OMG I love this song. My favorite by any band, but it is especially my favorite because it relates to my personal journey over the last half decade going through a 180 degree shift in my political allegiances. This is literally a call to fight. The first chorus says "who's gonna be the one" because in any crisis from a heart attack or car accident to a global climate catastrophe, most people stand around waiting for someone else to step forward and handle it. Then she says "who's gonna be the one who cares? Who's the daredevil to protest? Come on you m*****f***er step up from the crowd put your fist in the air and shout out loud 'I'm gonna be the one!'" but she's not addressing one person, she's saying our problems today are so big that no one person can fix them, we all have to decide that we're going to be "the one" to step up. I also love the double meaning later on when she says "pick of the weapon, of your own choice" which on one hand is saying choose a weapon, but also saying that conscious choice is a weapon as well. I love the ending most of all though. It would be so easy after waking up, to pretend one never believed the lies that one had fallen for all their lives. And so many are trapped by their feelings that they need to be consistent, and by sunk-cost fallacies that make it hard to turn their back on their past mistakes and move forward. It is so beautiful how she shifts from the strident call for change to the gentle and soulful reggae sound saying "don't deny the past you lived, don't neglect the future you have." The wisdom and power of this song just blows me away every time I hear it. Crowd size heavily depends on the size of the venue. The two shows I went to were both sold out at venues with 400 and 800 capacity. On the other end of that, Wacken draws a crowd of 80,000 split among several stages, so the Perennial live at Wacken video is probably somewhere on the order of 10,000 people watching that stage at 11am in the morning since they are an up-and-coming band at Wacken for the first time and got a lousy time slot. Judgement & Punishment has more reggae, and amazing instrumental composition. Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev has more of those low growls, but the 2.5 years of growth later version of those growls that are even more savage.
Yeah, this song is really pumping up and up and up, right until the end at least. Great for doing your household too. :) The song is a bit older, although I'd argue this live gig sounds better than the old studio recording. Thematically it is about environmental issues, like a lot of the songs from the same album. It is about doing your part, and not wait for someone else to do it, or to speak out. You, me, we all can do our part, we all can speak out when something is wrong, we all are the one who can take the first step that might form a movement. I think the album was mostly about pollution, but I think it still is all the more relevant today with the issues we are facing, and the absurd response we are giving it. And yes, hard to pick THE favorite Jinjer song. They are all so very different and great in their own right, which is why I decided to just have a lot of favorites. Other live performances I'd recommend: On the Top & Pit of Consciousness both live in Kiev, and Judgement & Punishment live in Melbourne (especially if you liked the reggae bit). For official videos I would go for: I Speak Astronomy, Cloud Factory (same album as this one), Sit Stay Roll Over, Retrospection. The videos for Perennial, Pit of Consciousness and Judgment & Punishment are worth a watch too, with or without reaction.
As I told you, I've also been a musician for around 40 years, and I'm interested in various musical genres, but what can I say, if you deal with Jinjer more, you'll register even more, how extraordinarily well the whole band is, including the lyrics of Tatiana, also in comparison to other bands !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your reaction to this song, and maybe you can do another song that is not wanted so often: JINJER - Words of Wisdom (Live) | Napalm Records, but Jinjer does not have any bad song, and that's a problem............................................. we made a CD with a rapper from the united states about 30 years ago, but it's not hip hop, it's a musical style of many different styles, but I realy like hip hop, my favorite is Old School Rap.............. kind regards from Germany and stay safe!
You need to do I speak astronomy by jinjer. The bands diversity is ridiculous. The band became one of my favorites towards the end of last yr after listening to 2 songs by them. Band is crazy talented.
My favorite has been changing constantly.. it was Pisces, then Teacher, Teacher, then Perennial...now it's Pisces again. But I think Retrospection and Captain Clock might change that. They're fucking awesome!
Since you loved the reggae feel of this one, I highly recommend Judgement and Punishment, One take vocal performance. It's phenomenal! You won't be disappointed!
Good reaction! during last year's I hear the hell out of all of Jinjer songs and videos..for my opinion ,,who is gonna be the one,, is p4p of their lives, and I think,, captain clock,, live will be a new delicious to you:) , is a #2 from my Jinjer live SHORT-LIST) And.. Happy birthday🎉🎂
Awesome! Jinjer´s box of tricks and suprises is mezmerizing. One of my favorites too. And this live performance is something! Guess I´m gonna vote for the next one now. Peace.
It's cool that you said this song was aggressive sings motivational. You obviously got a perfect read on it. This song is an environmental protest song
This show, was one of their best festival performances in Germany. But when you wanna see Jinjer, take a concert in a small venue 😉 I would like to see a reaction on I speak astronomy😍😍
Probably not my favorite song in the grand scheme of things (not like they have any *bad* songs though). Lyrics are great, as always. But it's right up there in terms of the performance. Tatiana at her energetic, charismatic, growly best and the boys are in fine form. The little jazzy bit at the end is just icing on the cake.
This. This isn't my favourite Jinjer song, but it's probably my favourite official live video/performance. Maybe biased by the performance, but this song feels crafted for a high energy performance - structure, lyrics, all of it. Doesn't hurt that the scream/growl progression thing at 7:22 was probably the best thing I've ever heard. I pretty much love every song they have right down to Beggar's Dance (it's my morning alarm), so it's not a knock on Who Is Gonna Be The One studio, or other Jinjer songs live for sure. If I had to make a tier list, most of Macro and Micro would probably end up above Who Is Gonna Be The One.
Am i weird for liking Ape and On the top way more then who is gonna be the one? Like, i know how spectacular she is on stage, but i really do prefer their music videos lol Everyone is like "check out Perennial live at wacken open air 2019", but man, their music video for Perennial is so much more killer... I do prefer music videos over lives. Anyway, good reaction!
██ Crossover of black metal & hip hop: Uratsakidogi - Black Hop II (Black Hop на районе) #vr3HwydF6p0 *(with Eng.subs)* More mixed styles: Uratsakidogi / Я♥Д Блэк-Хоп на Районе (Dance Macabre mix) #DoXfauaU94o
*** "How They Do It" *** Tatiana is the soul, and Eugene (who is the bassist) is the form ... 99% of the lyrics were written by Tatiana and 99% of the arrangements were created by Eugene - two talents collided in this universe (they used to be a couple for years, but now they are no longer together, but remained close friends ... Eugene now married and he already has a child, and Tatiana is dating with Suicide Silence's drummer Alex) ... Stay Metal! Peace!
Not to put down Eugene - he is epic - but Vlad has been an active part of their musical composition team since he joined, and Roman was in the band long before Eugene jonied in 2011 and you can see the same kinds of very diverse and technical guitar riffage in songs from OIMACTTA from 2009. As to Tati, it was more like 90% of the lyrics, at least until Macro, now a bit higher since she did all the lyrics from Macro, though I'm sure the vocal composition is all her.
@@j.f.fisher5318 Hi Jeffrey, you're welcome again (and everytime)... Absolutely I will not argue - you are right (just as I am) ... I did not try to play down the role of Vlad, but let's look into the eyes of the truth - Tati and Eugene will remain the core of the group anyway ... Vlad and Roman are great musicians, but they are GREAT MUSICIANS ... and Tatiana and Eugene are like "Picasso in Music" ... not everyone will understand and see their work, but if they see it once, they will never be able to look at the world as before !!! Do you need the argue? Stay Metal! Peace!
A little correction. Now he has a third wife. And if we talk about the son, he is from the second one. With his first wife, he was married for less than a year :) I'm from Donetsk, so I have some mutual friends with band members. So it isn't from public sources...
STOP listen people. BE THE ONE who will take Jinjer older songs to show people it's amazing, but why? Older songs showing different emotions and levels. Last old Jinjer is Scissors Best from Poland - we fight right now for freedoom, just like Ukraine (Jinjer). Also please read about Ukraine and Russia - if U like Jinjer - know the context of everything. If You'll take RATM - flease start with Freedoom - it's also important too to listen one by one - not only "best ones".
