That would be a fantastic tool for someone who likes to walk and vlog at the same time. But it definitely is a niche drone. That price is way too steep for what you get unless you really need that feature of easy portability / use and don't need the advanced capabilities of normal drones. Great video as always Keith! Neat little gadget and nice it's going for a different area of the market than where other drones have dominance in the space. Feel like it would need either a remote or the ability to live control from a phone at least before it would be useful enough to me to justify the price, if they added that I could see getting one as a secondary/backup drone or a drone dedicated to my smaller cam bags.
Indeed it follows and re-acquires the best of any drone I've used, maybe the Skydio 2+ was better because it had visual track then switched to GPS until the visual was regained. Something I should have demonstrated is that the device can manually control the drone but it is clunky and the distance is limited to something like 50 feet, but it is possible. I will be trying it for B-roll/second view camera or to get some establishing shots and see how it works, but for the way we fly I can't see it replacing a different drone yet. If I was a hard core trail bike rider/vlogger I think it would be awesome for that...
I like the concept, just not the ($479 Amazon) price. you can get a fully packaged DJI mini 2 SE with everything you could ever need for $470. Im sure the HOVERair X1 will have its niche, but for normal drone use such as why I bought my DJI mini 2 se for recreational fun only it's just to pricy! 🚁fly em if you got em! Oh, and I liked your video, so I thumbs upped it twice instead.... lol
DJI is expected to be launching something similar (except better) to the HoverX1Air this fall. Price will be $199.99 including 2 batteries and a case. PS. It wll be called the DJI Solo.
Good to know! It is a good concept but does have a unique niche for sure. Follows better than even a higher priced DJI does at this point. If DJI thinks there is a market they will try and put something out to eliminate the competitors for sure...

As a whole I agree it's not even close, BUT the follow mode on the HoverAir is arguably better. If I had the kids run around the same way with a DJI it would have lost the subject in about 2 seconds, not to mention that the Mini 2 SE, Mini 2 and Mini 4k don't even have follow mode. It is niche product for sure but it's not without its charm... 😎
Way too much money even at $350! That's as much as a grocery bill. I dont think people realize unless they really put the work in to stuff They not going to last to long in this economy.
It's on sale right now. 440 for the combo. But my issue with the drone is that the battery life is short. It lasts about 10 minutes. So you want to be picky when you want to record, and you might need to invest in more batteries. They don't run cheap. They’re about 40 dollars per piece.
