I find that with the tack strip you need pretty thick carpet, otherwise when the carpet gets squished down over time you'll be able to feel the tacks on bare feet.

Great technique(s) for carpet to hardwood transition. I like the first method with the tack strip. I'm finishing up my stairway with wood stairs and am/was trying to find a way to get a professional look between my carpet and a transition piece. Your video showed me the perfect solution. You mentioned stretching into the tack strip and tucking the carpet up to the hardwood always seems to come loose. Might I recommend when doing that to put a bead of hot glue between the tack and the hardwood. I promise that carpet won’t be going anywhere.

What is the best transition type you can use for 3/4" hardwood floor to carpet? A threshold or a reducer? I am installing wood flooring and would like to not have any raised area on my floor like a threshold transition piece would provide, but I don't know if a reducer can be used or if the carpeting & padding would be higher than the reducer. I appreciate your help and love watching your videos!

Are you shooting the staples on the tack strip?

I like how those transitions went about but I have a question on how I should do it properly and make it look good. I have a garage that was enclosed and they carpeted it. It's carpet on top of concrete. I want to cut the carpet in half down the middle of the room and leave half carpet and put down 1/8" thick checkered 12x12 vinyl flooring on the other half. How can I make this a clean profession looking transition?

I’m having carpet installed tomorrow am and right now when you walk up my carpeted stairs into my living room there is laminate wood flooring. The old carpet we are removing has an old brass colored metal transition piece tacked onto the carpet where it seams against the wood floor. I’m hoping they can do this folded over transition. Looks much better. Any tips?

I'm installing a 3/4" wood hallway next to existing carpet (bedrooms). Do I have to use a transition piece? Can't the carpet be tacked to meet the wood instead of using the transition piece? Thank you.

What's the plan when there is a carpet seam right in the threshold? Folding it reveals the ugly seam. Are you stuck just tacking and abutting?
