I love your reaction without overreacting, I got into kpop because of Blackpink and I like them, but Dreamcatcher is another level vocally, musically and choreographically. It is also versatile with rock-oriented in the titles tracks but its b-side songs as good as the title track and with diverse genres such as jazz, edm, funky, reaggae, etc. Plus it doesn't have a single bad song. This is a K-pop group, technically. Usually their have mainly pop elements but influenced by rock. As far as I know, they're the only K-pop group producing infusing rock elements in their main tracks. This is their Japanese release, so they put in more rock/metal elements than their Korean songs. Specially catered for Japanese fans.
Japanese release sung in Japanese. The song was written and composed by Japanese rockers and the band were also Japanese. Most of their Korean songs were written and composed by their long time production duo, Leez and Ollounder who also lay down the instrument tracks. So this song is really JRock. Their Korean songs are currently favoring more EDM elements along with Rock blended with the kind of catchy melodies you'd expect from Kpop. Their newest song, Boca, has a moombahton beat and demonstrates how skilled Koreans are at seamlessly mixing different genres to come up with something fresh and new. That is the appeal of KPop.

These girls are actually super versatile. They do pop fusion with all sorts of genres: punks, hip hop, R&B, as well as metal and rock. Sometimes several in one song. It oughta be a mess but it always works. The rock influence is pretty consistent in the choruses. Sometimes, like Endless Night, in the whole song. Check out their debut and the followup, Chase Me and Good Night, and some recent B-sides, Red Sun and the live stage version of Break the Wall. There are tons more.
Dreamcatcher has excellent rock songs. my personal favorites are What, Mayday, Scar, too many to list. they have a song called Break The Wall from their newest mini album and it sounds straight out of the Linkin Park/Evanescence era, you should check it out. thank you for the DC content!!
dreamcatcher is nothing like blackpink or anything else in kpop. the more you check out their songs you will realize how distinct each of their songs are. not going to name names, but a lot of 'other' kpop groups recycle the same sound/beat over and over with just minor variations. dreamcatcher does a lot of different genres but since your channel seems to be more rock/metal oriented maybe just stick to their rock based songs. try one of their releases last year since there are all 7 members(one has been stuck in china due to covid travel restrictions in 2020) like 'deja vu' or 'piri'.
Ivishy you have to understand that they only know kpop from Blackpink or (maybe) Bts, thats why a lot of reactors usually compare DC to BP. Even BP when they performe with the band is a lot "heavy" than the studio version of their songs. We has insomias know that there is no point of comparition between both groups, just gave they time to hear more song from both groups (or others groups) and they will see how different Dreamcatcher really is. I love blackpink thanks to them I enter in the kpop world.
@@cloudsterling3095 I wasn't referring to bp. when I said 'others' I meant everyone else in kpop. I use to be heavily into kpop back before everything became generic mainstream and all the groups began dumping the same songs with the only variation being how 'dope' they could make the edm drop. gets old fast but that's just my personal preference. it's popular for a reason and I respect other's opinions on music. if it wasn't for dreamcatcher I probably would have phased out of kpop although I've a little disappointed they recently blended more 'mainstream' genres into their title tracks. at least they put a different twist on more mainstream music.
@@ivyshy98 yeah I know that it wasn´t just BP your comment. But is a BIG point of reference for new reactors of Kpop like BTS. This channel have only reacted to BP and now Dreamcatcher, so is going to be obvius the comparation, next they will compare other groups to Dreamcatcher (bad luck for those groups jajaj) And yes between last year and this it has become to repetitive the industry, but at least we can trust DC and a few other groups(Kard,CLC, Everglow-LaDiDa was really fresh-) to keep us entertained. Dreamcatcher will never disappointed us, even if they mix some "mainstream" they always keep the rock element, we have to understand that this little mix is good for them not just because it brings new people but to they keep improving in their own style and not become repetitive.
If Kpop groups are like TV school drama cliches, BP and BTS are the hype cool kids that everyone want to hang out with while Dreamcatcher are the weird quirky kid in the corner doing their own stuff despite industry efforts that want you to ignore them and pretend that they do not exist.

Don't be confused.. They're still technically a kpop band. 😁😁😁 But their songs are totally different from the mainstream. It's just a mixture of any genre with rock. And of course pop element is still there. But they does it perfectly. All songs are bop. Maybe you should check out DEJA VU or PIRI next
They call themselves a rock band. All of their headliners have at least some level of rock element. They expirement with other genres in their bsides and covers though.

Just feels strange when you compare Dreamcatcher to Blackpink since both are so different, just because they are both kpop. My all time favourite kpop group are Mamamoo since they don't have a specific concept and people lable their sound and concept as mamamoo genre. They are similar to Dreamcatcher in the way they have fun and do different things with their music and they just stand out I think. You should look into Mamamoo because they are considered the vocal queens of kpop
