Here’s a testimony to encourage you. My parents were Asian idol worshippers. Talking to them about Jesus was difficult. So I refrained from doing so and I just prayed for them. I had a burden to pray for them, and I did it for 2 years without saying a single word to them about Jesus. I just prayed, a lot, in my private time. One day, as I was praying in tongues, the Lord told me “They are ready. Bring them to church.” I just heard and knew it was God talking to me. The faith also arose in me. So I obey and asked my parents if they wanted to go to church, there is an event and there is free food. They said yes WITH NO RESISTANCE. After the preaching, there was an altar call and they got saved. Prayer does something. Keep at it. Today, my mother has strong faith. We pray together and our prayers get answered.

I was stuck too until an evangelist helped me. He had me ask the Lord out loud to please bless me with the gift of speaking in tongues & then i did & then he told me to start speaking sounds like ahhh ehhhh ooohhhh awwww & just keep making different sounds & then after awhile the Holy spirit takes over. Its so amazing! I was born & raised in California & when i speak in tongues i sound just like the people in this video! Its mind blowing! Keep trying it's sooo worth it!
