Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome is pain in the jaw joint that can be caused by a variety of medical problems. The TMJ connects the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull (temporal bone) in front of the ear. Certain facial muscles that control chewing are also attached to the lower jaw. Problems in this area can cause head and neck pain, tinnitus, vertigo, facial pain, ear pain, headaches, a jaw that is locked in position or difficult to open, problems with biting, and jaw clicking or popping sounds when you bite.
Kindly share this video on your social media so we can help educate others. Wishing you and your family many Blessings! ❤️😊🙏 Dr M

Thank you Dr Mandell I suffer from ringing in my ears over five years now. It became worse over the last year or two and after doing your exercises I can honestly say it’s now 80% less than it was I didn’t realise that my jaw was causing this problem and also noticed that when I opened my mouth my jaw was going to the left which side my problem was. Doing your exercises daily I have been able to get my jaw in a better position and releases my headaches and my ringing in the ears I’m very grateful for your video also love the fact that your videos are very informative and not too long. Again many thanks 😀

Thank you Doc for this info. Great as usual. I did this just now while watching (with the best of posture positions, of course), a d felt immediate relief. And I only did them 6 x. Not the 12x you i dictated. The push i to the cheek was especially helpful. I waz gri di g my teeth for years. Just started using dentist presribed mouth guard. But the exercises here seemed to release the tension I have in the temporal area.. to the top of my head. I also suffer with many cervical spine issues which contribute to the overall health conditions. The Spine is Everything by affecting your ce tral nervous system. Thx again Dr. Mandell.

Hi Doc ~ I can't begin to tell you what I've been through in my 9 decades on this planet! I have NO condial on the right side. I've spent literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in hopes of finding some kind of relief! I even had a Herbst appliance (which I "not-so-lovingly" referred to as "Her Beast"!) for about 2 years! NO fun! I've been to EVERY kind of doctor/dentist/chiropractor w/o the Mississippi ~ well, almost! To top it off, I was in a terrible car accident at the age of 7 in which I lost my upper two front teeth. I got my first flipper at the age of 12, and had to be fitted with a new one every 6 months as I was growing. We won't go into THAT! I'm one of the few who have received Disability Income due to my TMJ. I love you ~ but, truly, I do NOT know what more I can do! I wouldn't wish what I've suffered on ANYONE!

I am convinced so many of the vestibular diagnosed syndromes such as Ménières, vestibular migraines, Bppv, PPPD are actually due to TMJD/ jaw issues and the severe effects on the surrounding muscles,tendons,ligaments ,and fascia. Great video!

Did you ever cure your problem? I have ear pain and dizziness everyday and I think it might also be TMJ related.
@sukie584
@sukie584 3 года назад
@@TerabyteHero I won’t say cured because I still do exercises most days to keep the muscles from going into spasm. But yes, May is 4 years with no vertigo, dizziness or disequilibrium or any of the other mixers symptoms except for low tinnitus. But most dentists aren’t trained correctly for these types of TMJD symptoms. You really have to do legwork to find a properly trained one. They need a lot of post dental school education, and understand how to use a correctly made adjustable oral appliance ( NOT a nightguard!). There are groups on Facebook who track dentists and physical therapists who have helped. Do a search for the “Menieres, vertigo,tinnitus tmj”, group. Good luck!

@sukie584
@sukie584 3 года назад
@@TerabyteHero if TMJD is at the root of the symptoms, then exercises without treatment may not help and could set off symptoms, because we’re reactive. However, Motivational Doc has great exercises that address the muscles. Search for Sternocleidomastoid (SCM), Traps, scalenes, mastoid, occipitals, , and also stretching the below the front of the neck above the breast. There is also a great exercise called Genie Magic. Search for that. The woman has a stand alone video and one called a Mini class. Look for the mini class. It includes the Genie Magic exercise and others that are helpful. Just start with one and go very very slowly. Also do smaller movements while symptomatic. We are very reactive. Good luck!

you need a properly made night guard. it won't stop you from bruxing but will allow more freedom of movement and therefore less muscle isometric exercising. most of the damage occurs at night, when you have no control over the clenching/grinding forces that occur. waking in the morning with headaches is pathognomonic for nocturnal bruxism.

@@boxsterbenz4059 One that is 3d molded from an impression of your teeth? My dentist wants $1400 and I inspected the thing and got that it was 2mm thick and made in house. I have found online places that do the same procedure in impression and manufacturing for 1/10th of the price. Is this something you may recommend? It looks to be the exact thing the dentist was going to make for me. Same BPA free material. Soft inside, hard exterior and it "snaps" on the teeth, not covering the gums.

I believe most cases of TMD comes from cleching and grinding while sleeping and I believe that most Cases of clenching and grinding during sleep comes from some level of obstructive sleep apnea. We need to find where the obstruction is whether its nasal soft papate or tongue and fix it. I believe that if one has a patent airway during sleep then they are less likely to clench and grind. This should be your goal! And this should relieve the spasm! Then you don't have to relaese any muscle spasms cause basically you don't have any
