Thank you for speaking about possum fibre! In New Zealand they are a danger to our native kiwi and other native birds too 😭 I love how excited you both get for each other’s projects ❤️

Paige - that bow vest is **chef's kiss** and love that green border/general colour choices. So for context, I'm originally from Perth, lived in Melbourne briefly too...BUT now briefly in thr States: Thought of you girls today, went to my new "local" yarn store (lol took an uber for 30mins), and thought I'd died and gone to yarn heaven. They had hand dyes from local makers, knitting for olive, sandnes garne (they had POPPY in autumn in stock??!!), Jamieson's, Biches et Bouches, Noro (so many lines!!), i bought Sarah's Mykt Til Dame book (sorry, not sorry, so influenced), plutolopi and all these wheels of unspun yarn, aahhh and so many more. I was totally unprepared because their insta and website are still a work in progress. Have to go back with a game plan. Still have flutters thinking about it 😍

I adore possum yarn as well! It's so soft and the halo is nice so you don't have to hold anything with it. I also like alpaca and tweed yarns.

My favorite yarn to date that I’ve used is KnitPicks Palette, which is 100% Peruvian Highland wool. It’s so surprisingly soft to the touch, and softer than other PHW yarns I’ve used. It does pill, but not as bad as other yarns and it feels nice to wear so I don’t care too much! Basic but beautiful!

I've made some delicious mitts in Zealand before and love the yarn so much. Definitely a great use of a pest in NZ. My favourite yarn to knit with at the moment is this yarn I found at Bendigo sheep and wool by a small farm called Karoa fibres. The yarn has mohair in it so it's super soft when washed and has a beautiful halo! It's really affordable too! I'm falling back in love with all things Australian yarns because of your podcast! Bendigo woollen mills is so under-rated!

That was cool to hear about the possum yarn! Never knew that was a thing! I am excited to knit the book club cardigan with sandnes recycled tweed :) My favorite yarn is holst garn cielo- it’s so unique and delightful to knit with! It’s a blown wool/alpaca blend, and I love the muted fuzziness and squish factor

having recently visited New Zealand I had lots of opportunities to squish possum yarn - truly super soft! My favourite yarns however are wooly wools, eg Shetland 2ply. Thank you for the interesting possum fiber information! I live in Minnesota in the states and there have been many invasive species, such as carp, that have devastated the lakes and have to be culled. It is nice when they can find a use for them-like dog food. I like to use merino since I have sensitive skin but I also enjoy using blow yarns. They do make such light, warm sweaters and vests!

Love hearing about different fibers from different places! Just as my favorite project is always my last cast off, my favorite yarn currently is one I used recently for a Tolsta Tee - Pure Silk! It’s a really interesting fiber - not really ‘silky’ but rather light yet strong and the tee has wonderful drape. Would love to try possum yarn too! Love your podcast - your enthusiasm inspires me every episode 💕

I immediately put the Book Club cardigan in my queue when Sarah announced the KAL! I've just started knitting less than a year ago and I have to say I'm currently using Tynn Peer Gynt from Sandnes Garn and loving the knitting experience. I've also read that it holds up quite well, so I'm looking forward to that.

I love this podcast. It feels to me like listening to my friends who are as excited about yarn and knitting as I am. Your sweater in the Sandnes garn Poppy yarn is amazing. I was really excited for the book club cardigan pattern to come out too. I was swatching for it before it's released using some yarn I got in the Catskills region of New York. I'm in love with this yarn. It is called American Ewe worsted tweed. I bought it in the color way called earth tones. It's so soft and beautiful and lovely to knit with.

I so enjoy seeing your WIPs, and how you each have such different styles or approaches to your knitting projects. So excited for the KAL! I mainly knit with Bendigo Woollen Mills yarn as it is local, however, I have also used possum yarn a few times. I have purchased the yarn when I travel to 'The Wool Stash' (local yarn store in Malden) and have bought some there for beanies etc. It makes a lovely fabric, very drapey like alpaca.

I knitted one garment recently with Zealana Kauri and Heron worsted and I love them so much. Since then I’ve been looking into merino possum yarns more, every time I touch samples made from this type of yarn it is so soft and it has that nice halo from possum fur. I really want to try out a hand dyed merino possum yarn one day as well, as it has that earthy undertone from the possum that is so good!

Loved this video! I’ve been knitting for 8 months now so still very new to trying different yarns. Most recently I knitted with a single ply chunky wool/acrylic blend yarn and I loved how fluffy and soft it is so makes knitting very fun. But I’m also using a sock yarn held double for a ranunculus and working with merino wool is very lush.

Thank you so much for the possum information/education. I had wondered about the ethical side of things. I also didn’t realize it was different from the opossum here in the US. I'm really new at knitting so I don't have too much experience using different yarn, but I really liked The fiber Co. Acadia yarn which I used pretty recently. I used it in a colorwork beanie and it was really fun to see work up since it has a bit of a tweed texture. It also made a really soft, comfortable fabric being a mix of merino wool, baby alpaca, and silk noil. I am sensitive to itch and this one isn't itchy at all. I will really likely be buying more of it to make into other garments because I liked it so much.

favorite yarn to use is 100% wool because its so hardwearing and has such nice traits like its temperature regulating etc. i find its just nice to work with on the hands. however, i will never say no to a wool/silk mohair mix as it makes it that much softer and more lux and the mohair helps protect the wool a little too. i also live in melbourne and have been looking into possum yarn for a while but its always been just that little bit out of the price range for a uni student like me, but i have seen samples in stores around victoria and it is so incredibly soft!!

I’ve only recently gotten back into knitting again after 10+ years, and it has just been TAKING ME OVER 🥲 I’ve even been dreaming about it… regularly!! My absolute favourite yarn right now is the Dory Sock yarn by Green Gable Alpacas farm - it’s “70% Extra Fine Merino, 20% Royal Alpaca and 10% Mulberry Silk” - it’s unbelievably soft and the most luxurious yarn I’ve worked with for sure. The supplier is a quaint little alpaca farm on Prince Edward Island in Canada, and they hold hand-dyeing workshops with their yarn, so I actually hand-painted this skein myself! It holds such a beautiful memory because I attended the workshop with my friend when we travelled there together, so it’s extra meaningful to knit with. It was so cool to meet the owner (who taught the workshop), as well as tour her farm and meet the alpacas themselves 😊

i appreciate the info about possum fiber! i think it's important for knitters to think about where their fibers are coming from (if they have the ability/means to do so of course). i'm unfortunately pretty sensitive to rustic wools, so i'm mostly a merino girl, but i'm always on the lookout for wools that my skin can handle and prefer hardier merino yarns. i think my favorite yarn to knit with has been knitting for olive (both regular and heavy merino), but there's still a ton of yarns that i'd like to try knitting with! i also like brooklyn tweed arbor as a non-merino alternative that doesn't bother my skin!

I was told by an independent yarn maker at a recent yarn festival in Canberra that most of the possum fur for knitting yarn (as opposed to possum fur for commercial clothing) comes from Tasmania and is sent to New Zealand. Possums are a pest in Tasmania as well, so it's still an ethical choice. I just found that very interesting. I don't really have a favourite yarn, but I love knitting with alpaca.

Nice episode as always! I love to knit with cozy wool like Isager Soft but unfortunately the weather here in Florida does not give me too many opportunities to wear it. Sometimes turning the A/C really cold makes it fun to wear my warmer sweaters inside though! But the yarn that I use the most is Sandnes Line. Weather appropriate all year round in Florida and nice to knit with!

I really love almost all yarns, but I suppose wool is my all-time fave. Love alpaca and cashmere, of course. Would looooooove to try the possum blend, as I am thoroughly intrigued! Currently using cotton blends for a bunch of summer projects. ❤

I’m a big fan of Zealana yarns & possum yarn in general. When I visited New Zealand I purchased a beautiful possum beanie that has lasted the test of time & still looks brand new! My favourite yarn?? I really love the Inca Spun Heritage sock yarn with its addition of alpaca 👌🏼

Thank you so much for looking into possum yarn, it was good to get more info about it. My fave yarn is Ulysse by de Rerum Natura, I love the feel of the non superwash merino, soft and woolly at the same time!

Love the podcast as always. Love reading the comments too and seeing what yarns people favour. I like non superwash wooly yarns for jumpers etc that wear well and don’t pill. I generally use the merino or other soft fibres for shawls and hats. My workhorse go tos are KnitPicks Palette (especially for colourwork) and Holst Supersoft. Also love Rowan Felted Tweed just for the gorgeous flecks colours and it’s soft but wears well imo. Also partial to all yarns Isager cos of the way they combine. And Sarah, my row gauge is always off!, usually I get less rows than stipulated! 😟 As you say, it often doesn’t matter but I do get a bit sick of adjusting for it. It’s a total mystery to me.

I love watching you girls- you just make me laugh!! My favourite yarn would be anything produced by Bendigo as it’s Australian manufactured yarn! I’ve just knit the louvre sweater with the woodlands heartwood colour and it’s amazing. I’m very much appreciate the time you took to research the zealana yarn!!

Im a huge fan of any kind of fluff. Favourite yarn is Isager silk mohair but I've been wanting to try lace weight alpaca because mohair makes everything sooo warm haha

Wonderful podcast Sarah and Paige! Love your new haircut Paige, it looks fabulous on you. Two fibres I haven’t tried yet are Possum and Yak and would LOVE to 😊 I did just purchase and swatched yarn from Sonder Yarn Co., it is a gorgeous and soft blend of 65% BFL, 25% Masham, and 10% Cashmere. Using the Masham and Cashmere will be knew to me. I can’t wait to see your Book Club Cardigan Sarah, it’s in my queue along with almost everything Sari designs lol. Have a great day and thanks for a chance 💓

I have heard a little about the possum problem in New Zealand and was impressed with the research you have done to educate yourself as others! My favorite yarn is currently Purl Soho Linen Quill

Still a yarn novice, but so far my favourite seems to be the 'Bio Balance GOTS' from BC Garn. It's 55% wool 45% cotton. It may not be the most lux to knit with, but I really like the fabric you get after it's been knit up and washed, and it has a nice range of colours. Also it seems to be a local favourite for plant dying :)

I've been following you two almost from the start and I always get excited when I see a notification from your channel, keep it up! Two of my favorite yarns are Holst Supersoft for its wide range of colors and it's really good for colorwork, and another would be Sandnes Garn Sunday for its versatility and softness.

I'm really into cotton/linnen blends at the moment, but I find it hard to find them at a small gauge so unmercerized cotton has also been on my radar!

I haven’t knit with a large range of yarns so far but because of my sock knitting I’ve enjoyed using Nundle Woolen Mills sock yarn.
