I enjoyed Daemon getting angered on behalf of Viserys when Strong was making fun of Tullys physical ailments.

Blackens and Brackwoods is an excellent accident because they’ve intermarried so often to try to seal a peace that they’re literally all family and it makes them feuding all the more tragic.

I just wanted to mention a detail: in the scene with Alicent and Rhaenyra, the singing in the background is an Orthodox Christian prayer "Gospodi pomiluj" (Lord have mercy).

You missed out a major part in the interaction between Daemon and Simon..where Daemon insists addresing him as 'Your Grace' and he often shows his annoyance about their reverance towards Rhaenyra.

Larys Strong theory: Alys Rivers very clearly has weirwood powers, and they're making her very Melissandre-like. If she is, as rumored, far older than she appears, and she did, as rumored, serve as a wet-nurse for the Strongs....is it possible that she passed these abilities to Larys as he nursed? His disability making him more succeptible to having powers activated, like other Greenseers? Perhaps even trained him?

My tinfoil hat is that both Daemon and Aemond are candidates to be into a similar position to Bloodraven but on the Isle of Faces. One of them would be becoming a green man/tree man. Or similar to one. And my pick would be Daemon. But the one Eyed Aemond still fits. The children look for people from magical bloodlines, and who has a more magical bloodline, than these silver haired menaces. I do not think they look for good men, they picked Bloodraven, a kinslayer for a gazillion times. It tracks for me. And Alys Rivers seems to be a type of Priestess of the Isle of Faces for me, a kind of Morgaine of ASoiaF. Meli and Alyce are not the same person, Mell burns threes, and someone that takes their power from weirwood would not burn one.

Born and raised in NJ. Has everything you need. Hiking, ski in the winter, beach in the summer, lakes whenever…I think people think of NJ as an industrial sterile type environment but much of the state is green…it is the garden state.

Whilst there ARE multiple other branches of House Veleryon, some of which could present with a range of different ethnicities, I don't think we'll see any of these on screen. Deamon Veleryon's branch was the senior branch, and introducing smaller branches of the family could confuse things for the show-only fans.

I think the choice to have Aemond stand up dangling there was to showcase his switch from vulnerable to putting on showcase of "idgaf" attitude and confidence to the guys and patrons of the brothel. "Just going to stand up and own it and show how much I really don't care" kind of thing.

I do think Nyra believes in the prophecy based on the way she talked about it with Daemon, perhaps she called it a “story” because she sees it as a family secret passed from King to Heir and she didn’t want to tell Alicent, who might just be like wtf. It might be easier in the moment to just simplify it as a story to Alicent because either way the point still stands that she misinterpreted Viserys words

The only issue I had with this episode was Alys Rivers. My immediate reaction was “she’s too young”. Ah well…

About the marching army, wouldn't the shiny armor be a dead give away to dragon riders? Even under de cover of trees at high noon, they were wearing so much metal you'd catch de gleam from miles away in the air. Will they blacken the armors in the next episode?

I recall someone mentioning a theory that Harrenhal being stone melted by dragonfire the towers of Harrenhal could be seen as sort of half formed giant glass candles. Which I thought was a cool theory.

I had to pause the video and comment. No way you don't like Aemond's HotD scene! I thought it was great, and I do NOT mean the nudity. It truly was character development. That was the only place where Aemond could bare himself, both literally and figuratively. He has an awful, emotionally unavailable mother - so he goes to Sylvie, gets in the foetal position and pours out all his insecurities or remorse, any and all negative feelings. And what he gets in return is: 1. The affection (or semblace of it) that his mother is incapable of, and she sometimes gives counsel to him (like we saw the previous episode, her reminding Aemond that when Princes act rashly, it has wider implications for the smallfolk) and 2. He gets to satisfy some weird Oedipal complex. Now, when Aegon comes in, he catches him at his most vulnerable. Here is the King, the older brother and his posse of yes-men, bullying him just like he always did when they were children, thinking he can control Aemond because he found his weakness. And instead of cowering or acting embarrassed , Aemond takes his power back! He says one whore is just as good as another (thereby letting Aemond know he won’t be able to blackmail him by using Sylvie), and then strides out of there confidently, without a stich of clothing on. In that moment, he is the most powerful person in the room! I think he has been written so masterfully that we, the audience, know that there is a vulnerable little boy hidden inside of him, and that in the question of nature vs nurture, it was obviously the nurture part that turned him into a psychopath or at least sociopath - but Aegon and the rest of the people in the room don't. He, as always, manages to fool them into believing the image he wants to project. It takes great strength to allow yourself to show weakness , and in that sense, and with our modern views of psychology, Aemond isn’t strong, not in the true sense. But boy was it effective for those times. In short, I think it was a great, great scene, and not at all gratuitous nudity that served no purpose apart from eye candy.

Question. Were any of those Blackwood’s or Brackens in this episode any of the Blackwoods or Bracken in that season 1 episode where they fought in front of Rhaenyra? That also started as a sword on dagger engagement if I recall. Just curious. I figure that was about 20 years prior in the show, so I’m guessing no. And sorry if this is answered in the video. I’m commenting about 8 min in.
