A journey I've made countless times in the past 13 years and know really well. The hardest one is taking this route when it's the going home journey after spending a week (sometimes more!) on the RhB. The restaurant at Sargans station is well frequented by us on a Wednesday, as the hotel we stay at (Grischuna, Filisur) shuts up it's restaurant on a Wednesday (apart from full-board guests). Love your videos, Kind Regards from fellow railway worker over here in the UK (I'm a Signalman)
Great photography. Best in the business. No distortion or vibration at speed. You usually pick the best time of day to avoid sun glare, and the routes you film are the most scenic. Information is very helpful. Many thanks for all your videos.
Hundreds of years ago when I was 15 my High School organised a trip to Arosa from the UK. It was my second time in Switzerland, the year before having gone to Engelberg also with my school. I have yet to recover from how beautiful it was. I learned a little about skiing and as I remember it, spent a lot of time gawking at the mountains. It was wonderful. Thanks again for the marvellous and straight forward videos. Happy New Year and please have many safe journeys.
Thanks for this ride. It gave me my first looks at the incredible seven peaks of the Churfirsten Chain that lead to an hour of internet and RU-vid searches to further enhance my knowledge. Remarkably, I found one RU-vid video of a pair of German mountaineers climbing all 7 peaks in one day. The views from the tops were enchanting.
They do look absolutely great and that is why I put them in the thumbnail, too ;) I always enjoy the sight onto the Churfirsten from the tracks and even more the view from the top of them.
frank key I do that as well Frank these train journey vids give me inspiration to travel area I have never been to and endless map, trip advisor and google searches!
I can't understand why anyone would give this video a "thumbs-down"... It is clear to me that there are some people who just don't like themselves!!! SMH! Great train journey and thanks for posting!
I've had the pleasure of doing this journey, but 7 years ago now so it was nice to revisit it. Love the section alongside the Walensee, always felt it was like the West Highland Line on steroids.
That was a really great cab ride enabling me as an almost house bound person to see places I never thought to visit again. My thanks to Railway Emotions for providing this video.
Such a beautiful, gorgeous country. Love those mountains and quiet dairy farms along this very scenic train route. Thank you for the video. Mucho appreciated.....
Hello, 🤗 This is your third movie that I watched. All were great 🤩👏👍. Both technically and touring, although to ruin such a film in Switzerland, you have to try a bit 😉. I have two questions: 1.) Is left-hand traffic on the Swiss railways? 2.) Have you thought about making #cabride movie from the most famous Swiss expres: Glacier and Bernina? It could be hits ...🤔 Ggreetings from Warsaw 🧜♀️😃.
And when this line was still called the RE not the IR35, not bad though. And for the most part things have returned to normal, minus the few old people wearing masks
Habe wieder was dazu gelernt. Und Schöne Grüße aus Franken in die Schweiz.
Are the DB ICE1 trains regular service trains to Chur or weekend specials? Good to see so much freight, previous videos of this route (by others)have been without any freight. Do you know if the Graubunden COOP have delivery of RhB size and ISO shipping containers by rail? If so where are they trans shipped between rail systems? I have seen on video a train at Olten with RhB size and plain white ISO containers heading north through the station. I have seen many RhB videos with the COOP containers but not where they are loaded onto the RhB system vehicles. Very good video, only one bug, it went splat on the window.
The ICE is a regular every day service, going to Interlaken Ost, Basel and Chur and from there into Germany. Good question about the RhB container sizes and the delivery. RhB loads and unloads containers from our 1435mm network to theirs in Landquart (where both systems touch). Also they are capable of loading and unloading trucks. They use standard ISO containers with twist lock, but they're shorter in length than a standard 40ft sea container of course.
You're not the only one saying this and while I appreciate that Stadler does their work quite good and mostly delivers on time, I am not entirely sure if they would've been faster. It's not only Bombardiers fault, the story starts a long time ago and the train's life has seen lawsuits before it was even born. All this doesn't help to deliver on time.
I wish Australia was as beautiful as Switzerland-so many mountains and so much green everywhere. Do you ever get rostered to drive from Zürich to St Gallen or north-eastern Switzerland?
I do, but I wasn't able to film the last few times I was there. Either it was dark or I had no time to install the camera and clean the windscreen. Whenever I get there during daylight, I will film of course.
You will find the mail address in the "about" tab on my RU-vid channel. If you have generic questions, feel free to ask them in the comment section, so everybody can see them.
Please never cut the video and thus shorten the waiting times at the train stations. This is bad. Because the waiting times at the train stations are part of the journey and must not be shortened. After a long journey, the eye sometimes needs a break, and those are the longer breaks at the train stations.
