The Buddy Hield sign in trade grade for the 76ers is a F-+.. Philly picks up a 2031 second round pick to to help out Embiid in his prime. 🤔 Daryl Morey had to be drunk when he made that move. Phillies bench is going to suck.😢
@@carlhammill5774 it’s cause we couldn’t afford him so the sign and trade makes it so we still get something back for him instead of letting him leave and getting nothing
You didn't cover the most important piece here. Sixers get a trade exception for Heilds first year's salary. So I think we get 9 million in additional salary cap space for this year. Can you cover this?
@@swizzy215 - No. It's literally not nothing. And the alternative was letting him walk for literally nothing. He wasn't going to sign here for what we have available to pay him.
@@JCPRuckus mfs will actually overreact and talk nonsense because they don't understand we were losing Hield regardless 😂 any draft compensation we get is a W
Bizarre y’all in the chat complaining. To simply some players you trade allow for you to sign back a player or trade for a player that make more than the player loss. So his contract now technically comes off our book. If Reed is traded for a player. That player can have a season salary almost twice his.
We need bench power. Buddy Hield is instant points off the bench & can even start when someone gets injured. But I understand if we don't have the money to offer him. We gotta do what we gotta do.

What are the 76ers doing now, trading Buddy Hield for nothing? Why couldn't the 76ers do the following sign & trade involving Buddy Hield! Sixers Get: Cameron Johnson & Dorian Finney-Smith Nets Get: Buddy Hield, Paul Reed & draft pick(s) the 76ers MUST sign the following free agents immediately or this upcoming season could be in jeopardy: Jae Crowder, Marcus Morris, Kyle Lowry, Gary Trent Jr & Haywood Highsmith the 76ers would be making a BIG mistake bringing back any of the following players regardless of how bad they need players: Dario Saric, Robert Covington, Furkan Korkmaz, D.J Wilson (Jeff Dowtin Jr) Markelle Fultz & Patrick Beverley
You forgot this isn't 2K and you can't force trades. You need a willing partner, and GSW were already sniffing around Hield as a Free Agent. Nets weren't (as far as we know).
@@genpopnyc listen to yourself. The pick doesn’t give you cap room! They signed him to that contract then TRADED HIM. So that money comes back off the books and with certain contracts and cap rules you can sign back players a bit more than what you lost them for. Ex of sort in a different situation is if you trade Reeds 7 million you can take back a player up to 15 million. Think about what you’re saying .
Bro heild was UNPLAYABLE. What the actual fuck are you guys bitching about, we got a second rounder that can be attached into a package as opposed to letting him just walk, like yall cant be that dense
if there's anything that I've learnt through Free Agency is that some Sixers fans really have no idea how cap space works and WILL throw their fists in the air over anything 😐 it was never viable to keep Hield here with his MASSIVE cap hold, WHILST signing Paul George at the same time getting a 2nd round pick is good compensation for a player who we were never going to be able to keep at his desired salary if we wanted to sign PG guys STOP OVERREACTING!! my god
Heild would have been money with this team. He would have been wide open. This is stupid no matter what ends up happening. I think we will get a exception or something so might open up 9 million to fill out the roster but i would have kept him. A 2nd round pick in 7 yrs. Our guy is like 12 yrs old right now lol
I can’t see a benefit of making a trade that gives you nothing until 5, 6, or 7 years down the road. Should’ve gotten a second draft pick (maybe a 5th round) in the 2026 draft.
No matter how many of the 76ers PR team try to defend this ridiculous move in the comments……it was a dumb trade…green is not Hield…Morey…no more former rockets……
It's not a bad trade, Buddy heild was a free agent and the sixers cap would not allow them to resign him so they picked up a second round pick, it's like making a profit using someone else's money.
Hield was a huge liability on defense. Didn't help us in the playoffs and struggled to make a shot if he was defended. He can go no problem with this move.
@@jjones2509 - It has nothing to do with the tax. We literally wouldn't have the max space available for PG if Buddy was on the roster at a number he would accept... So unless you honestly want Buddy Hield over PG this was something for nothing.
Buddy only 31, plus one of the best 3 point shooters and the Sixers only get a 2nd round pick? That was a bad deal in my view. Hield could have fit in the Tobias Harris role with more playing time.
But Embiid didn't play at 💯%?! And Buddy got less than a half a season to prove himself?! After the 76ers pursued him for 2 years. Why are we helping GS? A 2031 2nd rounder? We gave him away! Why is the question? This trade decision must have come from above. This is dumb like trading Jimmy Butler!!
It seems the 2nd round pick we got from Golden State for 2031 and the 2nd round picks for the L.A.Clippers we most be using it to trade off to get a Caleb or a DFS
I don't understand why we took the L to help the Warriors and Buddy Hield both of whom never did anything to help us. This literally provides us with nothing to upgrade our roster with its literally a nonsensical move. Tired of 2nd round picks they don't have value there shouldn't even be a 2nd round in the draft.
1. How much value does the NBA today place on the second round 41st pick of the 2014 draft? 2. Is getting something better than getting nothing? Those were the two options. Something or nothing. 3. You state the Warriors never did anything for us. That suggests you see value in a team doing something for another team. So do you suppose that the 76ers doing something for Golden State and Buddy Hield might create some good will of the nature you seem to be valuing?
Sixers - F. What are the Sixers doing? We get rid of all our young players and still no clear picture of what Philly is doing. Players come here and do 1 year and move on. Still don't understand why we got rid of Joe. This team will never go anyplace because they are always looking for a quick fix. OKC is doing it the correct way.
There are ways to increase cap space. Yes we get the cap space, but without specifics, when you have certain players traded, it allows room in the cap. Example would be trading Reed 7 mill allows the return player to be able to make up to 15 million on the season. There are cap rules teams use to their advantage.
@@JCPRuckus no, they did have room to sign him as it’s a SIGN and trade. Buddy going to warriors was mutual because he could have just went without signing to us first. This helped both teams cap wise. Warriors get buddy under their cap and we lose the contract to gain a little room.
@@WawaMarvel - They can't sign PG yet. They only have this room until then. So, no, they could not sign and KEEP him (for a number he would except) and still sign PG when they're finally allowed to do that. If they didn't get in on this sign and TRADE, then they would have had to let him walk for nothing in free agency. Y'all don't understand how the cap works.
@@JCPRuckus I exactly know what I’m talking about. I never said anything about keeping buddy. Let’s not debate and troll. I explained my point accurately and I’m not mistaken. I know what I’m talking about. Peace.
I’m so happy 99% of you are not gm’s of an organization. Why does no one understand that there are STEPS to building a roster and obtaining money? Sixers organization & Morey obviously did this with a second or third move in mind. Let’s stop crying until the season is about to start. It’s a long summer, many more moves to be made still.
This isn't a step in any plan. Buddy was going to leave in free agency because we can't afford him. This got us a free pick we can maybe use in a package in the future. It's just another marginal win turning nothing into something and accumulating assets. But there's no plan for that asset right now. Daryl did a smart thing here, but let's not go overboard with the mastermind narrative.
Definitely. There’s lots of these weird rules and things you can do. Ex is Paul Reed 7mil can be traded for a player up to 15 million. This wasn’t just for nothing. There’s something cap room, involved because there’s another trade or player they are trying to fit in.
@@genpopnyc can you not read? The pick doesn’t give us cap space. It’s a sign and trade. WE SIGNED BUDDY TO THAT CONTRACT. Then traded it to the warriors. SO THE CONTRACT WAS OURS, now it goes to them. When you trade players contracts, you get a little flexibility to sign or trade back for a player than may make a little bit more!!!! I explained this already!! I used Reed as an example. Trading his contract I know allows for a player up to 15mil to come back. I’m not sure what the amount would to the cap for buddy contract leaving us , but it will be a few mill more in flex. Stop talking about the 2nd round pick as I keep telling you it has nothing to do with cap space . You sound ridiculous asking that. Try to actually comprehend what I’ve explained to you again.
@WawaMarvel can I read. Just say you don't know what your talking about. You said cap space now you changing your tune. Maybe you can't read what you wrote. Smh
@@genpopnyc and you have your detailed answer above. READ. No tune was changed. He asked do we get cap space from this deal. I said yes. I used reed as an example of how moving a contract can allow more money back. You’re the weirdo asking how a draft pick creates space and it doesn’t obviously, the room is in losing the contract as explained and the example I gave. So instead of trolling, comprehend the conversation and the answers provided. It’s extremely clear.
You guys do understand that. We're never going to get value back for him right? And he's not the kind of guy that's gonna come off the bench and play well
