At 9:57 TDR stands for Time Domain Reflectometry - very handy as it allows measuring cable lengths (open or shorted) and also location of anomalies such as badly bent cables, and full or partial shorts or opens. Thanks for showing us this interesting product Scott.
Thanks very much for your very interesting video. Sadly, I watched it after I purchased this device from Amazon UK 🇬🇧 and paid through the nose for my troubles, costing me £319, and taught me to research before buying this equipment. That being said, it looks like everything I need to test and trace. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on this CCTV and Network tester.
I have had one for about 7 months now I buy and sell used cameras amongst other things and its great for doing quick checks after resets plus it can be used as a small monitor with the vga and hdmi to test a variety of computers, servers dvds even plug in a now tv dongle not that you would want to watch anything on it for more than 10mins but great for testeing when your out and about at boot fairs and stuff,enjoed your vid have subbed
Had a question. I understand this can plug into a network and scan for devices, including cameras allowing you to view them. Additionally, the device can use a patch cord to plug into a camera directly and power it up either with POE or DC & BNC (depending on camera type) to view or aim a camera. Can't seem to find if this can also have a poe cable plugged into it (from a poe switch for example) and give info on the power coming into it. Some of the listing I've seen are just information vomit on the features. Hard to know exactly what I can expect. You certainly helped, but was curious about what I asked.
good, how did I get to see the image on the poe ip camera? I have the same tester model and I can't get the image to show up, I give it the camera's ip and it always shows an error in the username and password, it's a dahua ip poe camera that was already working on an nvr
Just received the same unit and was looking for some help. If yo goto WLAN settings and "open the WIFI" "turning it on" I get a spinning circle the back to he open the wifi tab. I cannot get the wifi to stay on and pick a wifi network to sign into. Is this a bad unit or do I have something set wrong..
I bought this and 2 months later the PROBE is not making a sound when testing /tracing cables anymore. Any ideas why ? There is a MUTE button but it does not seem to UNMUTE. Is there any way to reset the probe ?
These things suck for IP cameras, they are nice for analog cameras but most new systems are IP. They are not good for IP cameras because the video stream and configuration is accessed through a webpage(or through a network video recorder). Many cameras have drivers that need to run on the browser and required being installed. The way they do this is so outdated that many brand new cameras can only be viewed through the webpage using Internet Explorer. At my job we bough a dozen of these for technicians but no one uses them, they plug a laptop into the POE switch that the camera is connected to so they can aim/focus the camera or tweak settings.
