Hi Kne'Elle. All of the scanners that I show support automatic naming of receipts. The software doesn't always do a perfect job but it works pretty well in my experience. :-)

Hi Huw. Please excuse my delay in getting back to you. If you have a bunch of PDFs that you have downloaded (as opposed to ones that were scanned into ScanSnap home through your scanner), you can simply drag and drop them into whichever subfolder you wish within the main ScanSnap Home folder and it will make a copy of the PDF in that folder and create a record for it within the ScanSnap Home software. The reason that I did not discuss tags much in my video is because I feel that for most people, using the operating system that they are accustomed to (Windows or Mac) will be an easier, more reliable way to go, as opposed to learning a new and proprietary piece of software (like ScanSnap Home or something similar). I have a very high opinion of Fujitsu, and I find that ScanSnap Home works very well, but what if they were to stop supporting it someday (which is what happened with the software that ScanSnap Home replaced)? If this were to happen, a person’s whole organizational system may be at risk. If a person instead organizes their document using a fairly standard and reliable folder system (on a Windows machine or Mac), I think that they should be safe indefinitely (because I do not anticipate Windows or Apple making such a dramatic change to their operating systems so as to move away from the standard filing system). That being said, tags can definitely be useful, particularly as a single document can have multiple tags as you point out; however, to be safe, I like to simply keep my documents organized in the operating system. @@SeanDillman Thank you for your comprehensive reply and thoughts. I would hope that any software updates for the current machines would be backward compatible but you never know of course. By dragging and dropping the files, do you mean in my Mac’s Finder window and into some folder I’ll have to find lurking there belonging to Snapscan, or do you mean that it can be done directly on top of the Snapscan Home window. The latter would be preferable but perhaps this kind of thing could be the basis of a future video of yours?

@@hedydd2 You are most welcome. You make a good point about backwards compatibility. That is something that I hope that most software developers have in mind when they update/upgrade software. However, over the years I’ve been disappointed by many software developers who have taken away features that I’ve enjoyed so I’ve grown to be a bit skeptical. I therefore try to always go with things that I know will work now and into the foreseeable future.👍 With respect to the dragging-and-dropping, I am using Windows, but I believe that for Mac it would mean dragging the PDF out of your Finder window into a folder into a sub-folder in the grey area on the left-hand side in ScanSnap Home. It’s funny that you mention making a future video. That’s a good idea so I just made a short one for you now. Please take a look.
