Unfortunately, most South Koreans aren't really into heavy metal, so you won't find super heavy songs on their Korean releases. The Japanese tend to be more accepting of heavy metal which is why Dreamcatcher's heavier songs tend to be on their Japanese releases.

This is their most metal song yet from my opinion and its in Japanese, your ear did not deceived you. But they're a Korean kpop group that's has been in the industry for quiet some time. Yeah we all know Baby Metal, but this group not only can pull rock sound. They can also do ballad, edm, jazz, funk and rnb blended with kpop genre. The diversity is real. A bit of info that others haven't covered: Dreamcatcher have seven members, but only six were in the "Endless Night" video. JiU (real name Kim Minji), SuA (Kim Bora), Lee Siyeon, Kim Yoohyeon, Dami (Lee Yubin) and Lee Gahyeon are all Korean, but the absent seventh, Handong (Han Dong) is from China. Handong has been away from the group for seven months while participating in a Chinese competition TV show, and missed the group's most recent comebacks and tours. Handong was eliminated during the second round of the show, and has resumed Dreamcatcher online activities, but is still under contract to the show and remains in China until after the show airs its final episode, sometime in June. Barring any quarantine or visa issues, she should be able to return to Korea later this summer, although she may still miss the next Dreamcatcher comeback, depending upon when it is scheduled for (lead time for recording, choreography, etc. can be several months).
Babymetal are Japanese, yes. Dreamcatcher are Korean (mostly; they have one Chinese member, but she's not in this video due to scheduling conflicts), but here _singing_ in Japanese. Most of their Japanese-original music (they don't have much yet, but they're expanding) leans more toward the metal, which does pretty well in Japan. Koreans are still getting used to the idea, but their Korean title tracks are still mostly rock-based, while also blending in other styles. And their B-sides run the absolute genre gamut, so there's no room to get bored with them at all. They're pretty awesome.
Dreamcatcher is the resident Kpop meet rock and heavy bass group in the Korean music scene. They are kind of under-appreciate as the Korean pop market is more geared towards R&B and popish sounds. If you like rock as well as metal, you can also check out Vincit "I don't wanna die" and YongYong "Lost Ember" which are some of the newer rockier songs in the Kpop industry.
Yes, Dreamcatcher's sound is Kpop combined with rock/metal. If you like this, then you'll like the rest of their discography. Unlike other groups they use real instruments, such as electric guitars and heavy drums, enjoy the Dream world!

Awesome! I love Babymetal and I love Dreamcatcher. Babymetal are Japanese, and Dreamcatcher are Korean. While BM are heavier, DC have found their place in my heart with their rock/metal infusion into Kpop, something that is very special and brave, since Korea isn't that much into Rock/Metal. And their music is very good! I'd suggest to react to Deja Vu next, since it isn't part of a storyline (most other videos are connected) and it is different, with a slower start. But I'm pretty sure you'll like it as well! 😊

As a fellow metalhead, my initial reaction to Dreamcatcher was very similar to yours. I thought I got ported to another dimension or some twilight zone acid trip shit. Def awesome! I'm going to suggest another Japanese girl group. "Broken By The Scream"
Dreamcatcher calls their fans InSomnia just as an FYI and they have a darker horror concept that isn't seen very often in Kpop. Most of their title tracks are rock or rock/pop in sound but their bsides have a huge range from ballads to reggaeton. Endless Night is their most recent Japanese Release and is definitely heavily influenced by Jrock and metal. Their newest Korean title track and title of their first full length studio albums is called "Scream" and is mash up of heavy rock and EDM. Their previous title tracks before "Scream" all told one continuous story known as the "Nightmare" series. In the nightmare series all 7 members of the group are cursed to become nightmares and haunt other peoples dreams while being trapped in their own eternal nightmares and their attempts to escape the nightmare. This storyline starts with their debut track "Chase Me" and continues in release order with "Good Night", "Fly High" (this one is a prequel story to the first two if you want to watch it first), "You and I", "What", and "Piri." After the end of the nightmare series with Piri and their mini album "The End of Nightmare" they released their first Japanese album "The Beginning of the End" with its title track "Breaking Out" and a special mini album in collaboration with the game "King's Raid" called "Raid of Dream" with the title track "Deja Vu" which is a sort of rock ballad. All of this leads up to their most recent release and their first full length studio album "Dystopia: The Tree of Language" and its title track "Scream."
this is their hardest song till now, they're one notch below Baby Metal in terms of heaviness... "Scream" was their most recent come back, "May day" w/ their fan band is a must see. Every rock group needs a song titled "May day"... "My way" Japanese Bside is heavy, "What" & "Piri" show how they merge rock in to different styles, "Deja Vu" is a rock ballad you would appreciate... "Chase Me", "Good Night", "Fly High", "You and I", "Full Moon" are their earlier songs that merged Kpop w/ Rock... As a Metal Head myself, they are the best group in Kpop... Just too good for Kpop and Kpop fans can't handle them...

I think Endless Night was the ROCKEST song Dreamcatcher ever had lolol. There are so many masterpieces came from DC. One of them is Silent Night. That song is definitely a TRAP lol.

Dreamcatcher has 7 members but one of them, Handong, who is Chinese, was participating in a show called Idol Producer in China, and she is with her family after she got eliminated. She wasn’t able to be on tour with them or be apart of scream era or endless night.
