Actually it's easy to the French learner I am, because we have the same structures of sentences. And all in that is very logical. To exercise the pronunciation, chunks you showed us are a very good way. Thank you for all you do fir us! 230811
Hi Greg! Thank you for your lesson! Great as usual, but if I may, let me give you a piece of advice. Don't give examples of wrong English because they tend to be memorized more easily than the correct ones.
1) "if I had studied hard, I would've passed the exam" 2) "I would have greeted you, if you had arrived" 3) "If you hadn't been there, you wouldn't have seen that" 4) "Would you called her, if she hadn't helped you?"
Greg, I`m 66 and french-speaking. I`ve read many english books in my life, mostly in the scientific field. It`s the first time I see a double contractions. If I wrote ``wouldn`t`ve`` in a composition, the teacher wouldn`t mark it as an error?
Double contractions look very informal in writing, so the teacher might call it an error. It might be on the level of "sh'ais pas", which is a double contraction in French. A French teacher might accept that in conversation, but would expect "je ne sais pas" in writing. Formal English writing usually avoids contractions. About a dozen common contractions appear in semi-formal writing. Double contractions almost never appear in writing. Contractions can also be regional. For example I might double-contract "I would have" as "I'd've", but Greg's simpler contraction "I would've" sounds odd to me.
Can you make a video about Conditions in Passive Voice? Look here, please. Can I say like this: If I had been granted a visa to UK, I would have visited it or in question Would you have visited UK if you had been granted a visa? Or in negative. I would have visited UK if I hadn't been rejected a visa or I would not have visited UK because I had been denied a visa to UK.
If I hadn't graduated from medical university, I wouldn't've become a doctor. If I hadn't become a doctor, I wouldn't've lived in hospital. If I hadn't lived in hospital I would've got married. If I'd got married I would've had children.
if i had internet i wouldn't been bored . if i had clearified my point cleary i wouldn't have lost my respect . That wouldn't have never happened to me if i hadn't been naive.
