😍Trading The Rivian R1S 4 The Hummer EV SUV? 

Which do you believe is the better electric off-road SUV the Hummer EV SUV or the Rivian R1S? Comment and share your thoughts.

If I was spending 100K on an suv/truck, it would be the Hummer.

Since I can’t get wifey out of our R1T, I’m looking to get a Hummer EV SUV. That said I got one major issue with the Hummer…OTA updates…. Unless/until GM starts delivering meaningful OTA updates, I’m going to be skeptical.

Test drove this last week, and its a must buy for me. I mean "lease". I went to see one in person and its more than I thought. It looks better in-person than pictures or video. I wouldnt buy one tho. Lease by far is the best way to go. The technology in this vehicle is something you do not want to be responsible for after u done payin for it. It will be expensive to repair, and no mechanic outside of GM is going to be able to work on it. The tech in this vehicle is off the charts. Yes its eye-poping, but yet something u dont want to ever own outside of its warranty.

I drove one at an EV event in Cincinnati and I LOVED IT! The price they were asking was up there so that ended things for me! LOL!

Nice video. Would not buy .... maybe lease but NOT BUY. You can wait 3 years and pick one up for under $40k. GM doesn't know how to make EV's efficient so they throw the kitchen sink into a vehicle and the biggest battery ever. I would keep your Rivian. Oh and those tops WILL LEAK!!!

The Hummer EV looks nice but is insanely heavy. The range is nothing spectatular. The Rivian is FAR nicier IMO.

Rivian over the hummer EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve seen two separate reviews where the Hummer broke down. Rivian is superior 👍🏽👍🏽

I think the R1S is a way better all around vehicle, better handling on and off road, quad motor R1S is faster and Rivian has better software by far. Also GM may be out of business in a few years if they do not start executing better with EV's. 🙂

This is a very interesting comparison between the R1S and the Hummer EV--I LOVE Rivian and everything the company stands for (I put $100 up to secure my place in line for a R2), and I think if it was between a Gen 2 R1S and the Hummer, I'd take the R1S. Reasons: first, the Hummer EV is a gigantic vehicle (saw one out here in the Phoenix area not long ago), and although the R1S is also a big vehicle, I think I'd enjoy driving something a bit sleeker. Also, the Rivian has been designed from the ground up to always be an EV, and GM is coming from an ICE background and now is making EVs, so I don't know much about their technology, but I know Rivian's is good and will only keep improving (it's why VW signed the joint venture agreement with them for $5 billion after all, just to get Rivian's technology architecture). I will say the Hummer looks pretty darn cool in that orange color. Just not sure I'd want to try parking that thing in a crowded Costco parking lot, though! I look forward to hearing your decision!

300 mile range with 200kwh battery? How’s software support? Does it have a third row? Many dealerships are not gonna know anything about that car. No thanks

I would rather have the Truck version. But for the same price give me the SIERRA EV DENALI way more range

You only live once, experience as much as you can while here. The the hummer is nice but I would have concerns with the UI and navigation in Chevys. How did it look to you? Plan on your own power plant to recharge that battey😅. I like the Silverados that I have seen too

Drove the 25 R1S Tri and the 25 Hummer SUV 2x back to back, the Hummer is an EVENT. The second that top comes off it is a full on open air charmer. I don't care for the 0-60 times anymore, they all are quick enough for the tanks these new EV suv's are, with that said I like the tailgate of the R1S, the steering and suspension updates are nice, but the Hummer is just so much cooler and feels more dialed in every respect.

Looks amazing but I feel like I'm seeing it through my eyes when I was 30 years younger. 50% heavier than the R1S. I think at this point if you are really interested in it from what I read there are a lot of those Hummers on lots across the US that are not selling. I think there will be a fire sale on these as time goes on and the depreciation on them is going to be greater than on the new Rivians. One other issue is that the message back in the Hummer H2 days (which I owned) was inefficiency and who cares about fuel use it all 9MPG. Got a lot of hate having that vehicle back then. Even though this one is an EV, it still comes from the consumer Hummer from the 2000s screams inefficiency. Summary: Hummer is "bad-ass", Rivian is "sexy" lol. Great video btw. Wouldn’t buy nothing from this dealer. Sales people need to learn to get the hell out the way. They should know and have the feeling who buying and not buying

Pros: 1) looks great 2) big af 3) tows 10K 4) removable tops 5) full size spare!!! Cons: 1) Very inefficient 2) big af 3) hummer brand still has a slightly negative connotation. I can’t comment on the software because I haven’t used it. I can only speculate that Rivians operating system and user interface is going to be better. But… does Hummer have Apple CarPlay? If yes, then hmmm. Very interesting :)

As a Rivian R1T owner, I would stick with the Rivian. I like the looks of the Hummer EV SUV MUCH better than their truck, but I think the Rivian will continue to stay fresh with OTA updates. It really comes down to what you like better. It’s a good looking machine IMO, but I feel like you’ll get way more negative attention driving that thing around, especially in orange. 😂 Either way, it’s a fun first world problem choosing between the two! 😉 Good luck.

If Hummer had a 3rd row a bit more ceiling height to the cargo space, it would be worth considering. As an off roader, there’s pluses and minuses…. The issue is width with most trails really carved out for Jeeps and 4Runner platforms, there will be trails that it’s simply too wide to navigate. Doug DeMuro (and many others) reviewed both in detail and put the Rivian on top for various reasons.

I like it! I don't know why Chevrolet didn't put the same battery in the Hummer EV as they did in their EV Silerado? The EV Siverado has a legitimate range of 450 miles. I wonder how good this EV is off road?

I like the Hummer suv but I hate the truck. I’ve driven them both.

I was really considering this over the Rivian, R1 S, but I watched a couple videos about the hummer SUV it says that the removable roof rattles to much And I would like it if you can test it out to see if it rattles a lot when you’re not playing music or talking to anyone just as quiet drive. for a vehicle that over 95,000 I do not want to hear too much or no rattles and creeks😅

I like it but I don't $100K+ like it. Also, the exterior design really hurts the range. The Silverado EV is on the same platform but can get over 400miles of real world range. I'll keep my R1T. 😉

I've seen a few of those on the road. Nothing yells small "ego" more than a Hummer

Awesome vehicle.. but im just curious why would you never go back to a gas vehicle or rather have a gas vehicle as an alternative in the house . I have one electric and ice at home
