Technically, it's only AF1 and AF2 if both the POTUS and the VP are both there. The only time they're called such is when the President or Veep are on them, respectively. Since if memory serves, took Biden west to California, and the other returned to it's home base. Therefore one is AF1, and these second is just a beautiful plane.
One day I was held up entering the Kennedy (at Roosevelt) and found out that Obama had been visiting and was being escorted back to O'Hare. When the troopers released me and the other cars we were among the first to enter the expressway. It was so bizarre! I had no cars in front of me on the Kennedy.
My husband and I were in an Uber leaving the airport yesterday and saw this!!!!! I was excited to see the osprey’s. I had no idea that they were escorting Marine One 😂. How cool!!!! I feel so lucky to have seen it.
This was true after 9/11 and through early 2010’s. I used to work near O’Hare. I also used to remember hummers some with gun turrets. The hummers disappeared in the later years. At some point after our company moved, they only shut down 1/2 the airport.
What amazes me when AF 1 is on approach, any aircraft on the ground is at a stop. Any aircraft that's in the air that's anywhere about 20 miles + of O' Hare are in a holding pattern until The P.O.T.U.S have left the Aircraft and is mobile.
The tail numbers were removed by Air Mobility Command during 2023 on the USAF C-32/757 fleet. Removed for secuirty reasons. Other types have also had their tail numbers removed.
This is infuriating. Why did they need to land at OHare if it was to use helicopters to get to the convention? They could have landed somewhere in Wisconsin and get discretely to Chicago over Lake Michigan. Instead they had to disrupt traffic at OHare for NOTHING
They should have landed at Gary. But I’m not sure the 747 can land there. The politicians always view themselves as the number 1 priority. Public servants 😒 my arse
Well they keep talking about Global Warming Air force 1, and air force 2, two helicopters and why did they need an Osprey that is way to many things polluting the air😡
That’s just for the little people. These people always go to their climate crisis conferences in their many, many private jets. It’s the height of hypocrisy.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the "Air Force One" designation only applies if (the current) POTUS is onboard. Otherwise it's something like "SAM 29000"

And if the President is aboard any other plane, THAT aircraft is designated as "Air Force One" unless it belongs to another branch of the armed forces....i.e. when GW Bush flew out to the USS Lincoln for the infamous "Mission Accomplished" speech, he flew on an S-3 Viking, and that jet carried the designation of "Navy One."
@@njwebwiz .....that's my whole point...for it to be "Air Force One" the current President has to be on board......So, I'll guess first. I'm guessing PELOSI (the REAL President since 2020) was on board! 😁
Even if that's true, that's $1.6M in salary. Compared to the $141M on 300 trips to his golf courses and his "declassified document facility" in Palm Beach FL. Good try tho.
