love the videos. Just a quick question about spotify playlist or any widget or youtube video you add to your dashboard. Once you click on any link or page and it opens.. that widget or link stops playing the music right? any way around that so that the music is playing while you are working and creating? thanks :)

Thanks a lot for this detailed Notion video. I am inspired to give Notion another try. I tried in around 2020 but found it too overwhelming to proceed. Also, happy to see Tim Ferriss's recommended Gratitude Journal, I have been using that as well (trying hard to get regular with it).

It certainly can feel overwhelming at times to me too, which is sometimes when I’ll dial it back to using a simple checklist in Notion rather than a giant database. I use it for work but do prefer the software for personal purposes like journaling and recipe organization. Tim Ferriss is awesome. Glad you enjoyed! 🙌🏼

Hey! Thanks for sharing, it was very useful indeed. I’m hesitant if to use Notion or stick to apple ecosystem which is more simple. I feel filling all the fields in your notion takes a lot of time and needs a lot of effort and may be confusing. Why did you use notion in particular if apple notes for example can do everything especially for journaling lets say

Hi Abdullah - great question. For me, I wanted to use a software that had everything in one place that was also customizable in terms of the different ways I could view that information. I can open my Notion dashboard and access everything from to-dos to cost spreadsheets, to tax records, to visual inspiration boards. It's definitely a lot of up-front work (which is why I provide templates) but once the info is in there, it's pretty simple to use. And if I'm being honest, I wanted something that was also pleasing to look at -- which I feel Notion accomplishes beautifully! I used Apple Notes years back, and previously was using Evernote and Trello, but in my view they don't compare to the limitless customizability of Notion. But I will say if I ever want to jot something simple down, I 100% still use Notes for that purpose and bring it over to Notion later :)

The 'Scheduled Date' on the Recipes page.... Does that populate somewhere, or what is the reason for adding the date? I'm completely new to notion!

Great question! I have a calendar view on my recipe database that shows what recipes I've scheduled for the week. You can easily set up a calendar view of your recipe list that will show recipes that have been assigned a date. Usually once the week is finished and I'm done making my recipes for the week, I'll clear the date entirely so I can start fresh the following week and re-assign a new date for that particular recipe. Hope that helps!

Hey there 😌 You can simply embed it using a link to the specific calendar you want. On the calendar you want to share, click on Settings + Sharing, and copy-paste the embed code provided. As a heads up, there are some limitations: you can only add one Google calendar and not multiple, and it's a 1-way sync only, meaning you can't edit your calendar in Notion. BUT Notion announced last month that they're launching a direct integration with Google Calendar later this year, so this will hopefully address some of these issues!

I don't wanna believe that you give away the template for FREE! I'm a Jules fan as well. After watching her 2023 goal & plan video. I tried to recreate it on Notion but found out it's too complicated for me lol. Then I found your blog and your channel here. This is such a lifesaver! I used a Google Calendar widget in Indify! Go to indify.co and you'll be able to create and embed your own custom widgets.

Hey i wanna say love your set up/aesthetic but be careful with your taxes and medical info on Notion! Notion isn’t “secure” if you don’t want to share because it’s private on the internet, then I wouldn’t put it on Notion :(

This is such a good footnote, thanks for pointing it out. Notion doesn't do end-to-end encryption for data storage which means that Notion admins can access your information (with your explicit permission say, in cases where you need tech support). Ultimately. it's up to you whether you want to store sensitive medical / tax / personal information on Notion. I learned about the encryption rules after making this video, and have since removed my more sensitive information from my Notion!
