Aggression was never the problem. Aggression without thought was the problem. This time there seems to be thought or a plan. Even the picks they gave up won’t be that great since Brunson and Bridges will still be in the tail end of their prime at 34yrs old when the last pick conveys in 2031. If they did this for a 34-35yr old aging star then that would’ve been stupid.

Knicks bet on Jalen Brunson being the equivalent of Houston finding James Harden. They won that on that front. Now they're thinking Mikal Bridges is the equivalent of Detroit adding Rasheed Wallace to push them over to championship territory. Let's see how this goes.

The Knicks still have two firsts today, a first in 2026, and 2030. Plus those WSH and DET picks that may/may not convey. They still have a ton of picks in the second round in the future. The only picks that worry me as a Knicks fan is the one in 2031. I’m not worried about lack of lack of all star appearances. The ASG is basically a popularity contest.

Most of the picks will be late first rounders. The '31 pick is the most vulnerable. Bulk of the team will the in that weird area of 32-34 years old for NBA players. Always a crapshoot. Knicks are running the '03-04 Pistons model. Tough defensive guys that have good chemistry. Brunson is good, but we'll see.

Go back and watch that finals run the Suns went on, Bridges was the GLUE on that team. He hit every big shot down the stretch of those playoff games. I know he had cp3 getting the ball there but my point is Bridges has potential to have an all-star season alongside his brothers from college. I'm a celtics fan and I think Bridges makes the knicks match up much better against my Celtics.

You're right but still a couple moves away from really getting to the C's level. They really should trade Randle. A starting 5 with Brunson Bridges OG Donte and Hartenstein matches really well with Boston. Plus you have Hart as a 6th man. Thats the best matchup of next season by a mile

Macmahon kind of hit on a good point. If the core is at risk of breaking up like the (KD, Kyrie, Harden) Nets, then i get being worried about these picks. But you legit got 4 long time best friends together that clearly wanted to play together. This is more sustainable than trading for some megastar.

Those are 4 players. What of the other guys on the team? Have you thought about that? I can tell you as a Raptors fan OG is a very quiet guy but he is very smart & will tell you his feelings. He is very private & doesn't like his business on front street. He also will like to be more involve on offense so let's see what happens if he resigns.

The nets made the best of a bad situation where they would never be able to compete at a high level, and would waste another 2 years to be relevant, with zero picks. Bridges doesn’t fit the Nets timeline. He’s not a superstar and does not need to be. Watch him grow as he will not need to carry a team.

I love the trade. For Brooklyn it’s great because it gives them some sense of direction finally. For NY, they are ahead of the game with the new CBA. They recognized that superteams won’t work anymore because you can’t build around the margins anymore (just look at Phoenix). They recognize that one star and several incredible role players is what you need to win a championship in today’s league. I think it will pay off for them. Not sure they’ll win a championship, because championships are hard, but it will put them in the conversation every single year here for a while

Knicks were in a now or never situation. If they ended up running it back and resigning last years core, they wouldve been in the second apron and trading for star/superstar becomes nearly impossible. So i think knicks needed to make sure this deal gets done while they had the bojan salary, and had to overpay. Luckily i think this core wants to play together so im not as concerned about those picks.

I’m happy with the deal because I’m banking that this team will stay together and a few of those picks will be meaningless. Furthermore, unlike the Carmelo trade where they gave up like 4 quality players they kept the nucleus of the team together. When Carmelo got here it was just him and Amare.

The Suns now have an opportunity to get out of this while they can… Send KD to Houston and get some of your own picks back to salvage your future. Or if they trade Booker, they’ll get ALL of those picks back along with some young talent and future stars. That was a very smart move by Houston who will be salivating at the mouth every time the Suns show signs of dysfunction. Something to keep an eye on throughout the season.

I wouldn't mind trading KD and Nurk for pick 1 and Dejounte. Suns get their PG and Center/PF of the future. Beal can remain the Sixth man. Booker plays the 2, Grayson the 3, and Sarr can be the 4 or 5. Maybe give Bol Bol one last shot at the 5 or get some other guy to play the 5. Hawks get KD and Nurkic to pair with Trae Young. Maybe move KD back to the 3 and play big with that one young guy on the Hawks.

They gave up picks out to 2031, but I'm honestly not worried. OG will be 27 in a few weeks, Brunson is 27, Bridges is 27, DiVincenzo is 27, Josh Hart is 28, and both Mitchell Robinson & iHart are 25. Then they have two first round picks in today's draft to add a pair of rookies, probably a center if iHart takes a bigger payday elsewhere. In 7 years their core will be 33-35, so most to all of those picks will be late picks from making deep playoff/finals runs.

As a Knicks fan, I am finally excited to see management be a steward of Dolan's money. I think Leon pivoted from a Kentucky nepotist to a Nova guy. I think the future of the league looks bright consider the new cap limitations, expansion, and parity. I am curious of the added value of Mo Cheeks on the staff. Every coach has his "guys" I just wish one of Thibs was a creative, younger assistant from Europe. This offense needs some tweaking now that we are locked in to these guys. Great podcast. I was waiting for it. Tim being a little more subtly antagonistic than usual had Windy looking at the mini-bar.

I’m a huge Mikal guy but that’s a lot to give up for him. I view Mikal as a guy whose at his peak value when he’s gotten at a bargain not something you pay top 10 player in league value for. Regardless the guy is high character. Ultra dependable. Talented on both ends. You probably won’t hate getting the player but the price is hefty

The only starter they drafted left is mitch, who never plays anyway. The draft is a crapshoot now with the lottery odds. Those picks are maybe and what ifs. We know what bridges brings to the table to this team. Good move by the front office.

If chemistry means anything, the Knicks might have made a steal. Forget the picks, and im glad someone is trying to build a team with chemistry. Thank God they realize they have a 1 in Brunson with Julius being a good to 2 ,unless they trade him. Save OKC who consistently wins the draft? Bridges won't break the bank. Hmmm. Windy's tipping something here. He's fielding texts from agents and then adds a casual thing here at the end, "One thing before we go: Are we sure that's the last trade done between teams returning their (draft) picks? I'm just saying, they're talking. Or have talked. It's a copycat league..." And the whole time he's looking down, as if reading something from his texts. Can someone explain that the motivation behind Brooklyn/Houson draft picks trade is. . Each team benefits how? Prima facie it just looks like two teams switching draft picks just for the helluva it. I don't get it. Windy is usually my guy on this stuff, but he got stuck in the weeds on this one. It would be nice if we got into "the why" of things. Correction: McMahon just answered the call. Houston is trying to squeeze Phoenix for Durant.
