Well thats just untrue. He has a taste for decent collabs but puts himself into playing bare rubbish like this, meaning his priority is the rythm, not the music.
If Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart are Ferraris, Lambo etc and these fast cars, then Travis is Mazda rx7, ae86 etc. It's not the fastest that makes people go "woah" but man, it's interesting to watch the drifts. Just coz he's not the fastest, don't mean he's not one of the most creative drummers out there

There is so much in this. The stick handling is badass and the rhythmic dialogue is awesome. Not sure anyone else would play this exactly like he does, so who cares if someone is deemed « better » - this is just really completely great - he had to have had some marching band in is early past.

Probably because of the title of the video bud... dudes a fantastic drummer for sure, but using the "goat" label suggest he's above the likes of buddy rich,, John bonham,, Keith moon,,mitch Mitchell,, neal pert,, ginger Baker etc..
No disrespect to Travis, especially after having met and talked with him, but there are about 500+ DCI kids that will blow this $hit out of the water. He’s a drummer as am I and we are humble enough to know that there is ALWAYS someone better than you.

His fans are not drummer fans. They are Travis fans due to his mix collab with other culture like hip hop, for adding his upbeat drumming. His fans couldn't sit through and enjoy a straight drum solo on stage. They just like him for upbeating their favorite rap song.
@@QanunAlShah, He’s been selling out stadiums because the music he makes is accessible to a wider audience. Not that that’s necessarily bad, but it also doesn’t mean he’s the greatest drummer either.
Neil Piert was a whole different level. But Travis is Rocksolid and the man for the job with Blink 182. Fun fact he was in drumline at 7years old . Very good with rudiments and snare work. I wish people would stop comparisons and either give a thumbs up or keep it moving

Thanks for the comment. I’m not a drummer and while I know it would be crazy to compare him to a legend like Neil Peart or Danny Carey, there did seem to be a technical proficiency here that’s above that of the average drummer from a famous band
I had the pleasure of meeting Travis in Vegas he was eating at the time. He still took the time to take a picture with him and Courtney. He's the Best and just on the drums!
@@jamesturner6949 I'm a music freak. I am into thrash metal though and in that genre, there are lots of greats. Travis has always been one of my favorites. Just his cool snare rolls in Blink are unreal to me. But... the tats on his everything are just kinda too much. Next thing we know, he'll marry a Kardashian and really become completely stupid. The dude really is a great drummer.
Apparently A lot of people on here have no idea what they’re talking about or what they are seeing. Travis is a musical genius, a trail runner and an inspiration in the drum world and even to many people that don’t know Blink 182 (who would be nothing without him). He has worked his ass off his entire life to get to where he is, which a lot of people have no concept of. Keep talking shit if it makes you feel better.
He definitely the goat at punk rock and hip hop drumming. Cant no body touch him in those genres, they dont got the swag ha... And hes a genius with it
I celebrate all drummers who have the passion and love for this instrument. I personally have been inspired by this man and many others, including my little brother, who I introduced to the art some 30-odd years ago. Love the foundation 🥁
about you. yes. Neil hated fan ass kissing like that. And he was an average player. He had his thing, and was a GREAT team player. But not what you think as far as actual drum technique. He took lessons for one though...
I personally appreciate a drummer's ability to be creative, expressive, original, and add to the depth of a song. On those measures, Travis is 2nd to none.
I just can’t stop watching this. I’m almost 22, been wanting to play drums for about 9 years and II single handedly made me decide to go buy a practice pad and sticks. It isn’t much but I’m so excited to start my journey 🖤
He’s a modern day Goat!!! And one of the nicest people you will EVER meet. Humble and very easy to talk to. I was next door neighbors with one his side project band mates skinhead Rob, both super chill and great guys..
Dude was one of the founders of an entire genre of music. That means more to me than how fast his hands can move, how big his kit is, or how many time signatures he can switch between.
This is what it's like to be able to pay drums for a living. He is a great drummer. Sometimes a little too busy for my liking, and others just perfect.
