Hi guys, I am from France, the gelatinous candy you're talking about, I grew up with. In French, it's called pate de fruit, coated in sugar. My grand mother used to make it out of any fruit she had. I enjoy chocolate, jelly beans and gum drops. Fudge and caramel are good too. My mom was from York, PA, and had a sister who got polio in one leg. A public health nurse would come to treat her leg. Her father was a candy distributor for the Northeast , and whenever a new candy came out, he would give her five pounds bags of the candy to give to her patients to try and give feedback on them. One time it was M&Ms. So mom and her family got these five pounds bags of M&Ms. The next time the nurse came back she asked how they liked the candy. If she got positive feedback, she told her father and that candy would get distributed throughout the Northeast. Negative feedback, it wouldn't be distributed. Mom and her family said they liked the M&Ms and asked for more. So you have this nurse and her patients to thank for M&Ms!

My dad once told me about the tricks he and his friends played on Halloween. These included tipping outhouses and putting a wagon on someone's roof. As you can no doubt infer, he was born at the beginning of the 20th century in northern Kansas. Still miss him.

Ron is in character with the howl. I agree with Justine about the nutmeg. I tiny bit of nutmeg adds a little bit of something special. But a tad too much, it doesn't taste good anymore. You two are 'wicked' for devising 'torture' for losing the pumpkin carving contest. Ron can take the torture better than Justine because he's the Werewolf and Justine is the innocent Little Red Riding Hood. Thank goodness that the torture is short lived. Please brush your teeth and gums very well. Snickers and Dove chocolate morsels are my favorite. Caramel vs. caramel, potatoes potatoes-you still love each other. Interesting Red Riding Hood story. Never heard that version before. Thank you both!

I usually add nutmeg to acorn squash when I bake them. Salt, butter, nutmeg. I would have used bourbon instead of brandy to the pudding. That's why bourbon vanilla is so popular.

I am from grenada and nutmeg is what we do. Lots of it, everywhere. Mace covers the nutmeg seed. The mace is consider another spice many people don’t use or talk about.

Totally enjoyed this. The broomstick over the fireplace is a nice touch. Fall is my very favorite time of the year and Ron be careful with the milk and your reaction to it. There is an open flame right (behind ) you. Lolololol 🧡

My father told us as children, about a Halloween, when he was a child. He had a teacher that was horribly mean. He waited until the teacher was in the outhouse and chained it closed and pulled it out to the middle of a bridge. He then set a pile of wood on fire near each side of the bridge, then ran away. I guess the teacher was nicer after that. My favorite candy is a toss up between chocolate and gummy candy. I know totally different,but it depends on the day, sometimes I want chocolate and sometimes I want fruity.

My mom grew up in Tupper Lake, NY and in the 1930's they were still using outhouses and the teen boys would wait until someone was using one and then turn it over oh Halloween night. I guess that would be enough motivation to save for plumbing.

Candy corn is so good if you mix it with peanuts. It tastes like a payday candy bar!

Candies, I use to like smarties for their sweet sugar taste but now I'm more about anything chocolate. My favorite candy to receive on Halloween when I was a kid was the Whoppers and chocolate covered raisins and to this day is still my favorite candies I also really liked smarties and my brother and sisters didn't so they'd give me all of theirs on Halloween and still really like smarties

Candy corns mixed with salted peanuts are delicious. And yes, you cannot get the cheap candy corns. I like candy corns but the cheap ones are garbage.
