I think this is a really important standard to learn. Great melody too! Leave me a comment on today's lesson, please hit the like button if you've gained value from it.

GREAT ! : some years ago when I started to play Jazz on my guitar, during a jam session the (experienced !) jazz pianist looked at me and asked : "hey, why do you play so many notes with your chords ?" I was so proud to show "Barré" - chords. I was totally wrong. Barrés confuse the voicing. I just came across your lesson exploring this Standard - everything is there. A complete documentation. It's fun to learn this way. THANKS Andy !

You're very welcome! It's odd how a more complex music style requires less notes than say pop or rock in which guitar players typically play 5 or 6 notes on each chord!

Great! I was looking for a standard to pull back out of the vault, and this is it. Thanks!

Thanks Andy for another great lesson, always looking forward to these comping standards. My favorite way of playing.

Thanks Andy! Those last 5 bars are really hard to process in the head versus the melody 😬

They sure are! They are quite often played incorrectly as a result 😅

Hi Andy great stuff. Thanks for this. As it turns out, this song is on my music stand and I'm currently working on this song and have been for the last couple weeks. Would you consider step two which is approach to soloing over this standard?
@jazzguitarwithandy

Hi Joe, thanks for the comment. The next video is harmonic analysis and the one after that is the soloing lesson.

What telecaster is that? What kind of neck and neck pickup does it have?
@jazzguitarwithandy
@jazzguitarwithandy 2 года назад
It's one Fender did as a limited run in 2016 for Guitar Centre. It has an all rosewood neck. Originally, it had a twisted tele in the neck, I've swapped it out for a Creamery Charlie Christian style pickup in hum bucker size. I love it!

Hi Andy! one question regarding to your series of lessons: Outlining the changes volumen 1: 251 I have your ebook from 251 in C major. Is this more or less the same content? I am interested in the series but i dont know if i should get this as i have the ebook. Thanks!!

Hey! It’s slightly different, but I have something coming soon that might be a better follow on from the 251 book. So maybe hold fire. How’s the practice going?

@@jazzguitarwithandy Great!! I will be waiting for it!! Thanks!! Andy, I am so lost on how to practice in a nice and fun way.. what i always do is record a progression (random) with the looper and train the arpeggios over it.. but it´s a bit boring now.. Maybe i should move to practice using the standards.. :D

@@ingluissantana I think it’s good to get lots in loops for a bit. It’s great for ear training and developing ideas. Always good then to take a step towards them getting those kind of ideas working over a standard.
