Christie Sides is trying to run a phoenix suns, sacromento kings or La clippers fast break team this never works out. Sides keeps thinking all this run and gun works. Sides needs to go. No defense and CC averages 3 blocks a game as a guard. The girls seem to be running this weak picks at the top of the key. Doesn't look like the coach asks for a soft screen.
Not sure about her coaching skills, but she does not have good skills in management. When there are issues, she is not the solution, but she is a problem, because she lacks basic management skills
Coach Sides isn't a people person coach, She's only out for herself and not for the team in general. Coach Sides should be dismissed from her head coach duties.

Clark had 30 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds while being aggressively defended and getting clocked for 2 turnovers bc teammates failed to get the pass. CC also had 3 blocks and 3 steals. And to all of that play Sides makes a comment about how Clark needed to get points so she could feel good? Meanwhile, Sides preferred player Wheeler offered nothing, Smith offered nothing, Mitchell selfishly takes over and misses too many shots, Berger rides the bench… WTF?

It's a team game. That being said the Fever were a winning and points scoring machine last season. They were a championship caliber team. Now that Captain turnover has joined them they only have 1 win. If CC wasn't on the Fever they'd probably be undefeated and blowing out their opponents. I think the rest of the league some 143 player's have committed 0 turnover's as of today. That's why the rest of the league's teams are all doing so well. Their all playing dominant basketball.
When her team mates can't catch the ball, or make a lay up, or won't pass the ball back to you when your open then this will continue to be a losing team and also as long as Sides is the coach!!! Mitchell and Wheeler want to be a one women team and won't pass the ball, just force a terrible shot up and hope it goes in!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't even fathom why when Mitchell was the only one in front court and instead of laying it up she bobbled the ball and ran to the sidelines. Still had an open shot or a layout at that point but just waited for the defense to get ahead of her. I never even saw that in my 7 year old's junior league. They know you're supposed to put the ball in the basket.

why does this coach have CC playing with Kelsey Mitchell? Kelsey is a ball hog and tonight missed her first four lay ups...LAY UPS! a good coach would try something different. a good coach would have some plays to screen for CC and then she can shoot more three pointers.

@@raymondroberts2054 Hand checking is not banned in the same way it is in the NBA. You have to have clear evidence that the hand is impeding the movement of the offensive player for it to be called. This makes WNBA defense a bit more like 90s or early 2000s NBA defense where the defense was allowed enough physicality to even the playing field a bit. It's better this way IMO because in the NBA the offensive player has almost all of the power.

They shouldn't be happy about it at all. At some point, they need to turn the corner as a team. 3 of the last 4 losses were winnable games. The bottom line is they should've won this game. Too many turnovers, too many threes given up, too many missed open shots, sitting your best player for nearly half the third quarter has also contributed to this loss, and too many fouls. Los Angeles didn't outplay them tonight. They beat themselves.
Unfortunately CC has been put in an impossible situation. She is better than her teammates but she is playing against Grown Ass Women who are bigger stronger and more experienced than her. She not only put up 30 but she paid good defense tonight. But her team sucks. I don't know how long her contract is, but when it is up she needs to pull a LeBron and take her talents elsewhere.
I think she needs to focus on her passing skills. She sees the entire court before everyone else does. Once her teammates catch up, they will be much better. But, she can't play defense which is a big problem.
Interestingly, this team was more competitive last year without Clark. What that tells me is that adjusting to playing with her is a big part of their struggles. By bringing in Clark it kind of feels like they are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
In reality, yesterday’s - Chicago Sky victory over our Indiana Fever…, is extremely difficult to accept; so, “ To the Victor belong the spoils…” The Fever must write this game off…. as a bad caste of not staying the course, staying focus and finishing off the Sky at the end of the third quarter. The fever must stay together…, it’s only one game. I’m a true Caitlin Clark fan…, but I’m also a fan of all her teammates as well. The Indiana fever can win a championship with this team. Remember when you’re winning and everything is clicking on all cylinders you don’t see some of your flaws…., but they were there last week and before, but most didn’t see them…, because the Fever was playing to everybody’s liking, and they were on a winning streak. I guess mistakes are OK when you’re winning. Also, it’s hard for me to believe that you can put any blame on Christie Sides…, sure you can say she didn’t have the right players in the game, she didn’t draw up the right plays and she didn’t manage her time out. But, in all actuality - Coaches have a smaller impact on the game…., and players have the larger impact on the game. Meaning, If The Fever had played smarter as a team when they were up at the end of the third quarter…, there’s no questions…., they would’ve won the game. The Fever and all fans and supporters…, must except defeat, as they would except victory! Most important, The Fever must focus on improvement of their individual game as well as their team game. The Fever…, should embrace this disappointing loss from The Sky…, to ensure that they don’t make the same mistakes in any of their future games. Remember the ultimate goal is to win a championship this year!
Nothing much Good in CC's body language. Don't think she is happy, at all. And she and all the girls on the FEVER gotta be exhausted. The League setting up the schedule like this is insane. They wanted to mik CC's arrival for all its worth, and then when she is when she hits the wall, half way thru the season, the League can dissappear back into its little private Hell Hole, and go back to playing Political Smooze Ball with each other without having to deal with the mainstream public, who looks at the majority of this league's personalities and says, 'Not for my kids, Not for my Daughters'. Dont want my kids growing up with that 'victim' BS. Hell, I dont want my daughter growing up to play BBall. Id like her to do the single most valuable thing she can do in the physical world. Have Children, and help raise them to be respectful, just, intelligent, skillful, and productive (in some way) members of her community. (f'ck society, lets stay 'local')
It's tough for me because I'm from Indiana and am a Fever fan. But man, it really looks like they are not even trying to get her (the refs) any free throws, and I think the players on the other teams are starting to notice this, so they are going to keep hammering her harder and harder until they either hurt her, or she just gives up. Either way, it's not going to be good for the league.
Players standing around being plants in the ground, no screens or blocks to ease the double team against CC, no plays or movement to open up Boston down low, it's all one on one. Plus her players are getting mugged and Sides does nothing. Questionable rotations. So predictable...bring the ball up, play one on one outside or toss it low for one on one inside. Easy to defend...double up CC and mug her, pack the paint and mug Boston. Sides couldn't coach a JV high school team
CC's people need to have a conversation with Fever ownership. Let CC get tossed in couple of nationally televised ESPN games in the first half. ESPN will be on the phone with the league commissioner telling her, if things don't change, they'll reconsider their TV deal.

Coach Sides is not the right person to be the Indiana head coach. The 12 players on the team each have a different role on the team but somehow coach Sides let Wallace be a shooter like she is Clark, Michell, Fagbenle, Smith or Samuelson. Wallace is not a shooter. Wallace is defender. She is suppose to shut down the opposing team’s best shooter. Taylor has the defensive skills to do that and Berger plays solid defense too. The team has the shooters it needs. Wallace does not need to be shooting 3s. Coach Sides should have put Wallace on the bench before she missed 5 of those 3s. Then, the shooters might have made 3 of 5 of those 3s and the game would have been significantly changed. When it comes down to it, coach Sides gave the game away because she got out coached. She should never allow her defender to shoot 4 or 5 too many 3s. Taylor is a decorated defender. Coach Sides should have replaced Wallace with Taylor or Berger so the shooters on the team could have shot those 3s. Wheeler is not facilitating. She is suppose to facilitate the offense. When are we going to see her setup Clark again for another logo 3? The fans love to see Wheeler doing that. Why is coach Sides not telling Wheeler to set Clark, Michell, Samuelson, Smith, and Fagbenle up? Smith and Clark had a good thing going on. Why is Smith not starting? Coach Sides derailed that, why? How many coaching errors need to occur before the owner replaces her? Is the owner watching the games? The fans deserve the best coach the owner can hire. Getting another number one overall draft pick is not going to fix head coaching errors. Coach Sides is not improving at being a head coach. Trying hard is not the objective. Does the owner know there are coaches that are hungry and ready for the opportunity to be the head coach of the Indiana WNBA team? Chicago hired an amazing head coach. Unfortunately, the owner hired coach Sides to be the Indiana Fever head coach. Even more unfortunately, we have to wait until the owner has had enough. The fans have had enough but nothing will change until the owner has had enough too.
You have to have a balanced offense. The Sparks players in double figures were 22, 21, 17 and 12. The Fever were 30, 17 and 15. and their bench only contributed 9 points. CC had a better game and good for her. Remember all those screens people been calling for? The Fever got smart and stopped running so many since that brings a second defender into the mix on CC( those double-teams people keep complaining about that every team does) I agree with Berger. I have no idea why she isn't playing. Taylor is the future for perimeter defense I believe and should get more playing time, or in this case, get into the game. I can't say for certain but I think everybody got in for the Sparks and contributed.
Sides is doing a great job trying to obtain next year's number one pick. Clark and Boston have great attitudes, too bad there is not much help from the floor by the coaches
At the end of the interview Catln said that the team barely had had time to practice after the draft. So they are trying to implement a system on the fly.
I mean, it's pretty simple. Sides is the entire reason they can't win a game. CC is on a hot streak and get benched for 3 MINUTES? AND goes to the bench with a 7 point lead only to watch the other team go on an 11 point run while the coach DOES NOTHING?!? No timeout? Just watched the game fall apart? Absolutely baffling.
They'll get there and I think sometimes you have to lose in order to learn how to win. What I mean is everyone learns from those little mistakes and develops those characteristics and championship habits.
This ain’t christie sides fault at all. The main problem that Fever has is with Caitlin Clark, She wants them to play IOWA Basketball Style that doesn’t suit Indiana Fever (This ain’t College BB.) Caitlin Clark was brought into this team to be a proper point guard for the assists. What she did to get that win on Saturday 23rd May 2024, IND 78-73 LA Sparks, Caitlin Clark must play that type of Basketball (Not IOWA BB, there was no need for that.)
If sides just lets her do what she wants and doesn’t fix the flaws in her game Indiana will never be a winning team. It will just be the CC side show. Sides is helping her become a better all around player in all aspects while learning to play efficient basketball. It will come together let the coach coach.

Put Wheeler and Mitchell in the same rotation, opposite CC, Berger and Temi. Never have Wheeler and Mitchell with CC, cuz Mitchell intentionally ignores CC when she’s wide open.
I think what's going on is a lot more dangerous than just mental health or pressure. Yes, AR might be contributing to the hate of CC. But did you see what happened about 2 games ago? When somebody committed a flagrant foul level 2 on her, and almost took AR out. That was the league players telling her that she better stay on the "right" side regarding their attitude towards CC. I really believe that Coach Sides is holding her back, because if she let's CC loose, she'll be putting up 40 points a game and the majority of the league will be angry at her, and they're going to take her out. It reminds me similarly to Hank Aaron; in spite of all the death threats and racial prejudice towards him, he still broke Babe Ruth's records in the 70's. If there was no racism, he would have put that home run record so I'll reach that nobody would be able to reach it, probably 900-1K homers in a career. But that's exactly what's going on here with CC. I pray for her. She's really putting up with a lot of people who think they are doing the right thing. The owners are holding her back only because they want to protect her and the interests of the WNBA. These haters are so stupid. They would rather stay in poverty than ride the back of the success of this poor woman and enjoy the successes of benefits that come from it. And I think the owners have to do something about this and send a message and stop being so POC about it. Since she entered the league, for the 1st time in 26 years, each team now get to ride in their own private chartered jets. You would think they would be happy. But there's so much hate and cognitive dissonance against CC due to being brainwashed that they just don't care. I hope these people come to their senses. I want CC to put up 40 PPG. And if anybody in that league is going to do that, it would be her. And if all these cry babies don't like it, then let them put in the effort and step up their game. Work harder and put in the work in the off-season, and put in the blood, sweat, and tears that's needed in order to be a better player. It's that simple. It also reminds me of Tiger Woods. He came into the PGA and took over for a while, and was unbeatable. How was this solved? Simple. Jack Nicholas and Arnold told the rest to step up their game and get better and make themselves better to be more competitive. It's that simple. Grow up!
This coach is horrible. Every postgame interview she is throwing her players under the bus. Aside from her horrible rotations, lack of ability to implement an effective offensive scheme, and crappy defensive gameplan, her never taking any blame is a sign of a bad coach. Great coaches will fall on the sword for their team. They will take all the heat for their players even if a player messed up in the game. This coach deflects, blames, and doesn't put any fault on herself. She needs to go ASAP.
It takes time to build a team. And this team is a little undermanned at times and in certain situations. A lot of missed lay-ups, turnovers, and missed defensive assignments. Some of these things are correctable in a short period of time. Some take longer and maybe even personnel changes. Coaching is coming along and growing. They will win more games as the season progresses. It is not a good time for a coaching change. The players and coaching staff are just getting to know each other.
I don't understand how a player gets there hands on the ball and can't keep it in her hands and control the pass that it goes against the player that passed the ball to them. It should go on the person that lost it out of her hands. Clark has alot of turn overs because of these players not being able to keep a ball in there hands that should have been caught.
They don’t want CC to be rookie of the year. I watched my first 3 games of the wnba and I am through until they trade her or she gets a new coach. ABC ya wnba.
The team (and especially the coach) needs to watch hours of video of the ‘86 Celtics to hopefully learn how to move without the ball, set screens, and pass to the open player. It also helps if every player can consistently make layups at a 98% clip.

How do you figure it was close down to the wire? The only way they got it down to 4 was through beating down the clock at garbage time. Notice no sell out. Notice a lot of empty seats. Notice the demise is beginning. Sides has to go.
It's their defense. and bench. The Sparks shot 61% from 3=pt. The Sparks bench outscored the Fever by 31 to 9. Nirse had 22 points and Mcdonald 21. The Fever's perimeter defense and bench production killed them.

I'll agree with that. There's been a lot of talk why the W hasn't grown faster and I'm of the opinion its because of the [hysicality. I've been watching basketball since the early seventies( watched Walton at UCLA and their 88 game win streak) and the closest thing I can remember for pjysicality is the 70's NBA as a whole and the Piston Bad boys as a team. Hopefully, the league tweaks things a bit. I expect physical play but not this much.
Sides is fine she is actually trying to fix some of the problems in her game. Instead of just letting her do whatever which is part of the reason Iowa never won a championship. She makes big plays and moments but she is not efficient with the basketball. Turnovers can kill you just like they do in football.
Coach Sides has no idea who the starting five should be. She is a horrible coach. The losses suffered are inexcusable and coach could not motivate a $100 million lottery winner.
It's less about the starting five and more about the rotations. Eventually everyone needs a break and you don't want the Fever to sit out their best five at the same time. If say Boston has to rest and Bene gets in foul trouble who plays the post? That's one thing I think Sides needs to work on. The Fever bench had only 9 pts while the Sparks rotated in all their players and had 31. All the more energy saved to play defense with.
It doesn't matter if the coach gets fired or she wants a trade, the WNBA is a league full of experience. She's scoring more points, but catching L's good player tho.
Ball movement!!! When Mitchell dribbles around and forces bad shots it’s a wasted possession. When they spread the floor and pass the ball around they scored. Too much dribbling! Not enough passing!

This is NOT on the coach. Besides Clark n Boston this team sucks. Starters Mitchell 5-15, Wallace 2-9, Fagbenle only had six points, bench was 4-14 for just nine points THAT'S NOT ON THE COACH. At some point players NEED to be held accountable for their crappy scoring, Yes Clark had seven turnovers but she 6 assists, 3 stls n three blocks to make up for that n almost doubled her other teammates in leading scoring At what point do we blame the players for playing like their the local women's club playing at the YMCA instead of pros in the WNBA.
Benched Caitlin when they had the lead and they never got it back !!!! SELF-SABOTAGE is her specialty. Replace her with Mike D'ANtoni and you'll see the Fever average at least 100 pts.a a game
I am seriously suprise she's still the coach , there are so many talented players on the indiana fever's team , but christie sides has No game plan , and she does not rotate her skilled players to creat a strategic role in any of there games ... she does not know how to coach talent , then she yells her players and has been belittling CC from the start of her entrance with the indiana fever..... where's the Owner and senior management of indiana fever, are they BLIND to whats happening!!!! , Hire , Lisa Bluder , if u want successful results for the team , she knows how to harness talent and skills .... I back CC to the end, win or lose. I remember the content of her getting onto this team...unlike Jordan, she was picked by the lowest ranking team, so she had a greater challenge than Jordan (undisputed NBA GOAT). I felt sick and shocked after this game they should have won, I do not want to criticize my girls, I hope they conquer what was obviously the reasons for loss. As I said from the start, CC is the GOAT of women's basketball already, you can see it each game and turnovers blamed on her are mostly not her fault, mostly. She needs her Scottie Pippen, or someone needs to be this. I think the short girl can be such a person, I believe she is the fastest in the league, perhaps, just get her game on. But. there was a quarter or two of defense I hope they play this way naturally. I wish someone could step up to replace CC effectively so she does not have to play so long every game, needs rest too. Satisfying rest where her team does not disappoint her. She speaks so dignified about others as I hoped ,but I can tell she wants to explode.
What??? I'm old enough to have watched the NBA back then and the Bull's pre-Jordan sucked. 27 wins and 55 losses. Last year the Fever had 13 wins and 27 losses. Seems about the same to me.
