Finished my cap. Yeah, great pattern and the brim doesn’t flop. I only had DK weight cotton yarn so I measured it after 6 rounds and it was 51/2 so I added a couple of rounds after round 11. Had a few attempts at the brim with different size hooks and different yarns. I had a thicker cotton with fatter bits at intervals but after 2 rows I ditched it as I couldn’t see the top of the stitches properly with the two strands together so kept putting my hook in the wrong place. But that’s crocheting when your not following a pattern exactly. You have to experiment and be willing to try, try and try again. Aran weight yarn isn’t seen much where I live, DK is the common one. Where as the States has Aran everywhere from the patterns I see. Thanks for the time and effort you out into doing this, much appreciated and I’m off for a walk with my dog and my new cap. My akubra will stay on the hat hook till spring. 🌈🦘
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 11 месяцев назад
Fantastic!! Loved reading what you did! I like playing trying different yarn combos, too. If you have access to a fine weight, you can try a strand of that with the DK. Or 4 strands of #1 fine. That's what I did with the multi-colored, mercerized cotton cap I wear a lot, and showed in my Pricing & Selling Tips vid. 😃

I just finished making one with "Peaches and Cream" , brown cotton yarn. I blended the Peaches and Cream cotton yarn with Lion Brand rewind yarn for the brim. It came out very good! It is brown, and I edged it in turquoise color acrylic yarn. I have a large head, and my husband has a lot of hair, so I used an "H" hook for the cap part. It's a little large on my head, but still looks nice. It fits my husband's head perfectly.
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 11 месяцев назад
How fun playing with all those colors, and yarn! Brown and turquoise, great combination! Since the yarn you used is thicker and came out larger for you, now that you know, can always go down a hook size for yourself. Or go down to a G hook for the band, which will cinch it in a little. 💙
@FlourishingLove

So I got it done, amazing how it works. I don’t have headaches like I used to. I am thinking about having the other side done. You have to go to a tattoo and piercing shop. I won’t lie it hurts like crazy, but only for a moment. They will tell you how to keep it clean. I use a wound wash. It works great, no infection at all. Some people say it didn’t work for them but it worked for me. To me it was worth it to not have headaches everyday. Good Luck, let me know if you have it done.

I'm trying it in premier home cotton. Hope it works out
@cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet Год назад
Hi. Since that home cotton is a little thinner and slightly lighter, also due to the small amount of nylon, I think it is, should help keep it from being overly thick and heavy. You might need to frog, and go down an additional hook size, if your gauge becomes larger than measurements given; after approx. round 4. (and then another hook size down, for the band and first row of brim.). Depending, of course, on your crocheting tension and head size. Hope it works out great with what you’ve already started! Have fun! 😃

@@missybrigner9958 Oh really, well that's curious. I would've thought it might go the other way! Generally, they may appear smaller, at first. @cabinfevercrochet
@cabinfevercrochet 11 месяцев назад
Hello. A ladies average head size circumference is 21 3/4”. There’s some flex on the average size; but remember, yarn stretches. So depending on the yarn you’re using and your own crocheting tension, you can adjust for that either way. You can stay with the H hook (5.0mm) throughout, if your head is smaller, or go with the average size, if you’re unsure. I hope that helps. 💜

Several companies make the 1/4 sizes, in smaller hooks as: 2.25/B, 2.75/C, 3.25/D, and 3.75/F. I've been using primarily Furls (www.furlscrochet.com), for severals years now. Clover, Boye, Addi and possibly others, have those sizes, too. A google search will show various places where you can get them. I've noticed that although the size listed in millimeters may vary between companies, the corresponding letter and hook number, are considered the same. Hope that helps! 💗

@cabinfevercrochet Just to let ya know, my hat turned out too small for me. But I really like it. I'll be adjusting hook sizes till I get one that fits me. Lol Thanks for this pattern

@@missybrigner9958 Thank you for letting me know! After you've made one, it gives a good sense on what yarn type and hook size works for the intended hat size. Sounds like you have it down, now! Even though there's some flexibility within each size, It's still one of those more, size-specific patterns. 😅

Unfortunately I only have acrylic I checked and it’s 100% , so this yarn probably won’t work for the brim?

Hi. Acrylic will still work! It’s personal preference really. I only suggested a natural fiber, for more breathability during warmer months. Depending on your climate, acrylic may be just fine to wear now, and on into Spring. 😃 🌦️🌼

Hello and thanks for asking! I don't have one yet or an exact time fram; but I do plan to start releasing written patterns on some of my designs. I'll have a video announcement when it's ready. :)

Hello. It is a lot of explaining, and I’ve scaled back on that in more recent tutorials, without sacrificing instruction. However, there’s a detailed time stamp in the drop-down description section. You can fast forward to any segment, at any time, if you’d still to give it a go. 💗
