This was so heart wrenching, that if she hadn't posted it herself, I would feel like I was intruding into her private space. A place where only family and closest friends belong. When she sang "Grandpa, I'm so sorry I was so blind" it hit me really hard. It looked like Ivan was deeply affected too.
This song was a tribute to her grandpa on her father's side when she was 12. Her grandfather passed away in 2018, just before Angelina's family moved to the USA. As long as you see Ivan Mendez on the guitar, it means she's in the US. Million Miles came up when she lost her second grandfather a year later I believe. So "Always on my mind" was meant as a tribute to her father's father.
I flew in from Missouri yesterday and am patiently waiting to see Angelina jordan at 7 o'clock show at the international Westgate theater in Vegas tonight.

AJ is known to Emotionally Connect her audience to Any cover she sings paying homage to the original artist. Respect. This one was for her OTHER grandpa who passed not too long before the one for whom she wrote "Million Miles". You can see that she's a lttle bit younger here. I kind of remember that someone noted that this was recorded very shortly after her grandpa's funeral. All the very best to you from Germany

This is truly a great performance to watch......but let me suggest "You Say" as one that I feel tops this one at about this age. Then she does "You Say" at an older age also. She sings those Elvis Presley songs and is able to carry those very low notes clearly.
Even with everything I know about her, I'm still kind of amazed that she actually allowed this to be posted. Most 12-year-olds would nix that idea in no uncertain terms. They would be like, well, I tried. It didn't work out. Maybe we'll try again later. (Actually, I think she did try again later. Her cover of "Happier" [also found on her CoverChannel] appears to be another tribute to her late grandfather - and presumably other lost loved ones, judging by the pictures on the wall behind her - but whatever she said before she started singing was cut off before it was posted. You can hear the fading reverberations of the last word she spoke at the very beginning of the video. Based on what Ivan [the guitarist] has said about their collaboration, it seems fairly obvious that it was posted long after it was actually recorded. But whether it was recorded close in time to this tribute you just reacted to is not known.)
Angelina experienced the deaths of two grandfathers about 20 months apart. This was the first, and I think maybe the one she was less close to. Which, if true, makes the song choice that much more poignant. (BTW, this was also quite soon after she moved across an ocean, away from all her friends in Norway. I'm not sure how many family members came with her and how many joined her later, so she might have also been apart from other close family members at this particular time. In any case, it must have been a very difficult time for her.)
