It was the USA Basketball National team selection committee who chose the 2024 roster and the basketball board of directors approved it. It’s more than just the WNBA who has issue with CC 22. Now they can all have a problem with us.
If you pay close attention, the stands are fairly empty, even in soccer games when the French aren't playing. I would guess that the prices of tickets make choosing which games you attend more significant. Team USA is going to win anyway, so why pay the big $$. The CC effect is primarily a YT America fantasy, and most of the world ain't yt!
True, most of them were complicit. Name one member of team USA that spoke out in support of CC. Arike declined to be on Team USA because of the snubbing. What bravery, incredible class and a true inspiration. I do care about her feelings, she is a shining star and showed it before and after the All-Star game.
She started off as a superstar that brought attention to the game which was helping to also bring attention to other players. WNBA idioacy has turned her into a martyr and now they can't take it back... They created their own Karma right there. 😊
@@milpaswell, some are over the top, to the point of boycotting the Olympics. That's beyond just being a fan. I'm not making a judgment either way. I'm just laughing at the self-created situation. The more they fight against her, the more they hurt themselves.
@@katherinehall1547 have you seen CC against those tall WNBA players ? She smokes them at will. CC is comparatively shorter especially to that dude Brit Griner.
I have 2 friends that went to Paris to watch the Olympics. They told me the talk of the town was how CC got snubbed, and how team USA has a dude (Griner) playing for them. I have to agree, both are a turn off.
Griner's video shooting hoops in the yard with no shirt on is proof its a dude. You can look at his chest and tell. Also how many women have you ever seen in your life shooting hoops with no shirt on with a guy playing with her. lol
@@wingman416 that’s a long flight for good cuisine. Plenty of five star cuisine right here in the USA. New Orleans, Boston, Vegas, Seattle , Nashville, Chicago, New York .now, a lot of them are liberal cesspools however they can be navigated as I have done. I can eat and not have a wiener in my face while trying to enjoy it.
@@lovemytide45 None of my friends had to eat with a wiener in their face or they would have mentioned the free entertainment. They are women by the way, cat loving single women with an itch to scratch...MEOW!
Several of the players are risking making their current injuries worse. All people involved in making this team will forever be remembered as epic failures
@@JE-IC to the casual American and themselves will look at it as a success but die hard basketball won’t care because gold is a slam dunk. Real basketball fans want entertained and want to see the sport grow. There will never be a better time
First off, 2.8 mil for the men's game is pathetic, but watching the geezers is boring so that explains those low numbers. Second, CC would have gotten more than 2.8 to the women's game all by herself. Third, is it really a "boycott" of the women's game? Seriously, what were the viewing numbers for the women's game in the last Olympics? If the numbers back then were comparative to the current 177k, then maybe there is no "boycott", there is just nobody who wants to watch a boring presentation four years later either. People have to remember that CC is not yet the "best" player in the WNBA. But Clark is 100% the most exciting player in the WNBA. When she takes off down the court, it's just enthralling anticipation waiting to see what she is going to do. I'm personally glad she didn't go to the Olympics this season as she DESPARATELY needed some time off. But without her at the Olympics, there are no sprinkles on the ice cream cone!
I've been watching Olympic coverage pretty much non-stop, EXCEPT when the USA women's basketball team is playing - when they come on, I switch the channel, or turn off the TV. I refuse to watch them without Caitlin!
This is the usa "true value" brand of bball. Tickets becoming cheaper as we speak and i heard the doing bogo now. Gold medal goes to japan fan w cc sign...ty brother! 🏆 u were holding the sign we all wanted to hold.
USA women playing Japan was a joke.... like high school girls playing elementary girls.... WNBA women are missing the point without CC you are nothing...
Reeve insulted all the fans, complaining about CC is filling the stadium & they want those kind of fans! The same as scene in Pretty Woman’s boutique scene . . . Our money is not good enough for Reeve, Sides & every other coach & player from WNBA that have hated on & attacked CC!! Just not too bright🤷🏻♂️🤷🏾🤷🏻♂️
Check out this story: Ironically, I did work for the (formerly) Charlotte Bobcats. There was a part-time usher who sold shoes for his primary job. He was talking to me and he said: "Marketing is simple. Ask them what they want, and then give that to them!" Point? The collective intelligence of the entire WNBA management is less intelligent than a shoe salesman! (He was a smart dude, but still...............!)
The boycott is working. The single most disgusting person in all of this is DT, she wanted to keep CC off the team because she knows that if CC played in this Olympics, she’d have a good chance of making or breaking DT’s gold medal record. Causing CC to not be in the Olympics this year, means CC is unlikely to be able to beat DT’s record of having six gold medals. So despite being way too old, far too slow, and recently injured, DT is on that team so CC can’t eventually break her gold medal record. What DT doesn’t realize though, is she is never going to live this down. This will forever be part of her story in the WNBA, that she is a bitter, selfish, little person.
CJ......................YOU NAILED IT. Taurasi's "political" motivation for keeping Clark off of the Olympic team was EXACTLY WHAT YOU DESCRIBED. Keep Clark off this Olympic team and Clark can only tie Taurasi's record if Caitlin plays till she's 50 years old and she can't break Taurasi's record unless she plays till she's 54 years old, which neither will happen. They should have let the younger players participate. The true elders should have gracefully stepped aside to allow that to happen. And in all fairness, I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY ABOUT ALL THE NBA GEEZERS TAKING UP ALL THE OLYMPIC SLOTS ON THE MEN'S SIDE. I'm a geezer myself, but it's time for the new generation to make their mark, and the geezers hanging on both sides of the men's and women's teams is truly classless.
You guys are so wrong, there was seven people in the whole auditorium watching. It was me, my cousin, and 5 lose tourist who was there watching the woman play.
That's how we do it guys let's boycott the USA basketball team like we said we was going to do proud of all the Caitlin Clark fans and just WNBA fans that know that Coach Reeves and the WNBA committee was wrong
Not to mention, it's not fair. We have a man on our team and everyone knows it. It's embarrassing. Get the damn man off of our team. We don't need him. It's BS.
If true which I’ve seen Griner with its shirt off. Bare Chester looks and speaks like a man. They will lose all gold medals ever won and USA basketball would be the biggest disgrace!
I’m from the far east. Trust, the guy with the sign knows his team isn’t winning. That wasn’t his point. His point is women’s basketball lost no matter what
Wow, I guess we all live with our decision. The style of play from our Olympic team is so outdated, slow, and predictable. It's actually painful to watch. We had an opportunity to charge all of women's basketball across the entire world, and we blew it. We also took our B team instead of our A team. Nothing like doubling down on slow, boring, and unimaginable simply because of fragile egos and false pride.
The CC effect is real. Look how many all star votes her teammates (Boston, Mitchell) got compared to the previous year. They watched CC but they also saw Boston and Mitchell because they are on the floor as well. The same principle would have applied at the Olympics, people would have watched CC and seen Wilson, Stewart, Plum, etc. More exposure for the W which would have led to more revenue from advertising. But these heifers don't understand that, they only care about themselves not the W.
You guys are scaring me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm usually on here bashing people for being really STUPID. But there are several insightful comments on this thread. Keep up the good work. You nailed it perfectly! Wilson and Plum should be down on their knees thanking CC for opening up the "doors of endorsement" which were formerly closed prior to Caitlin. Aja and Kelsey were always terrific players, but until CC opened the door for massive viewers, nobody saw them and nobody cared about them from a marketing perspective.
Yes even angel! You can't deny the intensity angel, Caitlin and Arike bring! And this is the biggest show on the planet! Let these women show the world how it's played
The people went to other events because they want to see the stars, rather than the same elongated goons we've been sending every four years. The players should not have lifetime appointments.
The WNBA talent is so deep that team USA should have been made up of players that haven’t been in the Olympics. If it’s not going to be competitive, why watch?😮
@@TalkMMADizz Exactly. The "Dream Team" doesn't care about the entertainment value of the game, nor do they care about the fans. To them, the Olympics is just another marketing gimmick.
I do think that people did care, but they repelled a lot of fans with poor behavior by the coach and some of the players. I do feel bad for the players who stayed out of The fray, and are caught in the middle. It's not their fault.
I have spent so much time watching the Olympics and can honestly say that I did not watch the Women’s USA Team nor do I intend to watch them play going forward. I totally understand that they feel underpaid and not appreciated, if that’s the case, then they should all be smart enough to understand that Clark creates attendance and attendance creates money! Clark is their ticket to everything that they are wanting and yet they reject it because of jealousy and personal egos!
They are not "underpaid". Their league has lost MASSIVE MONEY EVERY SINGLE YEAR OF THEIR EXISTENCE. If they weren't subsidized by the NBA (when George Shinn moved the Charlotte Hornets to New Orleans, he LITERALLY left the Charlotte WNBA team behind!) and true economic forces were in action, THESE PLAYERS WOULD HAVE TO HAVE PAID THE WNBA TO REIMBURSE THE TEAM FOR ALL THOSE TENS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN LOSSES IN THEIR THIRTY SEASONS! (The CAPS are not me yelling, but me laughing at the absurdity of the claims of these players!)
The USA team is struggling. The japan team that averaged 5' something gave the USA team, 6' plus a run for their money. And Belgium only lost by 2 points in the last 4 seconds.
Disrespecting these women for clicks? Smh. I am not talking about reporting low attendance. It's the other disparaging remarks that are unnecessary. It is not these women (who will secure a great Olympic legacy for themselves and the USA) that should be ashamed or embarrassed, but those who seek elevation by minimizing their hard work, sacrifice, and skill.
I don't watch the WNBA I only watch Caitlin. If she is not playing, I'm not watching. I've never watched an NBA game, as I'm an old bloke nearly 80 from Australia, but when I found out about a brilliant athlete that everyone hated....I thought I'd find out about her and "Boom" I was hooked watching her 3 pointers from halfway! 👍👍👍😁
Clark is SO good, ALL other women players are jealous and hate her, which formed enemy situation. US Olympic Basketball committee decided to put all enemies together, they could play with good “chemistry” & won the gold medal.
Agreed. Thanks for not (never?) using expletives in your videos. Also, Black and White Sport and a couple others I think do not. This way, I can confidentially look at your videos and feel safe knowing others around would not hear any bad words coming from my computer. Otherwise I would have to limit. I miss seeing The G.O.A.T Caitlin T1000 Clark playing...do I really need to go back and watch the all star game for the 3rd time again??
The NBA should come together during the next CBA and cut the WNBA's water off. There's no point in continuously funding their league if they aren't serious about growing the sport. Team USA could have left their two best players off the team, and they would have still been the prohibitive favorites by a wide margin. The decision to leave CC off the team was personal and bad for the game overall.
I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING. USA Womens basketball and WBNA in general is just boring. Its layup and 3 and layup. CC brings those crazy dimes, step backs and crazy range. But they wanna hate
It’s like an elementary school basketball game. You don’t know who was on the team before you got there you don’t know who will be on the team after you leave because it’s an elementary school basketball game. Nobody cares if your child or Relative is not going to play on that team You don’t pay attention to it if your child or Relative is playing you’ll go see it because it’s your loved one, but you don’t care about the team or the people or the record or anything else you don’t care about them, but without your loved one it’s just not relative to your life. It’s poor basketball being played by people. You don’t know anything about if your loved one plays you’ll go watch it.
In the game with Japan, did you notice the easy layup misses? They are awful. They win because they are so much taller and bigger than the opposing team. They get so many second and third chances because of their size.
Nobody cares about them getting their umpteenth gold medal. We said that when they left CC Off the roster and we meant it. Nobody is concerned they will lose to Puerto Rico, Japan, Serbia or whatever second rate bb squad they throw at them. So freaking boring, We wanted the world to see Caitlin Clark and some of the other rookies lighting up the court for team USA. We wanted to watch amazing woman’s basketball but the lousy USA women’s national Olympic selection committee…left “amazing” home back in the states. One of the worst decisions in sports history period. No way is anyone watching this snore fest.
They pissed off all the fans that used to watch. Cc raised th bar so now the old fans aren’t watching. They know what they are missing. Cc continence to live rent feee in their heads even when she’s nowheee near.

Right now the world is not on board with the W's position on trans athletes. The Olympics Committee has already made decisions along these lines for some of the other sporting competitions. They also have a strong position on the use of steroids. The W has multiple players undergoing transition therapy, players that have had chest argumentation surgery, and questions around Griner. This might not be just the CC effect. Hormone therapy puts steroids in the system. Under normal circumstances this is a no go with the only exception being medical treatment. As a lot of treatments use either topical, injected, or ingested forms of steroids. The hormone therapy falls under the medical exemption loosely. So they have been on the fence about. Other countries are not and view it as cheating. Now as far as I know griner is special case that has yet to be fully clarified to the public. Whether she is a male to female trans athlete or a woman electing to undergo hormone therapy she falls under in the Gray area of recent rulings. I don't believe that there are any others on the team that fit this circumstance. The combination of the bad press around the CC snub and Griner are impacting how the team is being perceived. So while most of us who watch the W don't think anything about it and just view Griner as we would any other player, we can't expect the rest of the world to feel the same during an event that is supposed to be a celebration of woman in sports from their perspective.
