These videos have been really helpful! I've been trying to teach myself from a book for a while, but it's all standard Finnish - and I want to try my best to not sound like a foreigner when I visit haha

Seriously so grateful for your videos! I’m going to be meeting my grandfathers family for the first time this summer in Finland! We have tons of family history there and I’m trying really hard to learn more of the language. My Mummu and Muster always spoke Finnish and Swedish when I was little but I don’t remember very much and they are no longer here to help me! This has been such a great tool with pronunciation and conversation! Keep up the good work and hi from Florida, USA! Kiitos!

Hyvää video Aleksi, kiitti! Maybe next time also give some examples about what to answer to questions such as mitä kuuluu?! And I think what Sara meant with that a-inbetween-sound was for example in words as selvä which often sound like sel(ä)vä.

Btw, Spanish pronunciation is more.difficult than Finnish. In general it follows the same rule : "each letter equals to one sound". However, in Spanish the meaning of a word can change depending on the stress. For example papa = potatoe and papá = father. Or publico = I publish. Publicó = he/ she published. Público = public. And as far as I have understood Finnish stress in words is always in the first consonant, so that's why I dare saying Finnish pronunciation is easier than Spanish. 😅

I want to clarify what “tassa” means coz i thought it means “here” whereas “tossa” means “there”. So when you ask: “is there a good restaurant nearby”, are you suppose to say : “ onks tossa lahella hyvaa ravintolaa” ?

I always get stuck with the sentence structure... So I sometimes say Finnish sentences as if I was speaking English ie. Onko tässä hyvää ravintolaa lähella? would this be understandable to a Finn?

Sara, dont mind about Y's or U's. i'll bet you get that when you speak and everybody will undrstand what you are trying to say. Japanese when they speak finnish they often mix letter u to y, and i think that is very common mistake. just be brave to speak and people will correct the pronounciation and you will learn. nobody won't mind if you make a mistake, they all are impressed that you are learning and want to learn.
