Welcome to another tech series. Get in, buckle up and hold on, it's gonna be one hell of a ride! After getting tons of comments requesting a hands-on guide showing the fitting and setup process of the new NEXUS R5 we figured the best way to do it would be on an actual car. It just so happened we had a proper, serious circuit race car in our garage, all ready for wiring and an ECU install. We pitched the idea to its owner and he agreed:) The car in question is a ground-up build based on a Nissan R35 GTR. With a twin turbo VR38, sequential gearbox, ABS, staged fuel pumps and more sensors we could poke a gear stick at it's an ideal candidate for the NEXUS R5. In this episode we give you a quick overview of the build, go over all the products we'll be installing and get cracking with the wiring. Fellas this is incredibly well made, and I mean the R5 product itself, and also how you've marketed this video. Taking it all back to layman's terms and making this software so user friendly. Having soft start functions on relays?! Being able to monitor current draw on circuits in real time! Are you kidding me, thats unreal. Looks like our rally car might be in for a little birthday, hahaha
OH MAN!!! I'm gonna watch the ever living fark out of this episode! The Falcon series was great, but this is going to be absolutely next level!... That last statement about basing things off break line pressure? That's outright mythical stuff right there!
Any chance at a can based input only box that has say 8-12 inputs? This would allow a box to sit behind the gauge cluster and wire in all of the column stalk switches without eating a ton of R5 inputs. Lights, blinkers, wipers, horn, cruise and all that. Every time I wire a Haltech ECU it seems like I'm scrounging for inputs with outputs to spare. DBW only makes this worse. I ask because of the even ratio of I/O on the expansion boxes seems like a waste. Would love one more geared towards inputs.
@Haltech Yall are absolutely awesome! The R5 is definitely going to be a game changer. All I need now is a car worth putting one in! *And ALOT of wiring study*
I absolutely love what the NEXUS R5 VCU is capable of doing and I'm seriously considering it for a build that I'm currently researching. I think it is overkill for where I want this build to be for now but it will keep me from having to upgrade later on when I go bigger on the build. I just hope I can find someone that knows what they are doing to help me with this process as I know very little about wiring a vehicle
well then...I just figured out my entire wiring solution for my track car. this is incredible to have everything all in one from the most reliable company out there. will you be adding LS1 harness for Nexus as an option or do I just need to call and order
Can you set up audible or visual alerts for every sensor? Iat, water pump speed etc? Also can you see current draw to coils to help diagnose a bad coil? Thanks fuggin epic stuff
Im loving the new nexus and its possibilities. Loving more that i can upgrade my sprint series ecu to elite 750 or higher, when you all wanna sell them for the nexus..lol
Did I hear that right? You can run an entire car through the Nexus? Like brake lights, windows, wipers, turn signals? All through just the Nexus? No additional PDM or relays needed?
that thing is absolutely amazing. I dont need it but damn i defo want it. Its just so darn expensive. But once i win the lotto i will buy 1 for each of my cars. LMAO
Would the R5 be a great option for a restomod? as i plan on going to a built na itb engine ill go standalone anyway but i wanna keep it looking period correct'ish. like a factorycar but better. Can i simply use the steering wheel stalks to control the lights, wipers, ...
not sure how i feel, all the time and money wiring a 2500 with a I/O into ls1 turbo with fuses and relays now... i can throw it all out and get a NEXUS.......
Not really impressed that you used HD30 connectors instead of a milspec sized connector; and Im not talking Autosport, Im talking MS DTL 26482 circular connectors. For the money involved, a few hundred dollars more is nothing and use the same terminals except being half the size.
